ForgeSmartToggle
Adds a third Hybrid state to the in-battle forge toggle: forges as normal, but spends no Forge Points on cheap swarm units. Skips Morsels, Imps, Whelps and Stewards by default, and the list is configurable.

ForgeSmartToggle
A Monster Train 2 mod that adds a third Hybrid state to the in-battle forge toggle, so cheap swarm units stop eating your Forge Points.
Hybrid behaves like Normal, except that playing a unit whose subtype is on the skip list spends no Forge Points. It tints the toggle orange, pins an orange H badge to its corner, and adds a "(Hybrid)" suffix and the skipped subtypes to the tooltip.
The toggle cycles through three states in whichever order you configure. The order decides what a single press does: with Normal → Hybrid → Disabled, one press from Disabled turns forging on as Normal; with Normal → Disabled → Hybrid, one press from Normal turns forging off and the next enters Hybrid.
Configuration
BepInEx/config/ForgeSmartToggle.cfg
| Key | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
Hybrid.Enabled |
true |
Whether Hybrid exists at all. Off leaves the toggle plain On/Off. |
Hybrid.ToggleOrder |
NormalDisabledHybrid |
NormalHybridDisabled or NormalDisabledHybrid. |
Hybrid.SkippedSubtypes |
Morsel, Imp, Whelp, Steward |
Subtypes that cost no Forge Points in Hybrid. Matched case-insensitively as a substring of both the subtype key and its localized name. Empty skips nothing. |
Install
Install SpecialCircumstances-ForgeSmartToggle with a mod manager (Gale,
r2modman, Thunderstore Mod Manager); dependencies come with it. Manual install:
drop ForgeSmartToggle.dll into BepInEx/plugins/.
Requires BepInEx 5.4.2100, Trainworks Reloaded 0.7.2, Conductor 0.4.1.
Notes
Only units you play yourself are exempted, and only by the subtypes of the character they spawn. Units summoned by a card's effects, and spell cards, are unaffected.
Hybrid lives entirely mod-side: the game's own forge toggle stays true, so save
data and replays are unaffected, and anything that sets the toggle directly (new
run, replay, undo) falls back to plain On/Off.
Build
