README

Guz

A new playable character for Megabonk. Guz has the passive of every other character at the same time.

  • All 21 passives at once: Zap, Plague, Lock In, Flowstate, Float, Bullseye, Speed Demon, Curse, Crit Happens, Gamba, RNG Blessing, Reinforced, Flex, Monke Grip, Shadowstep, Enduring, Warrior, Hoarder, Stonks, Quantum XP Theory and Vampire.
  • Ready to play: he sits in the first slot of the character select screen, free and unlocked.
  • His own look: custom model and portrait. Animations, sounds, base stats and starting weapon come from Megachad (all of that can be changed in the settings).

Safe to try, safe to remove

  • Runs played as Guz are never uploaded to the leaderboards.
  • Nothing about Guz is stored in the game's save files, so the mod can be removed at any time. His own rank and selection are kept in a small file next to the mod's settings.
  • Kills, quests and achievements earned while playing Guz do count toward your normal progress.

Install

Use a mod manager (Thunderstore Mod Manager, r2modman or Gale) and install this package; BepInEx comes with it.

Manual install: set up BepInExPack_IL2CPP for Megabonk, then copy the contents of this package into BepInEx\plugins\Guz\.

Settings

Start the game once, then edit BepInEx\config\mkaluzny.megabonk.guz.cfg (or use the mod manager's config editor). Changes apply the next time the game starts.

Section Key Default Meaning

Character Description Text in the character select screen
Character BaseCharacter Megachad Whose animations, sounds, base stats and weapon Guz borrows
Character StartingWeapon (empty) Empty = the base character's weapon
Passives Name All of the Above Name of the passive
Passives ListNamesInDescription false List every passive in the description
Passives Exclude (empty) Passives to leave out, e.g. Curse, WallClimb
Passives MoveSpeedBonus 30 Percent of the passives' movement speed bonus Guz gets (Speed Demon builds up to +150%)
Passives Glide false Float: hold jump in the air to glide down. The airborne damage bonus stays either way
Passives Hover false Hoarder: hold jump to keep being lifted while moving upwards. The chest drops stay either way
Appearance Portrait portrait.png Portrait image; empty = the base character's
Appearance Model / ModelTexture guz.json / guz.png Guz's mesh and texture; empty = the base character's
Appearance Tint / TintColor false / #FFD24A Tint the in-game model

With every movement passive at full strength Guz gets launched off steep slopes, which is why the speed bonus is turned down and glide and hover are off by default. Set MoveSpeedBonus = 100, Glide = true and Hover = true for the unfiltered experience.

Good to know

  • Made for Megabonk 1.0.69. A game update can break the mod; the worst case is that Guz is missing from the character select screen until the mod is updated.
  • Curse raises the difficulty every level. Put it in Exclude if that is more than you asked for.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

1.2.0

  • Setup menu: with Guz selected in the character select screen, a GUZ SETUP button opens a panel where every passive can be switched on or off and his starting weapon picked. Changes count from the next run, no restart needed. Enabled = false under [Menu] hides it.
  • New skin: Super Saiyan. Guz with yellow hair, free, next to his default skin in the character select screen.
  • Three more skins, free as well: Blue (the whole character under a blue hue), Brown (brown skin) and Elite Chair Covers (a black T-shirt with ELITE CHAIR COVERS across the chest).

1.1.1

  • Guz no longer gets Monke Grip (wall climbing). It made him climb every steep slope he ran into and threw him into the air at the top. The new setting WallClimb brings it back.

1.1.0

  • Finished model: reworked head, hair and texture.
  • Hats sit properly: a second mesh without the volume of his hair is shown while Guz wears a hat (new setting ModelUnderHat).

1.0.0

  • First release.
