What Monitor Takeover does
Monitor Takeover adds a new quota progression to Lethal Company. The Takeover portion of this mod is really just intended for modpack creators to have fun with, you can either utilize youtube videos, or include video files to play on the in-ship monitors following a successful quota completion. Each quota is accompanied by dialogue that is set in the config, and you can choose to: use the default uploaded audio (Charlie Brown mumbles + Siren at start of takeover), the audio that accompanies the video you choose, or a separately uploaded audio file. Following the takeover, the ships monitors will display whatever that quota's rewards are. Right now rewards can unlock contracts, ship upgrades, constellations, moons, suits, and store items, or grant credits, ship fuel, and Y4NGZUpgrades tokens. Progression and rewards run on the host and persist with the save. Unconfigured this mod has nothing set for quota rewards and will just display the default Y4NGZ monitor takeover. I wouldn't recommend installing this if you are not going to customize it to your liking.
The Takeover
When the ship reaches orbit after a fulfilled quota, the lights dim, the HUD hides, and
every ship monitor switches to the takeover feed for a configurable number of seconds.
The feed shows that quota's typed dialogue over the built-in Y4NGZ video, or over media
you supply. Quotas 1 through 9 each have their own Quota N section in
BepInEx/config/com.y4ngz.company.monitortakeover.cfg with their own dialogue, media,
and rewards.

Media
Drop a PNG, JPG, or MP4 into BepInEx/config/Y4NGZCompany/MonitorTakeovers and name it in
a quota's section, or paste a full YouTube link instead. One file or link can cover every
quota, or a pool of files and links can be spread across the monitors so each screen plays
something different. Local files need an identical copy on every player's machine, and a
player without one sees the built-in video. YouTube links are downloaded and cached by each
player in the background, so the first takeover after adding one may still show the
built-in video.
For audio you can keep the built-in mix, let the video's own audio track play, or supply your own sound files or a soundtrack link. When the takeover ends, the large ship monitors list everything that quota unlocked and granted.

Compatibility
With GeneralImprovements Better Monitors installed, the takeover and per-monitor media cover the Better Monitors wall as well.

CHANGELOG
Monitor Takeover changelog
1.0.1 - 2026-09-06
Added
-
Each quota can now lock moons (#862).
UnlockMoonsin everyQuota Nsection takes comma-separated moon names as the terminal shows them (Titan, Artifice; the8-style prefix is optional). Until that quota is reached the vanilla terminal answers arouteto that moon with a locked message naming the quota, the host refuses the route change from any client or mod, and the Y4NGZ custom terminal leaves the moon out of the list. The rewards screen lists a newly opened moon asMOON. Moons not named anywhere are untouched. Players on an older build are still refused by the host; they just do not see the message. -
The Thunderstore package is now
Y4NGZ313-MonitorTakeoverwith the display name Monitor Takeover, and the readme was rewritten to the shared Y4NGZ layout. The assembly, plugin GUID, config file andMonitorTakeoversfolder are unchanged; only the package name, icon and BepInEx display name differ. Install it in place of theY4NGZMonitorTakeovercandidate. -
Quota takeovers can show a different video on each ship monitor. Two new keys in
Media:MediaPerMonitor- a semicolon-separated list of filenames fromBepInEx/config/Y4NGZCompany/MonitorTakeoversand/or full YouTube links, semicolons because a link may contain a comma; blank by default, and a non-empty list is what turns the feature on - andMaxVideosAtOnce(1-6, default 3), which caps how many videos decode at once and is what protects performance. With the list blank the takeover is unchanged: one video on every screen, exactly as before. The host picks one random layout per takeover and every player derives the same one from it, so the same monitor shows the same slot for everyone, with and without GeneralImprovements Better Monitors. The bottom-left map screen always stays on the main video. A player missing a pool file, or one whose YouTube link has not finished caching, drops that entry with a single log line and shows the rest - the layout still matches, the content on that one screen does not. A video that never decodes falls back to mirroring the main one rather than opening a second decoder. A player on an older build sees the ordinary single-video takeover: the plan rides an additive named message, so the protocol revision stays 1. The GeneralImprovements wall needs Y4NGZCore 1.0.6 or newer for per-screen video; on an older Core it shows the main video everywhere with one warning line. -
Quota takeovers can play a soundtrack of your own, from a local MP3/WAV/OGG in
BepInEx/config/Y4NGZCompany/MonitorTakeoversor from a full YouTube link. Three new keys inAudio:SoundtrackMode(Offby default,ReplaceorMix),Soundtrack, andSoundtrackVolume(0-1, default 0.8, independent ofVoiceVolume).Replacesilences the power-down whine, the alarm, the drone bed and the mumble voices for the whole takeover;Mixlayers the track over them. WithSoundtrackMode = Off- the default - the takeover audio is unchanged. A soundtrack mutes the configured video's own track even whenPlayVideoSoundis on, and setting the soundtrack to the same YouTube link as the media reuses that one video's audio instead of downloading or decoding it twice. Files sync by the host's filename plus SHA-256 exactly likeAlarmFile; links are cached per player. Any failure - a missing file, a hash mismatch, a link that is not cached yet, or a playback error - falls back to the built-in audio with a single log line. A peer on an older build hears the built-in audio: the plan rides an additive named message rather than changing the takeover payload, so the protocol revision stays 1.
Changed
- The media and audio settings have names that say what they do (#861).
Mumble VolumeandMumbleAudioFilesare nowVoiceVolumeandVoiceFiles(the mumbled voice lines under the dialogue),AlarmAudioFileisAlarmFile(the siren at the start),SoundtrackSourceisSoundtrack,DefaultMediaFileisMediaForAllQuotas, each quota'sMediaFileisMedia,LoopMediaisLoopVideo,EnableMediaAudioisPlayVideoSound(and its description now says it plays your video's sound on top of the built-in audio, not instead of it),UseMediaLengthAsDurationisHoldForWholeVideo, andMaxConcurrentMediaPlayersisMaxVideosAtOnce. The per-monitor on/off switch is gone:PerMonitorMediaPoolis nowMediaPerMonitor, and filling it in is what turns per-monitor media on. Every description was rewritten to say what the setting layers over or replaces. An existing config migrates once on startup with every customized value carried to its new name; a config that had a pool listed but the old switch off keeps one shared video and gets one log line saying so. The previous file is kept beside it as.pre-schema-v2-<timestamp>.bak. - The config file reads as plainly named sections instead of the numbered leftovers from the pre-split shared file:
General,Media,Audio,Presentation,Rewards Ceremony,Quota 1throughQuota 9, andDiagnostics. No setting was added, removed, or renamed - only the sections moved. An existing config is migrated once on startup with every customized value carried across, the old numbered sections removed, and the previous file kept beside it ascom.y4ngz.company.monitortakeover.cfg.pre-schema-v1-<timestamp>.bak; the second and third startups leave the file byte-for-byte unchanged.
Removed
- The Mask Man takeover is gone (#860). It was a fixed one-shot that replaced quota three's broadcast the first time a save reached it, so on a fresh save quota three never showed the configured takeover. Quota three now plays the ordinary configurable takeover like every other quota. The
Mask Man Tail Buffersetting is removed fromPresentationand dropped during config migration; theY4NGZ_MaskManFiredflag in existing saves is ignored. - The unfinished quota ending is gone: the ending sequence, its forced-route lock and its
73 - Monitor Takeover - Endingconfig section no longer exist. It was already unreachable because the moon it needed was de-shipped, so nothing changes on a normal install. Quota takeovers are unaffected. An old config file that still carries[Ending](or[73 - Monitor Takeover - Ending]) keys still imports cleanly; those keys are ignored.
1.0.0 - 2026-08-31
Initial standalone release.
Fixed
- The takeover video actually plays instead of falling back to static.
- Takeover mumbles and Mask Man audio are audible again, and the final broadcast and Mask Man congratulations show video instead of a black screen.
- The takeover starts on time instead of stalling for several seconds before the dialogue.
- Quota reward announcements cover all three large lower monitors with GeneralImprovements Better Monitors.
- Monitors show animated static instead of an empty black wall if the takeover video cannot start.
