Masked Fate

Masked Fate reimagines Majora's Mask with RPG progression, stamina-driven combat, deeper mask gameplay, and a stronger focus on mastering each form.

Grow Link through combat, spend stat points, manage stamina in fights, and make each transformation feel more distinct. The mod adds progression systems while keeping the core adventure and rhythm of Termina intact.

  • Stamina costs for combat, dodging, blocking, and some mask abilities.
  • Shield durability, repairs, and defensive timing.
  • Cursed Hearts after game overs.
  • Perfect parries, including support for two-handed swords.
  • Perfect dodges, critical hits, and counter-attack bonuses.
  • Mask mastery bonuses for Deku, Goron, Zora, and Fierce Deity.
  • Enhanced rolling and smoother z-target behavior.

Requirements

  • EZ Text Replacer API 2.3.0 or newer.

Notes

  • Masked Fate is heavily inspired by Demon's Quest.
  • Deku Shield and Biggoron Sword textures are from OOT-Reloaded.
  • Saves created with a previous version of Masked Fate may not be compatible after updating the mod. Starting a fresh save is recommended if you encounter progression, inventory, stat, or combat-system issues.
  • This mod is still a work in progress. Bugs, balance issues, and unfinished behavior can happen.
  • The enemy XP reward system is implemented, but it is not final yet. Enemy XP values still need balancing.

Standalone Mods and Future Modpack

A Masked Fate modpack is planned to improve the full experience. Some systems may move in or out of the main mod between versions when they become standalone mods.

For example, a version of Masked Fate may include a system such as a health bar, then a later version may no longer include it because a standalone mod was created for that feature. Those standalone mods are likely to be included in the future modpack instead of staying bundled directly inside Masked Fate.

Configuration

The mod includes options for difficulty, shared or separate form stat progression, direct stat point editing, XP farming penalty, enhanced rolling, stamina wheel visibility, Cursed Hearts, and Song of Time healing.
