README

OverheadIDs — Player Overhead ID Display

Draw IDs above players' heads during MIMESIS matches, with obfuscation for “mimics”:

  • Real players: display their own nickname
  • Mimics: display an ID chosen from the real players in the match, weighted by distance (closer players are more likely to be copied); optionally change periodically, so its ID switches to another player's mid-match;

Configuration

MIMESIS\UserData\MelonPreferences.cfg, section [OverheadIds]:

[OverheadIds]
Enabled = true
Verbose = false
Mode = "Always"
ShowUntilHour = 11
RandomizeDummyId = true
RandomizeMimicId = true
ChangeMimicId = true
MimicIdChangeSeconds = 120
FontSize = 22
HeadOffset = 2.0
MaxDistance = 45
Color = "#FFFFFF"
OcclusionCheck = true
Key Description
Mode Always = always show; TimeWindow = show only when the in-match time is earlier than ShowUntilHour; OutdoorOnly = hide when the local player is indoors; Never = never show. (Displayed by default in Repair Station / Tram area selection / Deathmatch)
ShowUntilHour Threshold for TimeWindow (hours); show IDs before ShowUntilHour, e.g. before 11:00
RandomizeDummyId Whether dummies use a random real-player ID
RandomizeMimicId Whether mimics use a random real-player ID
ChangeMimicId Whether a mimic's random ID changes periodically
MimicIdChangeSeconds Change interval (seconds), default 120
FontSize / Color Text size / color (#RRGGBB)
HeadOffset Height of the label relative to the character's feet (meters), default 2.0
MaxDistance Do not display beyond this distance (meters)
OcclusionCheck true = hide when the line of sight from the camera to the top of the head is blocked by a wall (only hits Default / InvisibleWall layers; not blocked by the character itself)

Set Mode to TimeWindow and ShowUntilHour = 11: after entering a new area (9:00), IDs are visible, and they disappear after 11:00.
