EquipmentSheet
I use AI to review code and assist with optimization and integrity; I manually test and review every mod, and all decisions and code remain my own.
Critical fix: EquipmentSheet gear and food are now preserved correctly through player death and tombstone creation, even when the vanilla bag is full. Recovering the tombstone restores each item to the EquipmentSheet slot it occupied before death instead of leaving it in the bag or risking item loss.
EquipmentSheet is a client-side Valheim mod that adds a dedicated equipment and food panel beside the vanilla player inventory. It gives important gear a consistent home without hiding its weight or bypassing Valheim's normal equip and death-drop behavior.
Created and maintained by R4V9N1.
Features
- Six dedicated equipment slots: Helm, Chest, Legs, Trinket, Back, and Belt.
- Three persistent food slots for food and drink consumables.
- Uses Valheim's real equipped-item state so armor values and character visuals work normally.
- Automatically moves supported gear into its matching sheet slot when equipped and swaps the previous item back into the bag.
- Shows equipped sheet gear in crafting-station Upgrade lists and returns upgraded gear to the same slot.
- Includes sheet contents in carry weight.
- Shows vanilla item tooltips and durability bars.
- Preserves sheet gear and food through the normal tombstone flow without relying on free vanilla bag slots.
- Restores recovered items to their original sheet slots after the tombstone is taken.
- If gear was already lost by an older version and the tombstone cannot recover it, restore the character from Valheim's local client character-backup data, if a suitable backup exists.
- Keeps equipment separate per character and clears stale data when switching characters.
- Supports drag-and-drop, left-click pickup, food-stack refills, and right-click food use.
- Dragging equipment into the bag leaves it unequipped; right-clicking an equipment slot returns it directly to the bag.
Installation
Install with a Thunderstore mod manager, or copy EquipmentSheet.dll into:
<Valheim>/BepInEx/plugins/EquipmentSheet/EquipmentSheet.dll
This is a client-side mod. Install it for each player who wants the extra panel.
Configuration
After the first launch, BepInEx creates:
BepInEx/config/r4v9n1.equipmentsheet.cfg
You can enable or disable the panel and adjust its horizontal gap and extra right offset for other UI mods or different UI scales.
Compatibility note
Equipment and food in the panel live in EquipmentSheet's own per-character saved inventory. The mod intentionally does not use hidden extra rows in the vanilla player inventory.
The death-recovery snapshot is temporary per-character recovery data. It is consumed when the tombstone is recovered; it does not require a new config file. BrennivinProtection 1.0.2 is compatible and no longer moves EquipmentSheet items into the bag before suppressing tombstone creation.
Recovery fallback for older losses
The current fix prevents the known death/tombstone loss path; it cannot recreate items that an older version already discarded. If that happened, use Valheim's local client character-backup data and restore a backup from before the death. Back up the current character files before replacing anything, and only restore a backup you recognize as belonging to the correct character.
CHANGELOG
Changelog
1.0.25
- Rebuilt death/tombstone transfer around a dedicated 3x3 EquipmentSheet grave region appended beside the vanilla bag grid before Valheim moves inventory.
- Removed temporary injection of EquipmentSheet clones into the player bag, eliminating duplicate-grid-position and full-bag loss paths.
- Added transactional grave verification: the live EquipmentSheet is only cleared after every grave copy is confirmed in its reserved slot.
- Added per-item grave-slot metadata so take-all, single-item pickup, relogged tombstones, and fallback bag routing restore items to their exact original EquipmentSheet slot.
- Separated death snapshots from the ordinary pending-transfer cache so unrelated drag/upgrade transactions cannot overwrite death recovery state.
- Strengthened item identity matching with prefab/name, quality, variant, world level, stack, durability, crafter identity, and custom item data.
- Preserved external death-protection behavior.
- Build now enforces SpaceBuilder and prefers the canonical shared
assembly_valheim.dllreference. - Package output now uses the project-owned
GeneralWork/EquipmentSheet/releasesauthority.
1.0.24
- Hardens character switching so runtime-only EquipmentSheet state cannot carry across different Valheim characters.
- Saved EquipmentSheet data is decoded and validated in an isolated temporary inventory before it can replace the live character sheet.
- If saved EquipmentSheet data is corrupt or unreadable, EquipmentSheet fails closed by clearing the runtime sheet instead of retaining another character's previously loaded gear.
- Corrupt saved character data is preserved rather than deleted or overwritten, keeping later recovery or repair possible.
- Clears pending auto-route, manual-drag, upgrade, tombstone-tracking, and death-transfer runtime state whenever the local character instance changes.
- Preserves the 1.0.23 normal-death path, full-bag tombstone recovery, partial grave recovery, original-slot restoration, and Brennivín protected-death behavior.
- The existing EquipmentSheet UI skin/frame around the equipment slots remains unchanged.
1.0.23
- Fixes normal-death duplication: pending EquipmentSheet items are transferred into the tombstone exactly once through Valheim's vanilla inventory transfer.
- Tombstone looting still matches those actual transferred items to the cache and restores them to their original sheet slots, re-equipping them immediately.
1.0.22
- Removes the bag-facing
GetEquippedItemsandGetWornItemsinjections. EquipmentSheet now exposes no second inventory representation that vanilla death/save code can duplicate; character equipment remains synchronized directly from the sheet.
1.0.21
- Makes protected death a hard no-transfer boundary: sheet gear is not exposed through the bag-facing equipped/worn lists while Brennivin protection is active.
- EquipmentSheet independently suppresses vanilla tombstone creation for the protection snapshot, preventing the same item from existing in both the sheet and bag.
1.0.20
- Blocks validation, manual bag routing, automatic equip routing, and queued respawn routing while Brennivin protection is active.
- Prevents protected-death synchronization from moving dedicated EquipmentSheet items into the player bag.
1.0.19
- Removes the duplicate-reference cleanup and warning; protected death no longer performs post hoc duplicate repair.
1.0.18
- Removes only exact shared EquipmentSheet item references from the player bag during protected death.
- Prevents Valheim inventory synchronization from displaying the same sheet item in both locations.
1.0.17
- Brennivin now caches the dedicated EquipmentSheet slots immediately when its protection is activated.
- Protected death uses that activation snapshot even if Valheim rebuilds or removes the live status effect before tombstone processing.
- The snapshot is cleared after protected death, so normal death behavior resumes when protection is gone.
1.0.16
- Moves direct recovery-clone insertion to after Valheim finishes clearing and copying the tombstone inventory.
- Prevents vanilla
MoveInventoryToGravefrom erasing the recovery clones before pickup.
1.0.15
- Makes the death cache use the same 3x3 inventory dimensions and exact coordinates as EquipmentSheet.
- Fixes recovery loaders that recreated the cache as 1x1 and discarded items stored in other sheet slots.
1.0.14
- Fixes the death cache serializer so EquipmentSheet items are always written into valid temporary cache slots before their original sheet coordinates are restored.
- Prevents empty recovery caches that could cause all sheet items to disappear during death.
1.0.13
- Inserts recovery clones directly into the tombstone after Valheim's death rules are evaluated.
- Removes temporary recovery clones from the player inventory before vanilla grave filtering, preventing equipped sheet items from being deleted by
DeathDeleteUnequippedor related rules. - Keeps the real EquipmentSheet items in the persistent sheet until tombstone recovery completes.
1.0.12
- Handles deaths where the player has no vanilla bag items by preparing recovery clones before Valheim checks whether a tombstone should be created.
- Leaves EquipmentSheet untouched when
DeathKeepInventoryis active, avoiding an empty-sheet/no-tombstone loss path. - Prevents duplicate recovery-clone injection during vanilla grave transfer.
1.0.11
- Adds a dedicated persistent death-recovery cache containing complete sheet item data, original coordinates, and equipped/food state before death.
- Injects recovery clones directly into tombstone creation without placing the real sheet items in the vanilla bag.
- Restores recovered items directly from the tombstone into their cached EquipmentSheet slots.
- Leaves the cache intact until recovery completes, preventing full-bag loss and supporting interrupted recovery.
- Prevents cache restore during ordinary character loading, so unrelated bag items cannot be mistaken for tombstone loot.
- Requires saved tombstone grid identity during bulk recovery to avoid matching duplicate items incorrectly.
1.0.10
- Ensures BrennivínProtection gets first priority on
Player.CreateTombStone. - When Brennivín is carried in the vanilla bag and prevents death loss, EquipmentSheet no longer moves sheet gear into the bag before protection activates.
- Preserves the dedicated sheet slots during Brennivín protection.
1.0.9
- Fixes the individual tombstone-loot path used when the vanilla bag cannot fit the complete grave.
- Routes recovered EquipmentSheet items directly from the tombstone into their saved slots instead of allowing them to land in the bag first.
- Preserves the existing direct-transfer, expanded-tombstone, equipped-state, food, and Brennivín protection fixes.
1.0.8
- Adds the updated EquipmentSheet UI skin around the equipment slots.
- Preserves the tombstone direct-routing, expanded grave storage, persistent slot snapshot, full-bag recovery, and Brennivín protection fixes from 1.0.7.
1.0.7
- Expands the vanilla tombstone inventory after transfer so the complete EquipmentSheet recovery snapshot has dedicated room in the grave.
- Preserves each item’s pre-death equipped state and original sheet coordinates for recovery.
- Keeps Brennivín death protection safe: when no tombstone is created, EquipmentSheet storage remains untouched.
1.0.6
- Treats the dedicated per-character EquipmentSheet storage and saved slot snapshot as the authoritative source during death recovery.
- Captures the complete sheet state before vanilla death processing changes equipped flags or moves items.
- Restores recovered items by identity even when food stacks were partially transferred.
- Keeps original equipped-slot coordinates and state for recovery instead of relying on free vanilla bag space.
1.0.5
- Fixes tombstone recovery when the vanilla bag is full by restoring each item only after it actually reaches the player inventory.
- Handles both individual/partial tombstone transfers and successful “take all” recovery.
- Keeps unresolved items pending in the tombstone instead of duplicating them or silently dropping them.
- Restores recovered equipment and food to their saved EquipmentSheet slots.
1.0.4
- Updated the main mod description with the critical death/tombstone recovery behavior.
- Added clear guidance to keep the existing config and use Valheim's local character backups as a fallback for gear already lost by an older version.
1.0.3
- Critical death-recovery fix: preserves equipped gear and food through death and tombstone creation, including when the vanilla player bag is full.
- Restores recovered gear and food to the exact EquipmentSheet slots they occupied before death.
- Prevents equipped sheet items from being filtered out by Valheim's vanilla tombstone inventory transfer.
- Keeps the existing per-character saved inventory and slot layout; no config deletion, save reset, or manual migration is required.
- Keep
BepInEx/config/r4v9n1.equipmentsheet.cfg; deleting it only resets panel positioning and is not part of this fix. - Adds compatibility with BrennivinProtection 1.0.2, which no longer strands EquipmentSheet items when Brennivín suppresses tombstone creation.
- Documents the fallback recovery option: players affected by an older gear-loss incident may restore the character from suitable local client character-backup data created before the loss.
- The mod package icon is a custom-made icon and is not AI-generated.
1.0.1
- Fixes Valheim 1.0 inventory persistence notifications by using the current two-boolean
Inventory.Changedsignature. - Fixes the equipment-upgrade hook to target Valheim 1.0's current
Inventory.AddItemoverload. - Replaced the package icon with a custom-made, non-AI-generated icon.
1.0.0
- Rebuilt against the current Valheim 1.0 assemblies.
- Preserves the existing equipment, food-slot, upgrade, save, death-drop, and tooltip behavior.
0.9.3
- Moves the human/AI development disclosure to the top of the Thunderstore details text so it is visible immediately.
- Adds a concise human-directed, AI-assisted development note to the package manifest description.
- Corrects the Thunderstore package layout so the DLL is placed under
plugins/EquipmentSheet/EquipmentSheet.dll. - No gameplay changes intended relative to 0.9.2.
0.9.2
- Adds the human/AI development disclosure to the Thunderstore package description.
- No gameplay changes intended relative to 0.9.1.
0.9.1
- Fixes manually removing gear from the sheet after automatic equipment routing was added.
- Dragging gear from a sheet slot into the bag now leaves it in the bag and unequipped instead of routing it straight back to the sheet.
- Right-clicking an occupied equipment slot now unequips the item and returns it directly to the bag when a slot is available.
- Keeps the 0.9.0 upgrade-list, in-slot upgrade, and automatic gear-replacement behavior.
0.9.0
- Equipped sheet gear now appears in crafting-station Upgrade lists and can be upgraded without moving it into the bag first.
- A successful upgrade returns the higher-quality replacement to the same equipment slot and equips it automatically.
- Equipping supported gear from the bag now moves it into its matching sheet slot automatically.
- Replacing equipped gear swaps the previous sheet item into the bag cell vacated by the newly equipped item, so the operation also works with a full bag.
- Failed upgrade creation rolls the original sheet item back into its slot.
Updating from 0.8.1, 0.9.0, or 0.9.1
- Close Valheim completely before replacing the old DLL or updating the package.
- You do not need to remove gear from the equipment sheet before updating. Version 0.9.2 uses the same saved equipment data and slot layout.
- Keep
BepInEx/config/r4v9n1.equipmentsheet.cfg. Deleting it only resets the panel-position settings to their defaults; it does not remove or reset saved sheet gear. - Move all sheet gear back into the normal bag only if you intend to uninstall EquipmentSheet entirely.
- A character backup before updating mods is always a sensible precaution, but it is not required for this update.
0.8.1
- Fixes food-slot removal: left-click picks up the stack and right-click consumes one item through Valheim's normal item-use path.
- Packages EquipmentSheet for Thunderstore under the
R4V9N1creator identity. - Uses the
r4v9n1.equipmentsheet.cfgBepInEx config filename.
