Furniture Sizes
Resize any furniture piece, one by one: from the config, LethalConfig, or by looking at it and pressing keys. Resized furniture is previewed at its real size and rests on the floor in build mode. Needs InputUtils for the keys. Host-only sizes.

Furniture Sizes
Change the size of any furniture piece, one piece at a time. Every movable piece the game knows about gets its own entry (vanilla furniture, movable ship parts such as the teleporter, and furniture added by other mods), filled in for you the way FurnitureLock lists furniture for positions.
New in 1.2.0: resize by looking at a piece and pressing keys, and big furniture now sits on the floor properly in build mode instead of sinking into it. 1.2.2 makes the build-mode preview show the real size every time, and puts resized pieces on the floor exactly.
How to use
- Install the mod, start the game and host a lobby once. The entries are created when the ship loads.
- Change a size, any of three ways:
-
Keys (in the ship): look at a piece, or pick it up in build mode, and press:
Key Does Insert/DeleteX bigger / smaller Home/EndY bigger / smaller (height) Page Up/Page DownZ bigger / smaller \(backslash)back to normal size One press changes the size by 0.1 (change it with
Step), holding the key keeps going. The piece's name and size are shown on screen. The keys can be changed in the game's controls menu (InputUtils). The result is saved in that piece's config entry, so it is kept. The keys do nothing while the pause menu is open or while you type on the terminal or in chat. -
LethalConfig (in-game menu): open the mod list, pick Furniture Sizes, and every piece has its own text field. Type a size and apply it. Pieces already in the ship change right away.
-
Config file: open
BepInEx/config/FurnitureSizes.Config.cfg(in r2modman: Config editor), look in[Furniture Sizes]and write for exampleTelevision = 2. Host again to use it.
-
- The sizes are used every time the ship loads.
Placing resized furniture
The game's build mode does not know about sizes. It puts the see-through preview at a fixed height above the floor (or a fixed distance from a wall) that was worked out for the normal size, it never updates the preview while you change the size, and it checks for obstacles with a box of the normal size. A bigger piece therefore sank into the floor, a smaller one floated, and the preview did not always show the piece at its real size. While you place a resized piece, this mod:
- draws the preview (and the outline around the piece you are moving) at the piece's real size, also when the piece was resized before you picked it up, and follows it while you change the size with the keys,
- draws it where the piece will really end up when you press confirm, and moves it so the piece rests on the floor (or touches the wall) exactly where the normal-size piece would,
- turns the spot red when the piece would not fit at its real size (too close to a wall, under a low beam...).
Pieces that were not resized are not touched at all.
The nicest way to resize something: press B for build mode, pick the piece up, change its size with the keys while
you hold it (the preview follows at once), then put it down.
Pieces that were already placed when you resized them grow around their centre point, so they can sink or float a little until you pick them up and place them again. After that the position is kept in your save.
Values
| You write | You get |
|---|---|
1 |
normal size (the default) |
2 |
twice as big in every direction |
0.5 |
half the size |
1, 2, 1 |
x, y, z separately: here twice as tall |
Use a dot for decimals (1.5). Each number can be from 0.05 to 25. An invalid value is ignored (the piece stays at its
normal size) and a warning is written to the log.
Other settings
| Section / setting | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
General / Enabled |
true |
Set to false to put everything back to normal without uninstalling. |
General / GlobalMultiplier |
1 |
Extra multiplier on top of every piece's own size. Leave it at 1 to size pieces one by one. |
Placement / FixPlacement |
true |
The build-mode fix described above. Turn it off to get the game's own behaviour back. |
Placement / FloorOffsetStrength |
1 |
How strongly a resized piece is moved up (or away from a wall) to rest on the surface. Raise it if big pieces still sink, lower it if they float. |
Keybinds / Enabled |
true |
Turn the resize keys off. |
Keybinds / Step |
0.1 |
How much one key press changes the size. |
Keybinds / HoldToRepeat |
true |
Keep resizing while the key is held. |
Keybinds / Range |
8 |
How far away (metres) a piece can be to resize it by looking at it. |
Keybinds / ShowReadout |
true |
Show the piece's name and size on screen after a key press. |
What is covered
- Furniture you buy (television, sofa chair, toilet, ...), also furniture you buy later in the same session.
- Furniture that is part of the ship from the start (cupboard, file cabinet, bunk beds, light switch).
- Movable ship parts (teleporters, ...) and furniture from other mods that registers like normal furniture.
- Not covered: suits and ship parts that cannot be moved.
Multiplayer
The size is set on the furniture before the game spawns it, and the object's scale is sent to the other players with it, so the host decides the sizes. If a player does not see the sizes, have them install the mod too, with the same config.
The build-mode fix works on the PC of the player who is placing the piece, so everyone who moves furniture should have the mod (with the same config); without it their preview is the game's own and big pieces sink for them.
A change made while the ship is running (keys or LethalConfig) shows on your own PC right away, but other players only get it the next time the furniture is spawned (a new lobby).
Notes
- Sizes are not stored in your save. The config is applied every time the ship loads, so
1always means vanilla. The position of a piece you placed is stored by the game, as usual. - Pieces grow and shrink around their pivot point. In build mode the fix above compensates for it.
- On some pieces the model is turned inside the game's own files, so "height" is not always Y. On the cupboard, for example, the height is Z. Look at the piece and press the keys to see which one does what.
- A very large piece may not fit where you want to put it. If you get stuck, set it back to
1(or press\while looking at it). - Pocket Rooms: pieces that contain a room are marked in the config. Leave those at
1. The terminal is marked too. - Other mods that resize furniture (RandomSizePlayer's furniture option, ScaleableTelevision) work on the same objects, so do not set the same piece in both. Pieces sized by another mod are left alone, also by the keys.
- Grid-snapping mods such as FurnitureGrid should work alongside this one: the size fix runs after theirs, and it repeats the obstacle check at the real size (theirs only knows the normal size).
- The resize keys need LethalCompany InputUtils. Mod managers install it automatically.
- About
HideManagerGameObject: some mods (ScaleableTelevision, for example) needHideManagerGameObject = trueinBepInEx/config/BepInEx.cfg, because otherwise the game destroys BepInEx's manager object and every mod that relies on it stops working. This mod does not need that setting, and it also protects the manager object itself, which may help those other mods too.
Troubleshooting
In BepInEx/LogOutput.log look for these lines:
[Info :Furniture Sizes] Furniture Sizes 1.2.2 loaded. ...
[Info :Furniture Sizes] Resize keys ready: Insert/Delete = X, Home/End = Y, PageUp/PageDown = Z, \ = reset ...
[Info :Furniture Sizes] Sizes applied (after Terminal.Awake): 31 pieces listed, 0 with a custom size, 0 found in the ship.
[Info :Furniture Sizes] Television: the piece in the ship is now 2, 2, 2 times its normal size.
[Info :Furniture Sizes] Television: build-mode preview now follows the size (2, 2, 2), moved 0.5 m up/down and 0 m sideways to rest on the surface.
[Info :Furniture Sizes] Television: placed. The piece rests where the preview showed it (difference 0 m).
- A line saying
could not start and is switched offmeans something failed at start-up. Send the log. - The "listed" number should be around 30. If a piece is missing from the config, it is not something the game lets you move.
- No "Resize keys ready" line: InputUtils is not installed, or the keys are off. Sizes can still be set in the config.
- No "build-mode preview now follows the size" line when you place a resized piece: the fix did not run. Look for a
warning about
GhostPatchorShipBuildModeManagerjust above it. - A "placed" line that says the base of the piece is below or above where the preview showed it means the piece did not end up where the preview showed it. Send that line with the log: it shows exactly how far off it is.
- If something goes wrong, send the log together with the names and versions of your furniture and ship mods.
