Le Cruik
Puts a tall casino slot machine on your ship, complete with red edge lights, a button deck, a glowing lower panel and a progressive jackpot, so you can gamble the crew's credits.
Meet Pip
Pip is a magpie thief in a Company jumpsuit who lives at the bottom of the screen. He chatters while you wait, fidgets while the board spins, cheers on wins, and gets singed when the dynamite goes off. He's behind the grid, in a grimy cargo bay of his own.
How it plays
- Look at the machine and press E to hit spin. Press B to change your bet: 10, 25, 50 or 100 credits.
- The screen is a 6×5 grid. 5 or more matching symbols touching (up, down, left or right) pay out, and bigger clusters pay much more.
- Wins cascade: winning symbols burst, everything above falls down, and new symbols drop in. One spin can chain several wins.
- Gold coins (×2, ×3, ×5, ×10) multiply the spin's total win.
- 5+ touching dynamite pays nothing and blows up in the face of whoever spun.
- Progressive jackpot: every spin adds 5% of the bet to the pot. Land 7 or more gold keys anywhere on the board to win the whole pot. That happens about once every 900 spins. The host's game saves the pot, so it keeps growing between sessions.
- The bet comes out of the crew's shared credits, and everyone sees the board.
- The host rolls every spin, so nobody can rig it.
Symbols (lowest to highest)
Rope, Jar Crate, Bottle Crate, Lantern, Revolver, Gold Key.
Odds
Including the jackpot, it pays back a bit over 90% on average, so the house wins slowly. About 3 in 10 spins win something, and a 20× or bigger win comes around once every 200 spins.
Moving the machine
It places itself against a wall of the ship. The host can stand anywhere in the ship and press F8 to move it in front of them. That spot is saved.
