README
Star System Explorer
Star System Explorer is a fast, modern galaxy browser for Dyson Sphere Program. It is designed to expose useful star-system and planet information with minimal FPS impact, both during normal gameplay and from the New Game galaxy preview.
Features
- Browse all star systems, stars, and planets in a resizable Windows 11-style window.
- Search and filter by planet/star type and star system.
- Sort by clicking table headers.
- Resize table columns independently and scroll horizontally when needed.
- View cached resource amounts with adaptive multi-line rows.
- Locate stars and planets during live gameplay.
- Rescan live resource data on demand.
- Inspect the galaxy shown on the New Game screen without generating another galaxy.
- Scan preview planets or systems only when requested, avoiding automatic galaxy-wide resource scans.
- Works with vanilla galaxies and supports Galactic Scale as an optional soft dependency.
- Blocks clicks and other game input behind the Explorer window while it is open.
- Uses cached data and viewport-based row virtualization to minimize FPS impact.
Usage
Press F6 to open or close Star System Explorer.
Use Explore to switch between all systems, stars, and planets. Search, filters, sorting, column resizing, Locate, Rescan, and preview Scan controls are available directly in the Explorer window.
Requirements
- Dyson Sphere Program
- BepInEx 5.4.17
Galactic Scale is optional. When it is installed, Star System Explorer reads the active Galactic Scale preview galaxy and does not replace or duplicate Galactic Scale's generation process.
Installation
Install with the Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman. BepInEx will be installed automatically as a dependency.
For a manual installation, install BepInEx and place Star.System.Explorer.v.2.5.5.dll in a folder under Dyson Sphere Program/BepInEx/plugins/.

CHANGELOG
v2.5.5
- Removed the Resources dropdown/filter from the sidebar while leaving the Resources table column and resource amounts intact.
- Alphabetized Planet/Star type and Star system dropdown choices while keeping All pinned at the top.
- Moved the Planet/Star type dropdown lower to prevent its border from clipping the label above it and gave both remaining filters cleaner vertical spacing.
- Preserved Explore view behavior, star Locate, independent column resizing, adjustable Resources column, horizontal scrolling, preview scanning, Rescan, and DSP input blocking.
v2.5.4
- Removed the entire VIEW section and its Group by star system, Star systems only, and Resource amounts controls from the sidebar; Explore is now the single source of table-view selection.
- Resource amounts are enabled by default and remain visible without a separate sidebar toggle.
- Moved the FILTERS section upward into the space freed by removing VIEW while preserving dropdown click isolation.
- Added Locate for stars in Explore -> Stars and on the blue star-system group headers in All Star Systems during live gameplay.
- Star Locate uses DSP's native navigation indicator and preserves Rescan, preview Scan, sorting, filters, manual column resizing, and input blocking.
v2.5.3
- Changed Explore -> Planets to a flat planet-only table with no blue star-system group header rows, regardless of the Group by star system setting.
- Reversed only the first two columns in Explore -> Planets so Planet appears first and Star system appears second; all other table views keep the existing Star system then Planet order.
- Kept sorting, automatic/manual column sizing, and user-resized widths aligned with the Planets-specific column order when switching between views.
- Selecting Explore -> Planets now clears Star systems only when necessary so planet rows are always available in that view.
- Preserved v2.5.2 independent column resizing, adjustable Resources column, horizontal scrolling, title-bar X spacing, filters, virtualization, preview scanning, Rescan, and DSP input blocking.
v2.5.2
- Changed manual column resizing to independent, spreadsheet-style behavior: resizing one column moves every column to its right instead of borrowing width from the next column.
- Added horizontal table scrolling when manual column widths extend beyond the visible table area, keeping headers and rows aligned.
- Added a draggable divider on the right edge of Resources so the Resources column itself can now be resized directly.
- Resource width changes continue to recalculate wrapped resource lines and adaptive row heights.
- Preserved the v2.5.1 visible resize grips, moved title-bar X, filters, virtualization, preview scanning, Rescan, and DSP input blocking.
v2.5.1
- Added always-visible grab handles between each named table column, with brighter hover/drag feedback so manual resizing is easy to discover and use.
- Improved the Distance/Resources divider so the Resources column can expand or shrink across the available adjustable table width while the action-button column stays fixed and the table remains aligned.
- Kept adaptive resource wrapping synchronized with manual Resources width changes.
- Moved the Windows-style title-bar X left, leaving a dedicated gap for the upper-right window resize corner.
- Preserved the v2.5.0 automatic column layout, sorting, filters, virtualization, Galactic Scale preview support, Rescan behavior, and DSP input blocking.
v2.5.0
- Added manual table-column resizing by dragging the dividers between the data-column headers.
- Manual resizing transfers width between adjacent columns so the table keeps its existing overall footprint and does not introduce a new horizontal-overflow path.
- Preserved a fixed action-button column so Rescan, Locate, and preview Scan controls keep their proven layout.
- Manual widths remain active for the current game session and are safely fitted when the Explorer window is resized; no config file is generated.
- Resource-row wrapping and cached virtualized row heights automatically rebuild when the Resources column width changes.
- Preserved the flawless v2.4.1 dropdown click-through fix, sidebar spacing, Galactic Scale preview support, Rescan behavior, virtualization, resizing, and DSP input blocking.
v2.4.1
- Fixed the remaining Resources dropdown click-through where selecting No resources could also activate the Reset filters button underneath.
- Strengthened popup input isolation so covered sidebar controls stay disabled for the full IMGUI event cycle while the pointer is over an open dropdown.
- Added more vertical spacing between the three filter dropdown boxes and extra separation above Reset filters.
- Preserved the v2.4.0 dropdown behavior and all existing Explorer functionality.
v2.4.0
- Fixed sidebar dropdown selection click-through where choosing an item could also activate a dropdown button underneath the open list.
- Popup mouse press/release events now suppress covered sidebar filter controls while leaving the popup itself interactive.
- Preserved the v2.3.9 sidebar layout, 17 px section headings, filters, resizing, virtualization, Galactic Scale preview support, Rescan behavior, and DSP input blocking.
v2.3.9
- Increased EXPLORE, VIEW, and FILTERS sidebar section titles from 15 px to 17 px and made them bold.
- Added fitted underlines beneath each sidebar section title for clearer visual hierarchy.
- Normalized the sidebar section spacing so EXPLORE-to-VIEW and VIEW-to-FILTERS each use the same 38 px separation.
- Preserved the v2.3.8 dropdown behavior and all existing Explorer functionality.
v2.3.8
- Increased vertical spacing between EXPLORE, VIEW, and FILTERS so the sidebar sections are more visually distinct.
- Replaced the sidebar filter cycle-buttons with true dropdown selectors for Planet/Star type, Resources, and Star system.
- Added scrollable dropdown lists for large Galactic Scale star-system selections.
- Dropdowns close after selection or when clicking elsewhere in the Explorer window.
- Preserved the clean v2.3.7 title-bar X, search layout, Rescan behavior, virtualization, and input blocking.
v2.3.7
- Integrated Planet type, Resources, and Star system filter controls directly into the left sidebar.
- Removed the separate Filters toolbar button, popup window, and extra popup input blocker.
- Added a Windows File Explorer-style title-bar X close control with red hover feedback.
- Removed the redundant toolbar Close button and expanded the search field across the toolbar row.
- Preserved filtering logic, resizing, virtualization, manual Rescan behavior, and DSP input blocking.
Star System Explorer v.2.3.6
- Removed the Settings button and the separate Settings utility window.
- Moved Resource amounts into the VIEW section of the left sidebar beside Group by star system and Star systems only.
- Removed the separate DISPLAY sidebar section.
- Removed the user-facing Rows drawn per view and Window scale controls; virtualization keeps its proven internal draw limit and the Explorer remains freely resizable from its edges and corners.
- Removed the now-unused Settings input blocker/window state to keep the UI path simpler.
- Kept resource refresh manual through the v2.3.5 Rescan controls so live vein changes can be refreshed on demand without adding continuous polling or unnecessary FPS overhead.
Star System Explorer v.2.3.5
- Removed the redundant top toolbar Scan button; search now uses the freed toolbar space.
- Added permanent in-game Rescan controls beside Locate on planet rows.
- Added in-game system-level Rescan controls on grouped star-system headers and star-only rows.
- Live Rescan now recalculates loaded PlanetFactory vein groups and rereads PlanetData.runtimeVeinGroups, so resource amounts update after vein-placement mods change a planet.
- Replaced the guessed UISpaceGuide Locate path with DSP's native PlayerNavigation.indicatorAstroId marker path used by the original Planet Explorer.
- Preserved New Game/Galactic Scale preview scanning behavior and existing virtualization/input blocking.
Star System Explorer v.2.3.4
- Added a space after every resource label colon so resource names and amounts are easier to read (for example,
Iron: 4.37MandHydrogen: 0.25/s). - Formatting-only change; adaptive row heights, scanning behavior, column sizing, virtualization, and input handling are unchanged.
Star System Explorer v.2.3.3
- Reworked Resources rows to use adaptive multi-line heights instead of a two-line cap.
- Resource rows now grow only as much as needed, so planets with many injected veins can display every resource entry without overlapping neighboring rows.
- Preserved hard clipping inside each Resources cell so unusually long individual entries cannot draw outside their cell.
- Expanded the Resources column range to 320-680 px for more horizontal room before wrapping.
- Cached wrapped resource lines inside the virtualized table layout; wrapping is recalculated only when the visible layout or resource-column width changes, preserving the low-FPS design.
- Kept compact one-line rows for short resource summaries while allowing heavily modified planets to grow to as many lines as required.
Star System Explorer v.2.3.2
- Fixed scanned resource summaries drawing over neighboring table rows.
- Increased the fixed table row height to support two clean resource lines while preserving viewport virtualization.
- Widened the Resources column range so more resource data fits before a second line is needed.
- Added intelligent two-line splitting at resource separators so resource name/value pairs stay together whenever possible.
- Added hard clipping around each Resources cell so exceptionally long Galactic Scale resource lists can never spill into another row.
- Kept Scan/Scanned and Locate actions vertically centered in the taller rows.
- Preserved the validated v2.3.1 Galactic Scale preview source selection, 46/59-star regeneration handling, on-demand scans, and English resource normalization.
Star System Explorer v.2.3.1
- Fixed Galaxy Select source priority so the active New Game preview always wins over stale/live GameMain.data while Galaxy Select is open.
- Fixed Galactic Scale preview mismatch where Explorer could show a previous 64-star galaxy while the current Galactic Scale map showed a different star count.
- Normalized preview gas/ocean resource names to English, including Fire Ice, Hydrogen, Deuterium, Water, and Sulfuric Acid, instead of leaking DSP's localized item names into the English Explorer UI.
- Preserved the v2.3.0 on-demand preview scanning design, Galactic Scale soft dependency, input blockers, and live-game source behavior.
Star System Explorer v.2.3.0
- Added New Game / Galaxy Select preview support. Star System Explorer reads the galaxy already displayed by DSP instead of generating a second galaxy.
- Added Galactic Scale compatibility through the active Galaxy Select
galaxyData, withdsp.galactic-scale.2as a soft dependency only; Galactic Scale remains responsible for galaxy generation. - Added automatic preview-cache invalidation after
UIGalaxySelect.SetStarmapGalaxy, so seed and generation-setting changes can refresh the Explorer without a game restart. - Added explicit PREVIEW footer context showing the active provider, seed, and birth star when available.
- Replaced Locate with on-demand Scan controls while in preview. Star/system scans use DSP's native
RunScanningThread; planet scans useRunScanThread. - Preview resource data is never scanned galaxy-wide automatically. Unscanned planets display
Not scanned, preserving performance for large Galactic Scale galaxies. - Added preview scan completion polling so Scan -> Scanning -> Scanned updates resource rows without rebuilding the whole galaxy every frame.
- Added birth-star distance calculation for the Distance column and corrected numeric sorting for formatted Solar/Wind/Distance values.
- Improved preview planet data by resolving ocean item names and gas giant item names/rates through DSP's own data.
- Preserved the v2.2.7 main-window fixes, dynamic columns, row virtualization, movable input-safe utility windows, and in-game Locate behavior.
Star System Explorer v.2.2.7
- Renamed the main toolbar
Refreshaction toScan. - Fixed the Stars navigation view so it uses a dedicated cached star-row list instead of depending on the Star systems only cache mode.
- Fixed Resource amounts so turning it off shows resource names without quantities/rates, and turning it on shows the cached amounts again after a rescan.
- Kept sidebar and Settings values synchronized for Group by star system and Star systems only so opening Settings no longer reverts sidebar choices.
- Stopped the Filters window from rebuilding/sorting results every GUI pass; results now rebuild only when a filter actually changes or Reset is used.
- Search and filter changes now return the results view to the top instead of leaving the scroll position beyond a smaller result set.
- The footer now displays existing Locate/wait/error status messages alongside cache counts.
- Preserved movable always-on-top subwindows, exact click blocking, header sorting, grouping, dynamic columns, virtualization, resizing, and in-memory-only development settings.
Star System Explorer v.2.2.6
- Fixed Filters and Settings window Z-order so an open utility window always remains above the main Explorer window, even after clicking the main window.
- Preserved independent movement, fixed sizing, exact click-through protection, remembered session positions, and all v2.2.5 behavior.
Star System Explorer v.2.2.5
- Changed the permanent BepInEx plugin GUID to
com.lokimoonlabs.starsystemexplorerand the input-guard Harmony ID tocom.lokimoonlabs.starsystemexplorer.inputguard. - Converted Filters and Settings from fixed overlays inside the main window into independent fixed-size utility windows.
- Filters and Settings can now be moved by dragging their title areas and remember their positions for the current game session.
- Added separate transparent uGUI raycast blockers for the main window, Filters window, and Settings window so DSP input is blocked only beneath the actual Explorer windows.
- Preserved the v2.2.4 header sorting, grouping, search, filters, dynamic columns, virtualization, Locate behavior, resizing, and in-memory-only settings.
Star System Explorer v.2.2.4
- Removed the toolbar Sort button and the multi-condition sort panel.
- Simplified sorting to one active column at a time: click any table header to sort by that column; click the same header again to reverse direction.
- The active header shows a single
^orvdirection indicator with no priority numbers. - When Group by star system is enabled, star-system groups stay together; non-star columns sort rows within each group, while the Star system header sorts the groups themselves.
- Preserved dynamic column sizing, row virtualization, filtering, searching, grouping, Locate buttons, resizing, and DSP input blocking.
Star System Explorer v.2.2.3
- Added viewport-based row virtualization for the results table.
- The table now caches a flattened row/group layout and uses a binary search to jump directly to the visible scroll region instead of scanning every filtered row each frame.
- Added a small off-screen overscan buffer so scrolling remains visually seamless.
- Preserved existing grouping, collapse/expand behavior, row striping, dynamic columns, sorting, filtering, Locate buttons, resizing, and DSP input blocking.
- Settings-panel grouping toggles now invalidate the same cached table state as the sidebar toggles.
Star System Explorer v.2.2.2
- Added smart content-aware column sizing with minimum and maximum widths.
- Column widths recalculate when the visible data set or window width changes.
- Preserves the existing layout, grouping, sorting, search, filtering, resizing, and DSP input behavior.
Star System Explorer v.2.2.1
Loki Moon Labs
- Corrected the cached star-system grouping block syntax introduced in v2.2.0.
- Preserved the v2.2.0 performance-focused caching changes and all existing UI/interaction behavior.
- Bumped plugin, assembly, file, credits, and package versions to 2.2.1.
