README

Keep Inventory (Valheim BepInEx mod)

When you die, no tombstone is created and your inventory stays with you.

Build

  1. Install BepInEx (BepInExPack_Valheim) in your Valheim folder and run the game once so it generates publicized_assemblies.
  2. Install the .NET SDK, then from this folder run: dotnet build -c Release -p:ValheimDir="C:\path\to\Valheim"
  3. Output: bin\Release\net462\KeepInventory.dll

Install

Copy KeepInventory.dll into Valheim\BepInEx\plugins\. It runs on the client of each player who should keep their items (the death happens on the owning client). If you also want it on a dedicated server, copy it to the server's BepInEx\plugins\ too; it is harmless there.

Config

Generated at BepInEx\config\com.example.keepinventory.cfg:

  • Enabled (default true)
  • KeepSkills (default false): also skip the skill-loss penalty on death

Notes

  • If you notice equipped gear gets unequipped after respawn on your game version, re-equip manually or tell me and I'll add a patch for it.
  • Method names (Player.CreateTombStone, Skills.OnDeath) match recent Valheim versions; if a game update renames them the patch will log an error at startup.
