README

Tac Ping

A squad marker system for BONELAB. Point at anything, press a button, and a holographic marker appears in the world — with a live distance readout, and visible to everyone in your Fusion lobby.

Everything is drawn procedurally at runtime. No asset bundle.

How to use

Tap the ping button while pointing to place a marker.

Hold the button and a type fan opens at your hand. Roll your wrist left or right to pick the type, keep pointing wherever you like, and release to place it.

Roll and aim are independent — turning your wrist changes the selection, pointing your hand changes where the marker lands, and neither affects the other. A beam and a target ring show exactly where it will go while you hold.

Type Use
GO Move here / rally point
ENEMY Contact
LOOT Something worth grabbing
DANGER Hazard, don't go there
DEFEND Hold this position

Each marker is a beam with a rotating ground ring, a billboarded icon and a label showing the type, the distance in metres, and who placed it. A shockwave ring fires on placement so teammates catch it in peripheral vision. Markers scale with distance so a ping across the map stays readable, and they draw through walls by default.

They expire after 20 seconds, and each player is capped at 8 markers — placing a ninth retires your oldest, so nobody can spam the world.

Multiplayer

Markers replicate through LabFusion using a custom module message, so every player in the lobby sees them with the placer's name attached. LabFusion is optional — without it the mod runs fine and markers are local to you.

Both players need the mod to see each other's markers. Anyone without it is unaffected — the message is simply ignored on their end.

Muting

BoneMenu → Tac Ping → Players lists everyone in the lobby with a toggle each. Turn someone off and their markers stop appearing, and any they already placed are removed immediately.

Mutes are remembered by name across sessions and lobbies, so a player you muted once stays muted next time you play with them. Unmute Everyone clears the list.

Show Other Players Markers on the main page is the master switch if you just want silence. Share In Fusion Lobbies controls the other direction — whether your markers are sent at all.

Configuration

BoneMenu → Tac Ping

  • Ping Button — A, B or Menu
  • Ping With Right Hand — swap hands
  • Require Empty Hand — only ping when not holding something, so it can't fire mid-fight
  • Share In Fusion Lobbies — turn off to keep markers private
  • Clear My Markers

Under Tuning: hold time, lifetime, max range, markers per player, scale, hue shift, see-through-walls, distance readout and haptics.

If the ping button conflicts with something else you use, change it first — B is the default because it's the least contested.

Requirements

  • MelonLoader
  • BoneLib
  • LabFusion (optional)
