What This Mod Does
Adds realistic brain injuries that can occur when an NPC dies from a head wound, unconsciousness and optional gameplay improvements.
Please note that this mod is still in development and may not be perfect! If you have any suggestions or complaints, please contact me (contact details below).
Brain Injuries
Injuries are based on real neurological responses that can occur after fatal brain trauma:
| Injury / Reaction | Description |
|---|---|
| Decorticate (Flexor) | Abnormal flexion of arms with extension of legs |
| Decerebrate (Extensor) | Full extension of arms and legs with arched back |
| Fencing Response | Asymmetrical arm extension and flexion upon impact |
| Collapse | Complete loss of muscle tension |
| Flaccid Paralysis | Partial initial muscle tension that gradually fades |
| Forward Buckle | Immediate collapse of upper body with little tension in legs |
| Seizures | Severe head trauma causing short seizure attacks |
Unconsciousness
A strong enough blow to the head can cause an NPC to lose consciousness temporarily. The NPC will collapse and remain incapacitated for a period of time before recovering.
Only triggered by blunt attacks.
Optional Improvements
- Reduced Torso Damage — Torso is slightly more durable
- Reduced Blunt Head Damage — Head is slightly more resistant to blunt force
Settings
All options are available in-game via BoneMenu. All settings are enabled by default.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Knockouts / Unconscious | Enables or disables temporary unconsciousness |
| Brain Injuries | Enables or disables posturing and brain injury reactions on death |
| Seizures | Enables or disables seizure attacks |

| Piercing Seizure Chance % | Adjusts the percentage chance of triggering a seizure from piercing head trauma |

| Immediate Reactions Weights | Customizes the frequency scale (e.g. Disabled, Low, Default, High) for individual initial impact reactions |
| Posturing Types Weights | Customizes the frequency scale for individual posturing types (Flexor, Extensor, etc.) |
| Restore to Default | Resets all reaction weights and seizure chances back to their factory values |
My Other Mods
- NoDeathAnimations - Works good with Brain Injuries mod. (Even nessesary for effect)
Special thanks to people who helped with bug reports
- M1st – for identifying the: spawning limp NPCs issue.
Known issues
- Level loading time is longer than natural (probably due to clearing NPC's data to prevent memory conflicts)
- Sometimes spawning NPCs can cause them to go limp (90% sure it's fixed)
- After resetting weights to default in Bonemenu, buttons will still be shown as old values (I don't know if there is a way to fix it)
