README
TalkyPup's Photo D-pad Pack
Replaces the on-screen D-pad on the HUD with an official photo/render of a different controller's D-pad.
I started looking into modding Zelda 64: Recompiled because I wanted to see if I could change the D-pad and the colours of the UI buttons to match my actual controller, like you can do in Ship of Harkinian. Looks like the button colour thing is beyond my abilities, so I just did the D-pads instead. The photo/render style was the quickest way to get things going. It might clash with the game's art style, but at least it matches my controllers now. I may or may not make some more fitting glyphs and release them as a separate pack. If anyone reading this actually knows what they're doing, please consider making a mod to change the button colours.
Compatibility/Setup
If you're using this with another texture mod that alters the D-pad (e.g. MMN64HD or MM Reloaded), make sure that this mod goes above those. Otherwise this mod won't do anything, and you'll see that mod's D-pad texture instead.
Included D-pads
- Xbox Series X Controller
- DualSense (PS5)
- Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
- Steam Deck
- Steam Controller (Left trackpad)
Plans for Future Releases
I often set these kinds of goals for myself and don't actually meet them. This is what I'd like to do, but no promises.
- More controllers
- Steam Deck (Left trackpad)
- Switch Joy Cons
- Xbox One Controller
- DualShock 4 (PS4)
- Wii U Pro Controller
- Xbox 360 Controller(s)
- DualShock 3 (PS3)
- Different colours/variants (at least a black DualSense)
- A separate pack with 2D glyphs that better match the game's style (feel free to beat me to it)
Special Thanks
- Nerrel and GhostlyDark for their excellent texture packs.
- Wiseguy, Dario, and everyone else who made N64 Recompiled and RT64 possible.
