Valyn Diving

Dive beneath the surface with a visible breath supply and swim controls.

NOTE — Why I made this mod: Valheim is not designed around players travelling underwater. I created Valyn Diving so players can retrieve dropped items in deep water that they otherwise cannot pick up. I know that underwater movement may also let players gather barnacles after a Leviathan submerges or change how Serpent fights play out. Those are unintended side effects of the diving ability, not its original purpose.

What it does

• Hold Left Control to descend and Space to ascend while diving.
• Watch a blue breath bar next to stamina; breath refills at the surface and Swim skill extends the time underwater.
• Hold Left Shift to swim faster at a higher stamina cost.
• Let the third-person camera follow you underwater; turn this off in the config to restore the normal surface clamp.
• Stamina recovery stays blocked while swimming or submerged, including on the seabed, but works while wading in shallow water.
• Adjust breath time, drowning damage, movement speeds and stamina behavior in the config file.

Settings

Default breath is 30 seconds; Swim skill can double it at skill 100. Shift speed is 1.25×, and ordinary swim stamina drain is 0.85×. Allow underwater camera and No regeneration while in water default to true. Wading with your head above water can still regenerate stamina by default. Edit BepInEx/config/valyn.mods.diving.cfg after first launch.

Manual installation and updating

1. Close Valheim and install BepInExPack_Valheim.
2. Extract this package. Copy plugins/ValynDiving.dll into BepInEx/plugins/ValynDiving/ and restart Valheim.
3. When updating: Replace the previous ValynDiving.dll; keep only one copy installed.

Removal

1. Close Valheim.
2. Delete ValynDiving.dll from that folder, or remove the manager-installed copy. The config file can be deleted separately if you want to reset your settings.
