Suppression
A bullet suppression effect for BONELAB. When enemy bullets fly close to your head or body, the screen edges darken, the image blurs and gains contrast, sounds get muffled and your ears ring for a moment, so heavy fire actually feels dangerous.
Your own shots never trigger it - only bullets fired by NPCs and other guns.
Features
- Close-pass detection - the mod checks how close each bullet's line of fire comes to your head and chest, and whether something blocks it on the way. Far-away bullets do nothing.
- Screen - the screen edges darken and the vignette slides toward the side the bullets came from. The whole picture gets a little darker.
- Blur and contrast - blur, extra contrast, slight desaturation and a bit of chromatic aberration (optional lens distortion), using the game's own post-processing.
- Sound - everything gets muffled for a moment, with a short ear ringing. Optional bullet whiz sounds and an optional heartbeat.
- Dynamic - the closer the bullet, the stronger the effect. Several bullets in a short time stack up and last longer, but the effect is capped and always fades smoothly. A rare close shot is barely noticeable, heavy fire is intense.
- You always keep full control of movement and weapons. There is no camera shake.
