README

UITweaks

A Monster Train 2 mod that fixes seven things about the game's interface. Each can be turned off on its own.

  • Faster Titan transitions — the map's run-up to the Titan and its victory lap after are skipped; the Titan's arrival and death play several times faster.
  • Greedy Blights — under Fhyra's Greed, the Blights in hand that damage the Pyre, and so pay gold, glow gold.
  • Hybrid forge toggle — a third state for the in-battle forge toggle that spends no Forge Points on cheap swarm units.
  • Inscryption path on the map — the branch the Inscryption event's secret code asks for is highlighted at each of its three choices.
  • Reroll warning — a badge and a confirmation before a shop reroll leaves you short on gold.
  • Judge's Scales at once — pick every card to discard, then one Discard.
  • Wider deck screen — the deck and pile views, and every card pick, show 6 columns of cards instead of 4.

Three of these exist as mods of their own too: ForgeSmartToggle, InscryptionWarning and RerollConfirmation. When one of those is installed, this mod leaves that feature to it, so nothing runs twice, whatever the feature's Enabled says.

The config is BepInEx/config/SpecialCircumstances.UITweaks.cfg, one section per feature. Edits apply live: save the file while the game is running.

Faster Titan transitions

The sequences around the final battle that nothing can be done in are cut. On the map, once the Titan is accepted on the fight-or-leave screen, the train's run-up to it is skipped: the battle loads as soon as the map has. The victory lap after the Titan falls is skipped the same way, straight to the run's end screen. In the battle, the Titan's arrival, the floors it tears down, and everything from its death to the victory screen run at several times the game's speed, as does the map's ordinary victory lap after a last ring won without the Titan. The sped-up sequences keep the game's own order of events.

Key Default Meaning
TitanTransitions.Enabled true Whether the map sequences are skipped and the battle ones sped up.
TitanTransitions.SpeedFactor 5 How many times faster the sped-up ones run, 1–20. 1 is the game's own pace.

Greedy Blights

Fhyra's Greed pays 10 gold whenever the Pyre takes damage, which turns a Blight such as Dante's Candle or Vengeful Shard into income. While a relic with that effect is held, every Blight in hand whose effects or triggers damage the Pyre wears the champion card's gold edge glow.

Key Default Meaning
GreedBlights.Enabled true Whether those Blights glow.

Hybrid forge toggle

The forge toggle cycles through three states instead of two. Hybrid behaves like Normal, except that playing a unit whose subtype is on the skip list, or a card on the card skip list (by default Railforged's Crafted Equipment), spends no Forge Points. It tints the toggle orange, pins an orange H badge to its corner, and adds a "(Hybrid)" suffix and the skipped subtypes and cards to the tooltip.

The order decides what a single press does: with Normal → Hybrid → Disabled, one press from Disabled turns forging on as Normal; with Normal → Disabled → Hybrid, one press from Normal turns forging off and the next enters Hybrid.

Key Default Meaning
ForgeSmartToggle.Enabled true Whether Hybrid exists at all. Off leaves the toggle plain On/Off.
ForgeSmartToggle.ToggleOrder NormalDisabledHybrid NormalHybridDisabled or NormalDisabledHybrid.
ForgeSmartToggle.SkippedSubtypes Morsel, Imp, Whelp, Steward Subtypes that cost no Forge Points in Hybrid. Matched case-insensitively as a substring of both the subtype key and its localized name. Empty skips nothing.
ForgeSmartToggle.SkippedCards CraftedEquipment Cards, units or equipment, that cost no Forge Points in Hybrid. Matched case-insensitively as a substring of both the card's asset name and its localized title. Empty skips nothing.

Only cards you play yourself are exempted: units by the subtypes of the character they spawn, and any unit or equipment card by its own name. Units summoned by a card's effects, and spell cards, are unaffected.

Hybrid lives entirely mod-side: the game's own forge toggle stays true, so save data and replays are unaffected, and anything that sets the toggle directly (new run, replay, undo) falls back to plain On/Off.

Inscryption path on the map

The Inscryption event marks a creature with a secret 3-bit code — the path to take at each of the next three branches. The matching node at each of those three branches is highlighted, until the event is complete.

Key Default Meaning
InscryptionWarning.Enabled true Whether the hint is shown.
InscryptionWarning.CueStyle Diegetic Diegetic (a soft halo behind the node), Icon (a small badge), Debug (an unmissable marker).
InscryptionWarning.CueColor Gold Gold, Red or Blue, for the halo and the badge. Debug keeps its magenta.
InscryptionWarning.DiegeticStrength 0.6 Halo strength, 0–1. 0.35 is subtle, 0.99 bold. Ignored by the other styles.
InscryptionWarning.VerboseLogging false One log line per map node, for diagnosing a missing cue.

Only the most recent Inscryption event is tracked. The Diegetic halo sits behind the node rather than tinting it, so it can be easy to miss: raise DiegeticStrength or switch to Icon.

Reroll warning

A minimum-gold threshold per shop type. A reroll that would drop you below it gets a red "!" badge on the reroll button, and asks for confirmation before spending anything.

Key Default Meaning
RerollConfirmation.Enabled true Whether the badge and dialog appear at all.
RerollConfirmation.TrinketShopMinimumGold 135 Gold to still have after rerolling the Merchant of Trinkets.
RerollConfirmation.OtherShopMinimumGold 90 Same, for Card/Steel/Arms/Magic shops.

The Guild Marker relic discounts merchant prices by 25%, so while you own it both thresholds are scaled by 0.75. Only rerolls are touched — buying the goods themselves is left alone. A reroll you can't afford at all is still rejected by the game as usual, with no dialog in the way.

Judge's Scales at once

The game has Judge's Scales discard one card at a time: pick, Discard, pick, Discard, Done. Here a click greys a card out where it sits in hand (click again to unmark it), and one Discard button discards every marked card and draws that many. Done, shown while nothing is marked, keeps the hand. The relic's effect itself is unchanged.

Key Default Meaning
JudgesScales.Enabled true Whether to pick all at once. Off restores the game's one-at-a-time flow.
JudgesScales.SelectedCardTint empty Colour of the marked cards, hex RRGGBB or RRGGBBAA. Empty uses the grey the game gives ineligible cards.

Wider deck screen

The deck screen lays its cards out in 4 columns, using 1140 of the screen's 1920 units. It uses 6 instead, so a run's deck needs less scrolling. The start-of-run showcase keeps its own layout. A changed Columns applies the next time the screen opens.

Key Default Meaning
DeckColumns.Enabled true Whether the deck screen uses more columns.
DeckColumns.Columns 6 How many columns, 2–8. 6 full-size cards span 1730 of the 1920 units; 7 overflow.
