README

Beetleball Sandbox

A creative MelonLoader menu for the Beetleball Demo IL2CPP build. It provides local sandbox tuning, host tools, camera controls, announcements, player utilities, and Beetle Egg quality-of-life options.

Intended for offline play and consensual private/custom servers. Respect the lobby host and other players.

Installation

Install with Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman. The package declares MelonLoader 0.7.3 as a dependency.

For a manual installation, install MelonLoader 0.7.3 first and place BeetleballSandbox.dll in the game's Mods folder.

Opening the menu

  • Press F5 or Insert to open or close the menu.
  • The menu locks Beetleball's gameplay input while open, preventing menu clicks and typing from moving the camera or beetle.
  • Use the PLAYER, BALL, SERVER, PLAYERS, MESSAGE, and EGGS tabs.

Features

  • Player movement, sprint, jump, gravity, size, flight/glide speed, cooldown, and anti-stun tuning.
  • Ball mass, gravity, freeze, scale, launch, spin, recall, stop, spawn, and loose-dung controls.
  • Global ball sizing, all-player cooldown controls, hosted match reset/restart, spectator spawning, team selection, and player freeze/scale tools.
  • FOV, manual camera distance, and automatic camera distance for very large beetles.
  • Local XP and exact-level controls, including a persistent local display override when Steam rejects an unusually high value.
  • Local Beetle Egg rarity override and accelerated hatch animation.
  • Connected-session messages through Beetleball's all-player chat, with on-screen popup mirroring when the receiving client also runs Beetleball Sandbox.
  • Saved local privacy/display options for lobby notices, leaderboard visibility, and the connected player board.

Multiplayer behavior

  • Local and owner-safe settings apply immediately.
  • Shared world changes remain subject to Beetleball's server authority. A vanilla host can accept only the game's own permitted RPCs; mod-specific requests require a modded host.
  • The modded host's custom joined-client relay is session-only and OFF by default. A host must explicitly enable it on the SERVER tab before modded joined clients can request shared world/admin changes.
  • Unmodified clients can receive built-in chat announcements and server-synchronized world changes. Arbitrary on-screen popup text requires this mod on the receiving client because Beetleball has no stock text-popup ClientRpc.
  • Persistent XP, levels, skins, and currency belong to each player's local Steam profile service and cannot be granted remotely to an unmodified client.
  • The package does not bypass kicks, bans, Steam lobby ownership, connection approval, or host migration.

Compatibility and safety

  • Built for the current Beetleball Demo IL2CPP release and MelonLoader 0.7.3.
  • Game updates may require a new build because generated IL2CPP wrappers can change.
  • No installer, native executable, telemetry, or external web service is bundled. The archive contains only documentation, the icon, manifest, and managed mod DLL.
  • Custom host relay access uses secure defaults: disabled for every new session unless the host knowingly opts in.
  • Extreme physics values can destabilize a match. Use large multipliers carefully and only where everyone has agreed to sandbox play.

Troubleshooting

Check Beetleball Demo/MelonLoader/Latest.log for Beetleball Sandbox loaded. MelonLoader mods cannot be hot-reloaded, so close and restart Beetleball after replacing the DLL.
