MiSide Multiplayer Mod
The MiSide Multiplayer Mod is a pioneering modification that introduces full multiplayer support to MiSide. This update transitions the mod into its Beta phase, introducing a completely revamped connectivity framework, dynamic matchmaking lobbies, separated game modes, and comprehensive synchronization across players, Mita, world states, and quest triggers.
Multiplayer sessions support up to 4 players per lobby across Public, Private, and Direct Connect options.
Installation Instructions
Host Instructions:
- Locate and execute MiSideDirectConnectRelay.exe to start the host server if using Direct Connect (creating your own server is no longer mandatory, as Public and Private matchmaking lobbies are now available in-game).
- Open Command Prompt and type in IPCONFIG. You should see your network IPv4 pop up, That is what you share with your friends. (Security Notice: Utilize a secure port forwarding service or a Virtual LAN software such as Hamachi, Radmin VPN, or ZeroTier instead of sharing your raw public IPv4).
VERY IMPORTANT!!: Allow both MiSide AND The Server through your firewall! Otherwise it would NOT work!
Main Features
-
Flexible Connectivity & Matchmaking: Dedicated server hosting is no longer mandatory. Players can seamlessly host or join Public, Private, or Direct Connect (for custom/dedicated server setups) lobbies.
-
Separated Game Modes: Singleplayer and Multiplayer are now completely independent modes, preventing state and save file contamination.
-
Player Model & Animation Sync: Full support for player animations and custom models via the MiSide Custom Model Loader, featuring in-game player name tags and player proximity mesh fading to prevent close-range camera clipping.
-
Upgraded Mita Synchronization: Mita's gaze, pathfinding, and behavioral states dynamically target the nearest player across all connected clients. Secondary variants (Cappie, Mila, and multiple scene statues) are independently scoped, and Mita's skirt physics are fully synchronized.
-
World & Object State Sync: Reworked state tracking with cached object indexing, scene preservation during transitions, and synchronized interactive objects (doors, mechanical interactables, story objects).
-
Resolved Quest & Text Glitches: Quest triggers remain synchronized through full room transitions, and dialogue render duplicates have been eliminated.
-
Expanded UI & Quality of Life: Includes a dedicated Multiplayer menu accessible from Settings, a custom music menu, an official multiplayer logo, native Speedrun mod compatibility, and an active pause menu that keeps gameplay running in the background.
Current Limitations
-
Mita Latency: Because Mita's position and actions are broadcast from the host client, her remote representation runs slightly behind on client screens depending on network ping. On LAN this delay is imperceptible, while higher-ping connections may show a brief positional delay.
-
Environmental & Physics Sync: Certain full-world state changes, environmental triggers, and physics-driven props may still experience state drift in edge cases.
-
General Alpha Instability: As an experimental pre-release build, uncatalogued bugs, memory leaks, or spontaneous disconnections may still occur during extended play.
Requirements
- A clean, unmodified installation of MiSide.
- BepInEx 6 (IL2CPP) installed in your game directory.
Strongly Recommended: Back up your local save data before connecting to a host, due to the experimental nature of the new synchronization modules.
