A BONELAB mod for making life easier for other mod creators.
Preferred version: 3.2.2README
UPDATE 1.6.0 - Airlock, escape pod, keypad lock, movie corner, sit anywhere, equalizer
The biggest update yet. New: an airlock (idea by Angel_Biscuit from the mod.io community): throw things, NPCs or friends out of the ship, flying, hovering or landed. New: an escape pod docked on the airlock through a jet-bridge tunnel: launch it in flight or on the ground, ride it down under its parachute, fly it back to the ship. Inside: a movie screen, a live camera (FRONT / REAR / DOWN) and round windows. New: a keypad lock with a shock trap: ships spawn unlocked, LOCK makes the controls need your code. New: a movie corner with a loveseat and a big wall screen that plays your own video files (also on the pod's screen). New: sit on any seat (look at it, hold B) and a ship equalizer in BoneMenu. Buttons are pressed with your index fingertip now, one press = one action, and a button that can't run says why on its screen. This update needs the 1.6.0 content pack from mod.io too, and everyone in a lobby needs 1.6.0.
1.0.5 added the "Add your own music" guide. 1.0.4 fixed a freeze when a ship spawned inside another one, and added Max ships in BoneMenu.
Meridian Ark
This is the code mod for Meridian Ark. You ALSO need the Meridian Ark content pack from mod.io. Both are required.
PC only. Made with AI: this mod was created with AI assistance.
Install
- Install this mod with your mod manager. It brings MelonLoader and BoneLib.
- Subscribe to Meridian Ark | CODE MOD REQUIRED on mod.io for BONELAB.
- Start the game and find the StationShip pallet in your spawn menu.
Add your own music
- Start BONELAB once with this mod. It makes the folder
UserData\MeridianArk\Musicinside your BONELAB folder. With Steam that's usuallyC:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BONELAB\UserData\MeridianArk\Music. If you start the game from a mod manager (r2modman, Gale, Thunderstore Mod Manager), the folder is in that profile's folder instead: open the profile folder from the manager, thenUserData\MeridianArk\Music. - Put your songs there: MP3, WAV, M4A, WMA or FLAC. OGG doesn't work.
- In game: BoneMenu > Station Ship > Launch music > Refresh my songs folder. A message says how many songs it found.
- On the jukebox in the garden, press NEXT SONG until your song's name shows, then press PLAY/STOP. The Song button on the Launch music page picks it too, and it's also the song LAUNCH TOWER plays.
In Fusion: songs are matched by file name. Friends hear your song only if they have a file with the same name (for example My Song.mp3) in their own Music folder. If they don't, their jukebox says NOT ON THIS PC.
Watch your own movies
- Start the game once with this version: it makes the folder
UserData\MeridianArk\Movies(in BONELAB's folder, or in your mod manager's profile folder) with a README in it. - Put your video files in it. Best: MP4 (H.264 video, AAC sound), 720p or 1080p. Usually also fine: .m4v, .mov, .webm, .wmv, .avi. Not supported: .mkv, and H.265/HEVC unless Windows has the HEVC extension. 4K is too heavy for VR. Long films (3 hours and more) are fine: they play straight from the file.
- In BoneMenu: Station Ship > Movies > Refresh movies folder.
- In the movie corner (the quiet room behind the garden's plant racks: walk in from the living quarters), sit on the loveseat and press PLAY on the panel beside it, or pick a movie in BoneMenu > Movies > Pick a movie.
In Fusion: friends see a movie only if they have a file with the same name in their own Movies folder. It plays at the same moment for everyone who has it; the others see MOVIE NOT FOUND. Only the name and the position travel, never the video.
Features
- Sit anywhere: look at any seat (living quarters, lab console, loveseat, escape pod) and hold B for a second to sit; hold B again to stand. Your hands, buttons and the stick still work while seated. At launch you stay belted in.
- Equalizer: BoneMenu > Station Ship > Equalizer: bass, low-mid, mid, high-mid, treble (-12 to +12 dB), volume, and presets FLAT, BASS BOOST, CLUB/HOUSE, VOCAL, MOVIE, NIGHT. Changes the ship's music and the movie corner, not voices or alarms. Your own setting, remembered. The jukebox's screen shows 5 bouncing EQ bars.
- Movie corner: a loveseat and a big RGB-edged wall screen in a quiet room behind the garden. Plays your own video files, with play/pause, rewind and fast forward (hold for 2x, 4x, 8x; tap for 30 s), previous/next, volume and screen off. The jukebox waits while a movie plays.
- Flight: tower launch, direct launch, hover, manual flying and auto landing.
- Launch Tower: a crane lifts the ship, turns it upright and lowers it into the stand. Countdown, clamps and liftoff follow.
- Riding: seatbelts hold you through the launch. Walkers stay on the deck, and you're put back aboard if you fall out of a closed ship in flight.
- Loose props ride too: food, guns and items inside the ship stay in place while it moves, and go back to normal when it stops. Grab one at any time.
- Weapons: laser and warhead with damage, shockwave and target beacons.
- Loudspeaker and TALK: broadcast messages and your live voice play only at the target on the ground, with a radio sound.
- Ship computer: voiced lines over the ship's speakers.
- Music: launch music with its drop at liftoff, and a jukebox that plays any time.
- Your own songs: play your own music files on the jukebox. See "Add your own music" above. The folder starts empty.
- RGB lights: speakers and jukebox tubes pulse to the music, or use rainbow, solid color or off.
- Piranha tank: the fish swim, hunt, bite your hand, flinch and fight back. Food sinks or floats in the water and starts a frenzy.
- Cabin dimmer: 100%, 60%, 30% and NIGHT.
- Escape pod: a capsule docked on the airlock's outer door through a jet-bridge tunnel. Sit down, lift the striped guard, press LAUNCH POD: the hatches seal, the tunnel folds away, the clamps let go, the pod pushes off, fires its thrusters and comes down under a stars-and-stripes parachute. From high up it falls fast, then opens the chute under 150 m. It stays where it lands until you call it back. Inside: a small movie screen (the same movie as the movie corner), a live camera screen and 2 round windows.
- Keypad lock: keypads on the outside panel, in the lab and in the pod. Ships spawn UNLOCKED: everyone may use everything. Press LOCK and every control that matters needs the 4-digit code (BoneMenu, default 1234), the owner's too; typing it gives access to that player only. 3 wrong codes = a lightning shock from the keypad and the sky, INTRUDER ALERT, and 30 seconds locked out with an alarm (the shock's strength is the owner's choice). Jukebox, lights and doors from inside stay free for everyone. RGB keypads: rainbow when idle, green for ACCESS GRANTED, red for LOCKED.
- Clear answers: a button that can't run right now says why on the screen next to it: LOCKED - ENTER CODE ON A KEYPAD, CAN'T OPEN - WHILE FLYING, LIFT COVER, and so on.
- Airlock: a small room off the walkway with sliding inner and outer doors. Only one door opens at a time. Put things, NPCs or players inside, shut the inner door, lift the cover and press EJECT: 3 seconds of countdown and alarm, then the outer door snaps open with a rush of air and everything inside is blown out of the ship.
Controls
Panel beside the ramp
- OPEN/CLOSE: the hull (not while a launch counts down, flies or lands: the screen says why). LAUNCH DIRECT and LAUNCH TOWER start a flight. ABORT is under the red cover. Press with your index fingertip.
Lab console
- POWER turns it on. ARM, then FIRE. Pick the target, weapon and yield with the buttons.
- LAND, SET LZ, CAMERA and FLY / AIM are on the console. Turn the SPEED knob for slow, medium or fast.
- Left shelf: pick a message and press BROADCAST. Hold TALK to speak at the target.
Joystick, while holding it
- Tilt: fly or aim. B switches between FLY and AIM.
- Trigger: fire. Top button: lock target. A: light.
- Thumbstick: altitude and turning in FLY, zoom in AIM.
Airlock, on the walkway's left wall between the quarters and the lab
- OPEN and CLOSE: the inner door. EJECT is the big red button under the clear cover: lift the cover first. The inner door must be shut.
- Inside the airlock, OPEN DOOR opens the inner door, or stops a countdown. Anyone inside gets a 3 second warning.
Escape pod, through the airlock's outer door
- Walk through the airlock and the tunnel (duck: the hatch is 1.88 m). Sitting and facing the hatch: on the LEFT of the door the movie screen over the keypad, on the RIGHT the camera screen over the control panel. HATCH opens and shuts it (it swings against the right wall). LAUNCH POD is under the yellow and black guard: lift it first. Riders are belted in and held still in their seats until the hatch opens on the ground. RETURN TO SHIP (inside, or on the pod's small outside panel) flies it back up on its thrusters and docks it on the airlock again.
- The camera screen shows FRONT when you get in, with a red LIVE mark. CAM switches FRONT / REAR, and DOWN once the pod has left the ship. The movie screen shows whatever plays in the movie corner (pick and play it in BoneMenu > Station Ship > Movies); its sound comes from the screen you're nearer.
- The airlock's EJECT is refused while the pod is docked: its outer door is held open onto the tunnel.
Keypads: outside panel, lab wall beside the console, inside the pod
- Type the 4 digits, then ENT (the big round button). CLR clears. Press the keys with your index fingertip (other fingers and the palm don't count). LOCK locks the ship for everyone, the owner too: type the code to get back in. The screen shows UNLOCKED, LOCKED, ENTER CODE, ****, ACCESS GRANTED with your name, or ACCESS DENIED.
Seats, everywhere
- Look at a free seat and hold B: a ring fills, then you sit. Hold B again to stand up (not while the SEATBELTS sign is on).
Movie corner, behind the garden's plant racks (walk in from the living quarters)
- The panel beside the loveseat: PLAY/PAUSE, REWIND, FAST FORWARD (hold to go 2x, 4x, 8x; tap to jump 30 s), SCREEN OFF, PREVIOUS, NEXT, VOL -, VOL +. The screens show the movie's name, the time (e.g. 1:12:40 / 3:02:15), a progress bar and the speed.
Jukebox, in the garden
- PLAY/STOP, NEXT SONG, VOL -, VOL +, LIGHTS and PLAY AT LAUNCH.
Launch Tower panel
- LOAD, LAUNCH TOWER, LAUNCH DIRECT, ABORT and MUSIC ON/OFF.

Fusion
- Fusion is optional. It isn't needed to play alone.
- Everyone in a lobby needs this mod and the content pack, at the same version.
- The host's game runs the ship. If the host doesn't have the mod, the next player who does takes over.
- Everyone needs the same version. With POWER on, the console wall lists every player and their version, and anyone who doesn't match is shown in red. Their presses are ignored until they update.
- Something wrong? BoneMenu > Station Ship > Where is my netlog? shows the file to send.
- The keypad lock: the host checks every press by the player's Fusion id. A typed code goes only to the host to check, never to the other players, and is never written in a log.
- The escape pod is run by the host; everyone sees it seal, fly and land from the host's start time.
- Flights, the tower, doors, buttons, the airlock, music, volume, lights, cabin dimmer and fish are shared. The host runs the airlock; everyone sees its doors and what it blows out.
- Friends hear a song from your folder only if they have a file with the same name (see "Add your own music"). Otherwise their jukebox says NOT ON THIS PC.
- TALK only works in a Fusion lobby. Friends hear you within about 150 m of the target.
- Fusion has one voice per player, so while TALK is held your normal voice uses the ship's mic too. It goes back when you let go.
- Spawn the ship after the lobby is open.
