Shop upgrades
New upgrades keep their levels in this mod's own file, never in your game save.
| Upgrade | Levels | Price | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| More Pots | 5 | 100 / 200 / 300 / 400 / 500 | Doubles pot spawns per level (2x up to 32x) |
| Silver Pots | 1 | 50 | Every pot spawns as the game's silver pot (its own model and drop) |
| Auto Pots | 6 | 200 each | Pots in range break by themselves, and their silver flies to you. Range 4 at level 1, doubling each level (up to 128) |
| Faster Shrines | 10 | 200 each | Charge shrines fill faster: each level removes 10% of the charge time, and level 10 is instant |
| Auto Shrine Rewards | 1 | 300 | Charge shrine rewards are picked for you instantly: the highest rarity, or random |
| Slow Timer | 3 | 50 each | The stage timer runs 2x / 4x / 8x slower. Gameplay speed is unchanged |
| More Choices | 4 | 200 each | +1 option per level on level-up. The list scrolls |
| Auto Fire | 1 | 200 | Hold the fire button to keep firing while stamina lasts |
| Stamina | 10 | 50 (levels 1-4), 100 (5-8), 150 (9-10) | +2 max stamina per level (base 5) |
| Efficiency | 10 | 50 (levels 1-4), 100 (5-8), 150 (9-10) | Each weapon costs less stamina to fire: -0.1 per level for levels 1-5, then -0.05 per level (from 1 down to 0.25) |
| Fire Rate | 6 | 50 (levels 1-4), 100 (5-6) | One more fire action per 0.5 s per level (up to 7) |
| Recharge | 10 | 50 (levels 1-4), 100 (5-8), 150 (9-10) | Stamina refills 0.5 per second faster per level (base 1) |
- Refunds undo one level at a time and return what that level costs now.
- Each upgrade's shop description lists every level's effect, with your current level highlighted.
Changes to the game's own upgrades
| Upgrade | Change |
|---|---|
| Tome slots | +4 more tome slots (6 total), 135 silver each |
| Weapon slots | +4 more weapon slots (6 total), 125 silver each |
| Silver | Retuned: +10% silver per level (instead of +2.5%), and level N costs 50 x N (instead of rising steeply to 442) |
Manual fire
On by default: weapons no longer attack on their own. They fire when you press the fire button (left mouse, or R1 / RB on a controller). To get the game's normal auto attacks back, set Enabled = false under [ManualFire] in the config.
- Stamina.
- Each fire action costs stamina for every weapon it fires.
- Stamina refills while you're not firing.
- The stamina bar shows under the character.
- The Fire Rate upgrade limits how often you can fire (one action per 0.5 s, more with upgrades).
- Auto Fire. Without the Auto Fire upgrade, each press fires once. With it, holding the button keeps firing.
- Passive weapons (Aura, Dragon's Breath, Frostwalker, Space Noodle).
- They stay on but deal 10% damage, and show gray, until triggered.
- Each trigger gives them a full-damage window and their normal colour.
- Holding with Auto Fire keeps them at full damage.
- Aegis and Chunkers are unaffected and work as usual.
- Weapon swap.
- D-pad left / right cycles through your weapons, then All.
- On the keyboard, the number keys pick directly: 1 to N for each weapon, N+1 for All.
- A popup in the bottom left shows the choice, with the neighbouring options at its sides.
- Fire feedback.
- Other weapons play the jump sound and a dust cloud, and the character briefly grows, on each fire action. While holding, these repeat at the fire rate.
- Passive weapons play the stage portal sound and a dust cloud when triggered. A charging sound loops while you hold.
- Controller jump. On a controller only A jumps, so R1 can fire without jumping. L2 stays as aim, and keyboard Space still jumps.
- Manual fire and weapon swap only work during a run.
Quality of life
- Linear keys. Each key adds a flat 10% free-chest chance, so 5 keys give 50% and 10 keys give 100%.
- Toggle everything. Every unlocked weapon, tome and item can be toggled off with the Toggler.
- Chest skip. Press jump (Space, or the A button) to skip the chest opening animation.
- Stage timer rewind / skip. Use
[/]in a run, or the Rewind 30s / Skip 30s buttons added to the pause menu. - Menus from the start. The Shop, Unlocks, Quests, Quick Quests and Leaderboards are available from your first run. Normally they unlock after 1 to 6 runs.
- Reset Progress. A main menu button asks for confirmation in the game's own yes/no box.
- It wipes your progress and this mod's upgrade levels. Your settings are kept.
- The save and this mod's files are backed up first to
BepInEx/backups/<date-time>/. - Restart the game after a reset.
Behind the scenes
- Pot performance. Pots don't cast shadows and use GPU instancing, which keeps the high pot counts from More Pots cheap.
- Performance monitor. Off by default. It logs FPS, the worst frame and the enemy count during a run.
- Fold check. At startup, it warns in the log if a patched game method shares its native code with an unrelated one. This is a safety check against a class of IL2CPP bugs.
Installation
Option A: r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager (easiest)
- Install the mod from the mod manager, or use Settings > Import local mod with this zip.
- The manager installs the required BepInExPack_IL2CPP 6.0.755.
- Start the game with Start modded.
Option B: manual install
- Install BepInEx 6 IL2CPP (be.755, Windows x64) into the game folder, usually
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Megabonk.BepInEx\,winhttp.dllanddoorstop_config.inishould sit next toMegabonk.exe. - Run the game once, then close it. The first launch is slow while BepInEx generates its files. When it finishes, you have
BepInEx\plugins\andBepInEx\interop\. - Create
BepInEx\plugins\MoreShopUpgrades\and copyMorePots.dllandMoreSlots.dllinto it. - Start the game normally from Steam.
Check that it worked
BepInEx\LogOutput.logcontainsLoading [MorePots ...],Loading [MoreSlots ...]and a line likeMorePots ... loaded.- The shop lists the new upgrades (More Pots, Silver Pots, Auto Fire, Stamina, ...).
Configuration
These files are created in BepInEx\config\ on first launch:
| File | Contents |
|---|---|
com.megabonkmods.morepots.cfg |
Prices, levels, manual fire buttons, stamina numbers, effects and sounds, keys, and an on/off switch for each feature |
com.megabonkmods.moreslots.cfg |
Extra tome and weapon slots and their prices |
com.megabonkmods.morepots.progress.cfg |
Your new-upgrade levels. Managed by the mod; don't edit it by hand |
Close the game before editing, then relaunch.
- Turn off manual fire: set
Enabled = falseunder[ManualFire]. - Controller buttons: the defaults are R1 to fire and D-pad left / right to swap weapons.
- If your controller names its buttons differently, set
LogControllerButtons = trueunder[ManualFire]. The log then names each button as you press it. - Put those names in
PadButtonNames(under[ManualFire]) and inNextButtons/PreviousButtons(under[WeaponSwap]).
- If your controller names its buttons differently, set
- Effects and sounds:
WeaponFx,WeaponGrowScaleandPassiveDustSizechange the weapon effects.PassiveHoldChargeandPassiveHoldClipNamechange the passive hold sound.PassiveIdleTintandPassiveIdleColorchange the passive gray tint.
Updating and uninstalling
Updating: replace the two DLLs in BepInEx\plugins\MoreShopUpgrades\, or update in the mod manager. Your configs and upgrade levels are kept.
Uninstalling:
- Refund the extra tome and weapon slot levels in the shop first. Those are stored in the game's own save. The other upgrades live only in this mod's file and leave nothing in your save.
- Delete
BepInEx\plugins\MoreShopUpgrades\, or remove the mod in the mod manager. - To remove BepInEx completely, also delete
BepInEx\,winhttp.dll,doorstop_config.inianddotnet\from the game folder.
Troubleshooting
- Nothing changed in game.
- Check that
BepInEx\LogOutput.logexists and is recent. - If it doesn't, BepInEx isn't loading. Make sure
winhttp.dllis next toMegabonk.exe.
- Check that
- Errors after a game update. The mod is built for game version 1.0.69 and may need an update for newer versions.
- Undo a Reset Progress. Backups are in
BepInEx\backups\<date-time>\, with aRESTORE.txtexplaining the steps.
