README
🤬PottyMouth
A functional actually-usable Webfishing chat filter
Wanting to comfortably communicate with your fishing pals shouldn't come at the cost of opening yourself up to hear anything from everybody online, or having to try and awkwardly figure out what your pals are chatting about because some regular unoffensive words are bizarrely being censored???[^1]
This mod aims to overhaul the mostly-broken and carelessly-thrown-together Kindergarten-grade stock filter!
Usage
After installing the mod you can simply (re-)enable the in-game swear filtering in the settings, as usual. If you want to pause PottyMouth, just turn the setting back off. No special hotkeys or menus with this one.
PottyMouth works primarily by replacing the
astonishingly ineffective default wordlist with a saner and more comprehensive alternative.
The mod also applies a few fixes/behavioral tweaks to the
swear_filter module which is, again, notoriously unusable and disruptive to communicating with your fishing pals.
Roadmap
- Wordlist refinement (please leave feedback!)
- circumvention prevention
- Multi-lingual support
- Severity customization
Known issues
- Certain words matching multiple times may obscure the
entire sentence unexpectedly
- This happens due to how the vanilla swear_filter works 🤷
- This should mostly never happen

Changelog
[^1]: How can anyone have normal filtered conversations if everyday words like "girls", "pot", "Muslim" are being censored...?
CHANGELOG
Changelog
v1.0.5
- Word list refinements
- Initial mod loading speed improvement
v1.0.4
- Oops! forgot to update the build in the last version. Fixes hello and how being censored swears
v1.0.3
- Deleted 13375p34k parsing bug (in vanilla Webfishing) that left the player's message mutated whenever using the chat filter
- This meant that if your messaged contained "!" "1" "4" "0" "$" "()" "|" the char(s) would be left warped into a letter!
- Fixed issue in filter_text that caused extremely high % of false positives (e.g.,
hell->hello) - Various/general wordlist refinements
v1.0.1
- Fixed swear_filter bug which was causing (in vanilla unmodded Webfishing too) the entire message, including player name, to be censored
