README

BoplPlus24

BoplPlus24 adds 24 new abilities to Bopl Battle.

Most of them are built around messing with players, projectiles, physics, or the map instead of just being another way to deal damage.

It works in both local and online multiplayer.

Install

Install it with r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager.

Pick Bopl Battle, search for BoplPlus24, and install it. BepInEx-BepInExPack should install automatically as a dependency.

Then launch the game through the mod manager.

Manual

Install BepInExPack into your Bopl Battle folder, then put BoplPlus24.dll in:

Bopl Battle\BepInEx\plugins\BoplPlus24\

To uninstall it, delete that folder.

Online multiplayer

Everyone in the lobby needs the same version of BoplPlus24 and the same gameplay settings.

The mod adds a tag like this to the game's version:

+Mayhem1.0.0-a1b2c3

Bopl already uses that version for lobbies, so:

  • You only match with people using the same setup.
  • Different versions or settings give the normal version mismatch message.
  • Vanilla players won't end up in modded lobbies.

Bopl only sends player inputs over the network and simulates the match separately on every client.

BoplPlus24 works through that same system and doesn't add extra gameplay networking.

I also test it by running the same bot match in two game instances and comparing Bopl's desync checksum every tick.

Settings

After launching the mod once, a config file called com.boplmayhem.mayhem.cfg is created.

In r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager, open it from Config editor. For a manual install it's in Bopl Battle\BepInEx\config\.

Every ability can be turned off individually.

You can also change its cooldown and other values.

Disabled abilities are removed from the ability grid and Random.

Changing gameplay settings also changes your lobby tag, so everyone you're playing with needs the same config.

Abilities

They use the same controls as normal Bopl abilities.

Press again means the ability has a second activation.

Hold means you keep the button held.

Anything that needs aiming uses your normal aim direction.

Switcheroo (4s)

Shoot a marble that swaps your position and momentum with the first thing it hits.

It works on players, arrows, rocks, your Echo, and other stuff.

You can also swap with something flying at you to dodge it.

Portals (8s, press again)

Place one portal, then press again to place the second.

For 7 seconds, anything that goes into one comes out of the other with the same speed.

Players, arrows, grenades, black holes, and other objects can all go through.

Anyone can use your portals.

Piggy Bank (6s, press again)

Store your current speed and stop moving.

Press again to launch yourself in the direction you're aiming using the speed you saved.

You get a little extra speed when you spend it.

The coin above you gets bigger depending on how much speed is stored.

Hoverpad (9s, hold)

Spawn a small platform under yourself.

Hold the button to move it around for up to 3 seconds.

Other players can stand on it and it can block shots.

It blinks before disappearing.

Echo (7s, press again)

Spawn a copy of yourself that repeats your last 2.5 seconds of movement.

It can push players and knock projectiles around.

Press again to swap places with it.

Its path is shown faintly so other players can tell where it's going.

Orbit (7s)

Place a small planet that bends projectiles around itself and pulls players slightly toward it.

When it disappears, nearby things get thrown outward.

It shakes before it pops.

Rebound (6s)

Send out a short-range pulse that reverses the movement of nearby things.

Projectiles you rebound become yours.

Mitt (5s, hold)

Hold up a glove that catches the first projectile that hits it.

Let go to throw it back where you're aiming.

Caught projectiles become yours.

Grenades keep ticking while you're holding them.

Hijack (6s)

Grab a nearby projectile and control where it goes for 2 seconds.

It prefers whatever you're aiming closest to.

Turning is limited so it isn't impossible to dodge.

Jet Stream (7s)

Create a gust of wind in the direction you're aiming for 4 seconds.

Players and projectiles inside it get pushed along.

You can aim it upward for lift or sideways to push someone off the map.

Polarity (8s)

Place a magnet.

It pulls projectiles toward itself and pushes players away.

This also means you can do stupid stuff like pile grenades around it.

Bubble (8s, press again)

Create a bubble that catches projectiles.

Press again to pop it and fire everything inside in the direction you're aiming.

Those projectiles become yours.

If you don't pop it yourself, it eventually bursts and throws everything out.

Bungee (6s, press again)

Attach a stretchy cord to a player, object, or part of the map.

Press again, or wait 3 seconds, and both ends get pulled together.

The farther apart they are, the harder the pull.

Chain (9s)

Throw a shackle at another player.

If it hits, you're chained together for 4 seconds.

You can't move too far apart and heavy knockback on one player can drag the other.

Portals and swaps can break it.

Trampoline (6s)

Place a trampoline on the nearest surface.

It can go on floors, walls, or ceilings.

Players bounce off it and projectiles get reflected.

You can have two placed at once.

Turntable (12s)

Rotate part of the arena 90 degrees.

Platforms and players standing on them rotate with it.

Everything moves back after 6 seconds.

The pin starts wobbling before it resets.

Tractor (10s)

Grab a platform and drag it toward yourself.

After 5 seconds it moves back to where it started.

You can use it as a bridge, move someone's floor, or shove the platform into them.

Flip Bomb (8s)

Throw a bomb that creates an upside-down gravity area for 4 seconds.

Players fall upward and projectiles curve the opposite way.

Slimes already attached to a surface stay there.

Gift (7s)

Drop a fake ability pickup.

Anyone who grabs it gets launched upward.

Your teammates can't trigger it.

Projectiles can also destroy it safely.

Real pickups cycle between abilities. Gift doesn't, so you can tell if you're paying attention.

Hot Potato (9s)

Throw a lit potato.

Whoever it hits gets it stuck to their head.

Touching another player passes it to them.

After 5 seconds it explodes on whoever has it.

It shakes faster as the timer gets lower and plays the mine warning sound one second before exploding.

Mimic (8s)

Tag a nearby player and copy the last ability they used.

You get one use of it immediately.

After using it, Mimic comes back.

Shuffle (14s)

After a short warning, every player swaps positions at the same time.

Arrows show where everyone is going beforehand.

Nobody stays in the same spot, including you.

Anvil (8s)

Become heavy for 3 seconds.

You take much less knockback, fall faster, and slam the ground when you land.

Landing bounces nearby players away.

An anvil shows above you while it's active.

Explosions can still move you.

Pinata (8s)

Hang up a pinata.

Every hit makes it bigger.

After 5 hits, or after 8 seconds, it explodes and launches everyone nearby.

The more it gets hit, the stronger the explosion is.

It starts shaking when it's about to go off.
