DRGS Multiplayer
Online co-op for Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, for up to 4 players over a Steam friends lobby.
This is a beta. It works, and it has been tested end to end, but only on Endless missions and mostly
between two game instances on one PC. Expect rough edges, and please report problems with your
BepInEx/LogOutput.log attached.
Installing
Install it with a mod manager (r2modman, Thunderstore Mod Manager or Gale) and launch the game from there. BepInEx comes along as a dependency; there is nothing to download by hand.
Your first launch does something unusual. The game currently runs on Unity 6000.4, and the BepInEx build on Thunderstore cannot generate its interop assemblies for it, which is why no mod loads on this game right now (BepInEx#1350). This mod repairs that itself:
- Press play. A message appears saying BepInEx has been updated, and the game closes.
- Press play again. This launch takes a few minutes showing no window at all while BepInEx rebuilds its files. That is normal, so give it time and don't kill it.
- From then on the game starts normally and the mod is loaded.
This only happens once per install, and again if your mod manager ever reinstalls BepInEx.
Installing by hand instead: put plugins/DRGSMultiplayer.dll in BepInEx/plugins/ and
patchers/DRGSMultiplayer.Bootstrap.dll in BepInEx/patchers/, keeping the same two steps above.
Requirements
- Every player needs the mod, at exactly the same version. Mismatched versions refuse to connect and say so.
- Every player needs the game on Steam and has to be Steam friends with the host.
- Linux and Steam Deck: add
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp=n,b" %command%to the game's launch options and use a recent Proton.
Using it
- Start the game and wait for the main menu.
- Press F8 to open the multiplayer overlay.
- The host clicks Host. Everyone else picks the host's lobby from the friends list, or pastes the lobby ID and clicks Paste+Join.
- Once everyone is connected, the host chooses the mission and starts the run. Clients follow automatically.
Only the host can start a run; a client that tries is told to wait. Leaving the lobby puts you back in normal single-player.
What is synced
- Every player sees the others' dwarfs, with their class skin, name and health, plus minimap dots and an edge arrow when a teammate is out of range.
- Enemies, bosses and elites are simulated by the host and mirrored on clients, along with their attacks.
- Mission objectives, the drop pod, supply pods, level pickups and terrain edits are shared, so everyone is working on the same world rather than a private copy of it.
- Pausing for a level-up does not freeze the other players.
- Downed, revive, stage end, shop and run end are handled across the group.
What is not
- Endless is the only tested mission type. Others may start, but their objectives are not synced yet (Egg Hunt, Escort and Point Extraction in particular).
- Joining a run that is already in progress does not work. Everyone has to be in the lobby before the host starts.
- Mining and vehicle animations are not mirrored on other players' dwarfs.
- Campaign mission-road state is not synced, so stick to plain missions without mutators, challenges, or daily/weekly runs.
Configuration
BepInEx/config/drgs.multiplayer.cfg is created on first launch.

Reporting problems
Open an issue at the source link below with BepInEx/LogOutput.log from every player involved, and
say which mission type you were on and what each of you saw. Lines tagged [net], [proxy] and [diag]
are the useful ones.
Uninstalling
Remove the mod in your mod manager, or delete BepInEx/plugins/DRGSMultiplayer and
BepInEx/patchers/DRGSMultiplayer. The repaired BepInEx file stays behind, which is harmless and keeps
other mods working; BepInEx/core/Il2CppInterop.Generator.dll.stock is the original if you want it back.
