GooCosmetics
Give your gear the look of other items you own. Keep its stats, upgrades, durability, and enchantments. Neither item is consumed.
Apply an illusion
- Open your inventory or an ordinary storage container, such as a chest. Close crafting stations and other menus first.
- Hover over the gear you want to change and press T.
- Drag the item with the look you want into the slot.
- Choose any effect options, then click Apply Illusion.
Pressing T over empty space opens two slots: your original gear on the left and the item supplying its look on the right. Both items must be in your own inventory.
Right-click a slot to clear it. Drag the title bar to move the window. Press T again to close it.
Remove an illusion
Hover over the item and press -, or select it in the window and click Remove Illusion.
Matching items
- Weapons must have the same type and attack style. One-handed and two-handed weapons cannot be mixed.
- Bucklers, round shields, and tower shields are separate types.
- Armor must cover the same body part. Hats and helmets match; capes match other capes.
- Pickaxes are supported. Building hammers, hoes, and other utility items are not.
Options
In the applying window, both choices start off:
- Preserve particle effect: use the original gear's flames, glow, or similar effects in place of the other item's effects.
- No Particles: hide those effects entirely. Leave the appearance slot empty to hide effects without changing the item's current look. This overrides Preserve.
Each item remembers its choices.
Use your mod manager's configuration editor to change:
- Shortcuts: T to open the window and - to remove an illusion by default.
- Use donor icons: show the borrowed appearance's picture in your inventory and hotbar. Off by default.
- Illusion name color: choose a color preset. Purple by default.
- Illusion indicator: color the name, add a small diamond, or use both. Diamond-only mode keeps existing rarity colors.
- See illusions on other players: show their chosen appearances. On by default.
Multiplayer
Each player who wants to see illusions needs GooCosmetics installed. Players without it see the original gear. Your own illusions also appear on the character shown in the main menu.
CHANGELOG
Changelog
0.0.2
- Added a character collection that remembers acquired appearances after the donor item is sold, lost, destroyed, or stored.
- Added separate appearance and particle collections with 4 columns, 6 rows, paging, name search, favorites, and progression ordering.
- Added independent particle donors, with the same type and attack compatibility checks as appearance donors. Particles follow the selected appearance by default; the particle section hides when the character has no collected particle weapons.
- Added Original look and Original particles toggles, dimmed original-item placeholders, and restoration of the last donor selected in the open editor.
- Added a rotatable, zoomable character preview with Original/Selected comparison and one-step Undo for Apply and Remove.
- Moved Use donor icons into the illusion window as an immediate, persistent client preference. Existing config choices migrate automatically and the old config entry is removed.
- Added an opt-in setting for compatible unclassified weapon types while preserving known type and equipment restrictions.
- Refined the inventory-style interface, separate draggable collection panels, and blocked-interface handling.
