README

NoMovementPenalty

A Valheim mod that disables movement speed penalties caused by equipment.

Movement speed buffs are preserved — only modifiers below zero are neutralised. If you are wearing a Fenris set, or Epic Loot gear with a movement-speed enchant, you keep every bit of it.

Compatible with Valheim 1.0.7.

How it works

Valheim sums each equipped item's m_movementModifier in Player.UpdateModifiers(). This mod runs just before that and rewrites any negative value to effectively zero. Positive values are never touched.

The neutralised value is a hair above zero rather than an exact 0, on purpose: Valheim's tooltip builder skips modifiers that are exactly zero, so a true zero would make the movement line vanish from the item tooltip entirely. Instead you see the row reading +0%.

Config toggles (all enabled by default)

[1-Global]
modEnable = true

[2-Toggles]
rightItemEnable    = true
leftItemEnable     = true
helmetItemEnable   = true
chestItemEnable    = true
legItemEnable      = true
shoulderItemEnable = true
utilityItemEnable  = true
trinketItemEnable  = true

Turning an individual slot off restores that slot's normal penalty.

Troubleshooting

The mod logs what it does. In BepInEx/LogOutput.log you should see:

[Info : NoMovementPenalty] v1.0.5 patched Player.UpdateModifiers, ...
[Info : NoMovementPenalty] neutralised chest 'Iron armor' (-0.05 -> 0)

If the game ever changes out from under it, the mod refuses to patch and logs the exact method or field it could not find, rather than loading silently and doing nothing.
