RUNIC ENCHANTING COMPATIBILITY

YOUR STORAGE. YOUR ENCHANTING TABLE.

Keep your supplies in storage. Bring them to the table when it matters.

Runic Enchanting Compatibility connects Epic Loot to nearby RunicCrafting storage and an optional equipped AdventureBackpack. Identify stored items, work on stored equipment, and use stored materials for table actions without collecting each ingredient by hand.

Compatibility / v0.1.4
Built against Valheim 1.0.16 with BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2351. Requires Epic Loot 0.14.13, RunicCrafting 1.1.8 and RunicStorage 1.3.8. AdventureBackpacks 2.1.13 is optional. Install on each player client; the dedicated server does not need this helper. Exact dependency binaries are checked. This build passed offline checks; in-game validation of this update is pending. Earlier playtests apply to previous releases only.

AT THE TABLE / WHAT IT CONNECTS

Table action Storage support
Identify and Sacrifice Select eligible stored items and use stored identification materials
Enchant, Augment and Disenchant Select stored equipment and pay with stored materials
Convert Use stored materials for Epic Loot's existing conversion recipes
Rune extraction and etching Use eligible stored equipment, runes and materials
Upgrade Table Unlock and upgrade features using stored materials

Epic Loot still decides the costs, unlocks, permitted equipment, effects and random outcomes. The helper calls its existing cost functions and adds no new items, recipes, equipment bonuses or progression shortcuts.

FROM CHEST TO HAND / HOW IT WORKS

Opening a list only reads storage. Selecting an item does not move or spend it. When your action executes, the helper checks the complete selection and cost, moves the selected items and missing materials into ordinary inventory, then lets Epic Loot perform its normal action.

  • The equipped, closed backpack is searched before nearby chests. Carried materials are used first.
  • Each selected external item stack needs an empty ordinary inventory slot, with additional room for missing materials. Separate slots keep distinct equipment selections from merging.
  • Selected equipment retains its quality, enchantments, sockets, crafter information and other serialized metadata.
  • Resulting items and changed equipment stay in normal inventory. They are not automatically returned to their original container.
  • If Epic Loot later refuses an action, successfully transferred items remain in normal inventory; the helper has no hidden item store or timed refund.

Uses RunicCrafting's configured range cap, container limits and access rules, measured from the player. It does not add a larger range. Open or inaccessible chests and protected, equipped, quest or outdated-world-level external items are excluded. Custom drawer inventories are not exposed as equipment lists; supported drawer material counts remain available for Upgrade Table.

The storage preview is cached briefly while the table is visible. On use, the actual source, slot, item data, quantity, access and complete cost are checked again. If another player moves a selected item or opens its chest, the action can be refused. Close the chest and reopen the table to select the current contents.

READY THE TABLE / INSTALLATION

  1. Close Valheim and your mod manager.
  2. Install the listed Epic Loot and Runic dependencies, then this helper on each client that wants the feature.
  3. Keep RunicCrafting enabled with CraftFromContainers enabled, and keep RunicStorage enabled.
  4. For optional bag support, enable AdventureBackpacks' Enable Craft From Backpack, equip the bag and close its inventory window.
  5. Launch modded, open the table and try one inexpensive stored item with enough free ordinary inventory slots.

Manual installation: copy plugins/RunicEnchantingCompatibility into BepInEx/plugins, keeping one DLL. Coming from the local test build? Replace its local entry with the Thunderstore-managed release while the game and manager are closed. Preserve the config and remove duplicate copies.

The helper is client-only. No server restart is needed just for this helper, and it adds no world content or save format. The underlying Epic Loot and Runic setup must still be installed where those mods require it. No new world is needed.

YOUR SETTINGS

The first launch creates BepInEx/config/vercadi.RunicEnchantingCompatibility.cfg:

[General]
Use equipped backpack = true

Turning this off retains chest support. AdventureBackpacks' own server-controlled crafting permission is still respected. An absent or unsupported backpack adapter skips bag support while leaving the reviewed chest integration available.

FIELD NOTES / COMPATIBILITY

The helper checks exact reviewed dependency DLL hashes. A changed required dependency leaves it inactive pending review. Manifest dependency versions do not prevent a mod manager from installing a newer version. Review compatibility before updating Epic Loot or the Runic dependencies.

Look for ACTIVE: reviewed EpicLoot 0.14.13 table items and materials on startup. The startup message marks this update as awaiting a gameplay test.

Validation: Version 0.1.4 passed 157 offline checks. These cover the helper's policy and/or dependency contracts; the inventory helpers additionally use transfer models. This update has not yet been validated in a live player session. Successful tests of previous releases do not establish this build's gameplay, multiplayer or save/rejoin behavior.

Transfers are checked on isolated inventories before real contents change. A transfer error attempts restoration of each affected endpoint, including the backpack cache and parent item, then disables further helper actions for that session. It never retries automatically. Preserve logs and item counts before retrying; restart the client after investigating. There is no rollback across Epic Loot's own action, choice dialog, random outcome or server request. Separate player/world saves cannot be made atomic across a hard crash.

Removal: save and quit normally, then remove this helper. Transferred items remain ordinary inventory items and Epic Loot returns to its original inventory rules. Keep the original content mods installed so their items remain available.

For a report, include dependency versions, the selected table action, item name, whether its supplies were in a bag or chest, and the BepInEx log. Remove private server addresses or passwords before sharing logs.
