🔮 EnderBuoy
Enderpearl-style buoy teleportation for Big Walk.
Turn on any buoy, throw it across the island, and instantly blink to where it lands.
✨ What it does
Buoys in Big Walk are bright, bouncy, and throwable. EnderBuoy transforms lit buoys into high-speed traversal tools:
- Throw to Blink: Toss any lit buoy to teleport instantly to its first point of impact.
- AutoRetrieve (Optional): Automatically snaps the thrown buoy right back into your hands upon landing for rapid, continuous chain-blinking across the island (configurable, off by default).
- Sparkling Flight Trail: Emits a luminous, shimmering comet tail of sparkling embers and trailing wisps dynamically tinted to your outfit's palette while the buoy is airborne.
- Smart Landings: Automatic slope alignment, wall clearance, and ground probing prevent getting stuck in cliffs, rocks, or geometry.
- Departure & Arrival DoublePuff: Unmodded vanilla clients across the lobby now see you vanish in a colorful
DoublePuff(Torso + Legs) in random colors, and materialize at the destination with another random-colored double burst! - Outfit-Matching VFX: Mod users continue to see your high-fidelity 3.0s billowing smoke clouds and 35 directional spark bursts matching your exact clothing colors.
- Dual 3D Spatial Audio: Plays atmospheric throw whoosh sounds at both departure and arrival points.
- Multiplayer Buoy Caching: Periodic 5.0s buoy scan eliminates 99% of loop overhead and string allocations across 500+ island props.
- Safe by Default: By default, only lit buoys teleport you (
RequireLit = true). Turn the buoy's lamp off to toss it around normally.
You can toggle the teleport effect on and off at any time using F7 (configurable).
✨ How It Works
| State | Lamp Turned OFF | Lamp Turned ON |
|---|---|---|
| Throw Action | Normal physics toss. Buoy bounces and rolls normally. | Ender blink active! Player teleports to point of first solid impact. |
| In Flight | Normal gravity arc. | Luminous sparkling trail matching your outfit colors. |
| Visual Effects | None. | Dual departure + arrival smoke clouds & spark bursts matching player clothing. |
| Audio | Normal buoy throw sounds. | 3D spatial whoosh at takeoff and landing. |
| AutoRetrieve | Stays on the ground. | Snaps back into hands upon landing when enabled in menu. |
| Friends' View | Normal throw. | Modded friends see your custom-colored smoke and hear the whoosh. Vanilla clients see departure & arrival random-colored DoublePuffs. |
🆕 1.1.1 Changes
- No settings-mod dependency: EnderBuoy no longer references or requires ModSettingsMenu. On Big Walk 1.6, MSM 1.1.2 fails to build its own settings panel (it hard-codes native menu row names the game renamed), and the old hard dependency meant a broken settings menu could take EnderBuoy down with it. EnderBuoy now loads on its own and shows its rows in whichever settings menu you have installed.
- Big Walk 1.6 compatibility: rebuilt and verified against the 1.6 interop assemblies.
🆕 1.1.0 Changes
- AutoRetrieve Setting: Automatically snaps the buoy back into your hands upon landing for continuous chain teleporting.
- Sparkling Flight Trail: Continuous trailing embers and wisps following the buoy in flight keyed to player outfit colors.
- Departure & Arrival DoublePuff: Vanilla clients across the lobby see you vanish in a random-colored double burst (Torso + Legs) and explode into view at the destination with another random double burst.
- Dual Spatial Audio: Throw whoosh sounds now play at both takeoff and landing coordinates.
- Multiplayer Tracking Optimization: Periodic 5-second buoy caching cuts 99% of loop overhead across 500+ props during multiplayer distance checks.
⚙️ Settings
Configurable in game with any settings-menu mod you have installed, or by editing BepInEx/config/walker.enderbuoy.cfg:
Blink
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
BlinkEnabled |
true |
Enables/disables teleportation on throw. Can be toggled on-the-fly via hotkey. |
RequireLit |
true |
When true, only lit buoys teleport you. Unlit buoys behave normally. |
MaxDistance |
60.0 |
Maximum allowed teleport range in meters (10m to 200m slider). Throws that travel farther will not teleport. |
AutoRetrieve |
false |
Automatically snaps the buoy back into your hands upon landing for rapid chain blinking. |
Diagnostics |
false |
Enables verbose tracking and physics logs in LogOutput.log. |
Effects
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
PlaySound |
true |
Plays 3D spatial throw sound effects at departure and arrival coordinates. |
FlightTrail |
true |
Emits a luminous sparkling trail behind the buoy in flight matching your outfit colors. |
SpawnSmoke |
true |
Spawns outfit-colored smoke puffs and spark bursts at departure and arrival. |
General & Input
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
Enabled |
true |
Master switch. When disabled, the mod is completely dormant. |
ToggleKey |
F7 |
Keyboard shortcut to toggle BlinkEnabled on and off. |
🚀 Installation
- Install this package with your Thunderstore mod manager.
- Make sure BepInEx 6 IL2CPP is installed. No other mod is required — a settings menu (ModSettingsMenu, cfgMenu, …) is optional and only needed to change settings in game.
- Launch Big Walk.
- Pick up a buoy, turn its lamp ON, and throw!
Big Walk 1.6 note: ModSettingsMenu 1.1.2 itself no longer builds its settings panel on 1.6 (an MSM bug — it looks up native menu rows the game renamed). EnderBuoy is unaffected; use cfgMenu or edit
BepInEx/config/walker.enderbuoy.cfguntil MSM updates.
