This mod requires the following mods to function
BepInEx-BepInExPack
BepInEx pack for Mono Unity games. Preconfigured and ready to use.
Preferred version: 5.4.2305README
Ship Loot Guard
Protects loose items placed inside the Lethal Company ship from ending up below its floor. Includes scrap and equipment.
Installation
Install BepInExPack in your Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman profile. With the game closed, use the manager's Import local mod option and select ShipLootGuard-1.0.0.zip. If that option is unavailable, open the profile folder from Settings, extract this ZIP elsewhere, and copy BepInEx/plugins/ShipLootGuard/ShipLootGuard.dll into the profile's matching plugins folder. Launch the game using the manager's Modded button.
The host and every friend should install the same version and use the same configuration. This mod adjusts each client's local vanilla falling positions; it does not send custom network messages. Host-only operation is not supported.
Behavior
- Corrects invalid floor targets after dropping or placing an item inside the ship.
- Keeps these items within the interior boundaries, including drops near the doorway.
- Checks ship-parented items every 0.25 seconds and lifts them back inside if they have slipped below the floor.
- Can recover already-stuck items that the game still marks as in the ship and parents to the ship.
- You can pick up items and carry them outside to sell them normally. Items dropped outside are unrestricted.
- Shelf positions above the floor are preserved when within the interior boundaries.
The mod reads the ship's existing floor colliders. If it cannot identify a floor at an item's position, it leaves that item alone. Deleted items and items the game no longer associates with the ship cannot be recovered. Normal death-related scrap loss remains part of the game.
Configuration
After the first modded launch, edit BepInEx/config/local.shiplootguard.cfg while the game is closed:
Enabled = true: enables protection.FloorClearance = 0.03: adds 3 cm above the normal item resting height. Allowed range: 0.01 to 0.2 metres.
Validation status
Built successfully against the game assemblies installed on this computer, with Unity 2022.3.62 and BepInEx 5.4.23.5. The three patched method signatures were checked against those files. No live game or multiplayer playtest has been performed. Treat version 1.0.0 as an initial test release.
Custom ship interiors, physics-item mods, or other mods changing item placement need separate compatibility testing. Everyone should start with the same profile and config.
Quick multiplayer check
- Host a test save and have one friend join with the same mod installed.
- Both players drop scrap on the floor, near walls, and near the interior doorway. Confirm both see reachable items.
- Place an item on the cupboard shelf and confirm it remains on the shelf.
- Take off and land several times, then save, quit, and reload. Confirm the items remain reachable and keep their scrap values.
- Carry an item out of the ship, drop it outside, and sell it at the Company. Confirm it is not pulled back.
