Not Gonna Sugarcoat It
When you get knocked out in Gang Beasts, "I'M NOT GONNA SUGARCOAT IT." flashes across your screen and the lobotomy sound plays. Under the text, you see the beast who knocked you out, live.
- The avatar is a copy of their actual beast, so it has the same colours and the same costume, custom ones included. They face you.
- Got eaten by the shark? You get the shark.
- If you knocked yourself out, you see yourself.
- The effect lasts 2.5 seconds, flashes in, then fades out.
It only changes what you see on your own screen, so it works in online matches too. Nobody else needs the mod.
Keys
- F9: play the knockout screen now, showing the nearest beast (for testing)
- Shift+F9: same, but with the shark (on maps that have one)
Settings
Change these in UserData/MelonPreferences.cfg, under [NotGonnaSugarcoatIt]:
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Enabled | true | Turns the mod on or off |
| Volume | 1.0 | Sound volume (0 to 1) |
| DurationSeconds | 2.5 | How long the whole thing lasts |
| FadeOutSeconds | 1.0 | How much of that time is spent fading out |
| SoundSpeed | 1.8 | How fast the sound plays (1 = normal speed) |
| AttackerMemorySeconds | 6 | How recent a hit has to be to count as the one that knocked you out |
How it knows who did it
Online, the game doesn't tell your PC who knocked you out, so the mod watches for itself. A fist hitting you hard, someone holding onto you, or the shark's jaws on you all count. If nothing hit you recently, it shows you.
