OttoPay
Coins go to a Merchant Bank balance, not your inventory. Replaces CurrencyPocket, and your balance carries over. Add OttoAura to spend it on ward repairs, moving builds and selling valuables.

OttoPay

Version 1.6.7, built and Harmony-checked against Valheim 1.0.17.
A bank balance for your coins, run by the merchants of Valheim.
Talk to any merchant and press the "Join Merchant Bank" button in the store window. From then on, every coin you pick up goes to your Merchant Bank balance instead of your inventory, where it takes no slot and weighs nothing, and any merchant draws on that balance when you buy. Until you join, coins behave exactly as they do in vanilla.
Think of it as a mystical tap-to-pay. The coins are not on your belt - the merchants hold them for you, and the AuraPay network settles your payments on your behalf. AuraPay is how other mods, starting with OttoAura, charge your balance for their services.
Better with OttoAura
OttoPay holds your coins. OttoAura gives you things to spend them on. Turn AuraPay on in the inventory window and you get:
- Ward repairs. Stand inside a ward you own or are permitted on and it heals you and repairs the gear you wear, one coin per item per tick by default.
- AuraBoost. Roads and trails drain less stamina: half on dirt paths, wood and metal, none on paved roads and stone. It costs nothing.
- AuraMove. For a small fee the Merchant Guild moves a chest, a crafting station or a piece of furniture a short distance, contents intact, so you don't have to smash it and build it again.
- AuraTrade. Inside your ward, drop rubies, amber and other valuables on your balance to sell them, minus a small AuraPay fee.
OttoAura lists OttoPay as a dependency, so a mod manager installs both.
Coming from CurrencyPocket
OttoPay replaces CurrencyPocket, which is now deprecated. Your pocket balance carries over, and a character with coins in it already counts as a Merchant Bank member. Remove CurrencyPocket first: the two mods cannot load side by side.
What you get
- The inventory window shows your coin balance next to your armor and weight.
- Coins you pick up go straight to the balance, and you still see the normal pickup message.
- Merchants read your balance when you buy, and RapidLoadouts reads it too.
- A withdraw button opens the split dialog so you can choose how many coins to take, or you can hold Ctrl when you click it to take them all.
- Drop coins on your balance to deposit them again.
- An AuraPay toggle lets OttoAura charge your balance for its services. It is off until you turn it on, and the choice is saved with the character.
Client and server
OttoPay is a client mod, so it works on a server that does not have it.
If you also install it on the server, the server config wins and the clients follow it. Clients without the mod can still join.
Configuration
The config file is potto007.OttoPay.cfg in the BepInEx config folder, and the mod reloads it when the file changes.
| Setting | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Lock Configuration | On | Only server admins can change the config, and the setting is synced with the server. |
Other mods
- OttoAura uses AuraPay for everything listed under Better with OttoAura. Other mods can register their own AuraPay services with OttoPayApi.RegisterAuraService so they appear in the AuraPay tooltip.
- CurrencyPocket cannot run next to OttoPay. Both mods keep the coins under the same player data key, so BepInEx refuses to load OttoPay beside it. A balance you built up with CurrencyPocket carries over, and a character with coins in it already counts as a bank member.
- Jewelcrafting and QuickStackStore move the inventory panels too. OttoPay moves them to make room for the balance, and with one of these installed the coin balance keeps its place while the other panels shift instead.
- ExtraSlots keeps lists of panels. OttoPay removes its own panel from those lists when they hold more panels than the row count allows.

CHANGELOG
Changelog
1.6.7
- Rebuilt against Valheim 1.0.17. Every Harmony patch target still resolves in this build, and nothing else changed.
1.6.6
- Withdrawn coins still on the cursor when the drag ends, for example because you closed the inventory, go back to your balance. They used to disappear, after they had already left it.
- Withdrawn coins dropped on a slot holding another item stay on the cursor. The game swapped the two, and the item that was in the slot was lost.
1.6.5
- Withdrawn coins dropped on a coin stack without room for all of them stay on the cursor. The coins that did not fit used to disappear, although they had already left the balance.
- OttoPay is released under the MIT license.
- The code is reorganised and has unit tests. Nothing else changes in play.
1.6.4
- The Thunderstore description and README lead with what OttoAura adds: ward repairs, AuraBoost, AuraMove and AuraTrade, paid through AuraPay.
- The README has a section for CurrencyPocket users: the balance carries over.
1.6.3
- Rebuilt against Valheim 1.0.16. Every Harmony patch target still resolves in this build, and nothing else changed.
1.6.2
- Rebuilt against Valheim 1.0.15. Every Harmony patch target still resolves in this build, and nothing else changed.
1.6.1
- Rebuilt against Valheim 1.0.14. Every Harmony patch target still resolves in this build, and nothing else changed.
1.6.0
- Valuables such as rubies and amber no longer cash in when dropped on the balance. Selling them moved to OttoAura's AuraTrade, which works inside a ward and takes an AuraPay transaction fee. The AllowValuableItems and AllowedValuablePrefabs settings are gone.
- The deposit arrow shows in full colour; the armor icon's material had turned it grey.
- The balance tooltip says to drop coins on the balance, not on an icon.
- New OttoPayApi.TryDeposit, and OttoPayApi.RegisterDepositHandler and UnregisterDepositHandler for mods that accept other dragged items on the balance.
1.5.1
- The Thunderstore description no longer mentions the mod OttoPay started from; the credit stays in the README.
1.5.0
- The AuraPay tooltip lists the aura services other mods register via OttoPayApi.
- New OttoPayApi.RegisterAuraService and OttoPayApi.UnregisterAuraService for mods to advertise their AuraPay-powered features.
- The hardcoded AuraBoost sentence moved to OttoAura, which now registers it as a service.
1.4.0
- New withdraw icon.
- The README calls the Merchant Bank a mystical tap-to-pay, settled through the AuraPay network.
- The AuraPay toggle tooltip mentions OttoAura's AuraBoost.
1.3.0
- Every tooltip now uses the inventory slot box. Some controls got their tooltip before the inventory finished loading and before any slot existed, so they ended up with an unboxed style.
- The coin icon no longer answers hovers meant for the buttons on top of it, and it no longer rewrites the first inventory slot's tooltip.
- The withdraw tooltip was wrong, because the button opens a dialog to take some coins, not all.
- All player facing text now calls your coins a Merchant Bank balance instead of a pouch.
- New README, with the config table and the compatibility notes.
- New icon and title art.
1.2.0
- Hover tooltips on the join button, the withdraw button, the AuraPay toggle and the coin icon.
- The joining message now shows inside the store window. The heads up display drew it behind the shop, so you only saw it if you closed the shop in time.
- The toggle reads AuraPay, not Aura.
1.1.2
- The join button sits clear of the store panel, and its label no longer wraps.
1.1.1
- The join button was invisible. It is cloned from the Buy button, which is stretch anchored, so the copied sizeDelta was an inset and the width came out negative.
1.1.0
- The join button was a second, unlabelled coin icon, because it was cloned from the Sell button, which has no text child. It is cloned from Buy now and reads "Join Merchant Bank".
1.0.0
- First release, from CurrencyPocket 1.0.13, for Valheim 1.0.7.
- Coins go to the bank only after you join the Merchant Bank Network at a merchant, and until then they behave as in vanilla.
- AuraPay toggle, so OttoAura can charge your balance for repairs.
