README

Nivalis Phone

A full in-game phone for Nivalis Nights. Press R to pull it out and run your whole life in the city from one screen: quests, venues, money, farms, shopping, the map, photos, calls, bills and music. No more digging through menus and terminals.

Gritty, blocky, and themed to fit the world. You can keep walking while you use it.

Getting around the phone

  • R: take the phone out or put it away (the key can be changed in Settings).
  • Left click: tap buttons and apps. Scroll wheel: scroll the screen.
  • Hold right mouse: look around with the phone still out.
  • Triangle home key (bottom of the phone), or tap the title/clock: back to the home screen.
  • Red side button or Esc: put the phone away.
  • Movement keeps working while the phone is out. Interacting with the world is paused so you don't grab things by accident.

Lock screen

Pulling the phone out shows the lock screen first (it can be switched off):

  • A big clock and date that stay in sync with the game clock.
  • Live alerts that stay until you deal with them:
    • RESTOCK NEEDED: venues low on ingredients that have no manager (managers restock on their own).
    • HARVEST READY: how many crops are ready to pick.
  • XENO Radio controls with the current song.
  • Your latest notifications.
  • An overdue phone bill shows a red bar.
  • Click anywhere (or press the home key) to unlock.

Home screen

An old-school smartphone layout:

  • App grid with chunky pixel-art icons. Red badges show unread items.
  • Dock for the apps you use most: Quests, Messages, Map, Camera.
  • Widgets at the top: today's profit, your rank, crops ready, and bill status.
  • Wallpaper: a pixel skyline by default, or any photo you take (see Gallery).
  • Notification light next to the home key, which blinks when something is unread.

Apps

Quests

  • A clean list of active quests with their objectives, progress (like 2/5), who gave them and how far away they are.
  • Tap a quest to open it in the game's journal.
  • PIN up to 3 quests. Each pin gets its own colour (cyan, amber, lime) and:
    • a card on screen while the phone is away
    • an on-screen marker in that colour pointing at the quest's target, with distance and UP/DOWN when it's on another floor. It sticks to the screen edge when the target is off-screen or behind you.
  • You can hide the game's big quest list on the right of the screen (Settings) because the phone replaces it.

Venues

For every venue you own:

  • Profit today, this week and lifetime, matching the venue terminal.
  • Level goals with progress bars: the same goals the terminal shows.
  • Star rating and review count, and whether the venue is open or closed.
  • Staff: headcount and staff happiness, as the terminal shows it.
  • Restock status: "needs restock" for venues without a manager, "your manager will restock" for venues with one.
  • Tap a venue to open its overview in the game.

Stats

  • A 14-day profit chart.
  • Meals and sales for the last 7 days, average per day, and your best day.
  • Best-selling dishes and your busiest and quietest hours.

Farms

  • Every greenhouse and planter, with the crop, a growth bar and %, an estimate of time left, and READY when done.

Shopping

  • The game's shopping list: what you need and what you have.
  • For each item, the cheapest vendor that has it in stock, at the real shop price, in areas you've visited.
  • Tap an item:
    • The vendor is in this area: you get a waypoint.
    • It's in another area you've visited: tap twice to fast travel there, and the waypoint is set when you arrive.

Market

  • Real shop prices across every area you've visited (areas you haven't been to are left out).
  • Daily deals, the best deals right now, the cheapest areas overall, and market news.
  • Tap a deal to get a waypoint or fast travel to it.

Map

  • "You are in…" your current area.
  • Your apartments: every apartment you rent or own, in every area.
    • In this area: tap for a waypoint.
    • In another unlocked area: TAXI, tap twice to fast travel straight to its door.
  • Apartments here that aren't yours.
  • Your venues here, plus vendors here sorted by distance. Vendors that sell something on your shopping list say "Has: …".
  • Rival venues.
  • Waypoints show as a pink on-screen marker with distance and UP/DOWN. The waypoint clears when you arrive.

Rank

  • The live leaderboard: everyone's points, your place, and how many points you need to pass the next rival.
  • A notification when you move up or down.

Camera

  • A live viewfinder through your character's eyes.
  • The game's own photo filters and settings: filter, zoom, grain, vignette, depth of field and frame.
  • WORLD setting: apply a filter to the whole game world, not just photos (default: VIBRANCE 2).
  • Grid overlay. The shutter saves to the game's photo folder.
  • PRO opens the game's full photo mode.

Gallery

  • Your photos, newest first, with a full-size viewer.
  • SET AS WALLPAPER puts any photo on your home and lock screen.
  • OPEN FOLDER opens the photo folder on your PC.

Messages

  • The transcript of every phone call (Ava and others), grouped by caller, with day and time.
  • Saved per character. Loading an older save rewinds your messages to that point, so no calls "from the future".

XENO (your phone carrier)

Your phone comes with a plan from XENO Incorporated:

  • A weekly bill (default $150 per in-game week). The first bill arrives a week after you start using the phone.
  • Auto-pay takes it from your wallet when it's due and retries every in-game hour.
  • If you can't pay, you get 1 day (can be changed) to pay before…
  • ADS. An unpaid phone plays the game's own billboard and TV ads full screen. While an ad is playing, the phone can't be used until it's over (about 15 seconds). Ads play when you take the phone out and every couple of minutes while you use it. Calls always get through.
  • The XENO app shows what you owe, the next bill day, your wallet, a PAY NOW button, and your bill history. Preview an ad break lets you see what you're in for.
  • Bills are saved per character and rewind with older saves, so you never get double-charged.
  • You can switch the bill off or change the price and the number of days you get to pay in Settings.

XENO Radio

A remote for the music already playing on your PC: Spotify (free or Premium), YouTube or YouTube Music in a browser, Apple Music, or any player that shows in the Windows media pop-up. No login, no setup.

  • Start your playlist or song on your PC, then control it from the phone.
  • Album art, song, artist and album, plus which app it's playing in.
  • Live visualizer driven by the real audio level of your music.
  • Progress bar, previous, play/pause and next.
  • Volume for just that app (through the Windows volume mixer). The game's volume isn't touched.
  • An ON AIR light, and mini controls on the lock screen.
  • If song info isn't available on a PC, the buttons still work like keyboard media keys.
  • How it reads your music: while the game is open, XENO Radio runs a small PowerShell command that asks Windows what's playing. It's the same info the Windows volume pop-up shows. Nothing is downloaded or saved, no Windows settings are changed, and it closes with the game. Don't want it? Turn off XENO Radio song info in Settings, and the radio buttons then work as plain media keys.

Settings

Everything can be changed live:

  • Phone: open/close key, theme, app icon style (colourful or theme-coloured), phone size, screen glass strength, home wallpaper and how much it's darkened, lock screen, tap sounds.
  • Look of the game: theme the game's HUD, themed dialogue box (Calls / All conversations / Off), the world filter and its strength.
  • On screen and alerts: notifications, restock alert, harvest alert, pinned quests, hiding the game's quest list.
  • Phone bill: on/off, price per week, days to pay.
  • System check: shows that every part of the mod found what it needs in the game.

Themes

Six looks, each with its own phone body, edge lights and colours: PipBoy (green), Amber, Neon (pink and cyan), Arctic (silver and ice blue), Rust (copper and orange) and Blackout (black and white).

The theme also restyles the game itself (both can be switched off):

  • The game's HUD: gold accents, panels and compass markers take the theme colour.
  • Ava's dialogue box (and optionally every conversation): a chamfered panel, glowing frame, scanlines, a framed portrait, plus a header with the CALL tag, caller name, a call timer and a live voice equalizer while she talks. The game's own box still runs the conversation, so voices and replies work normally.

Notifications

They pop up in the top right while the phone is away, and as a banner when it's out:

  • Restock needed (venues without a manager), harvest ready.
  • New quest, quest updated, quest finished.
  • Rank changes.
  • Daily recap at the end of each day: profit across your venues and your rank.
  • Unhappy staff warnings.
  • Bills: XENO bill, paid, auto-pay failed, service restored.
  • Repeat alerts are filtered out.

Requirements

  • BepInEx 6 IL2CPP (BepInExPack IL2CPP 6.0.788). Mod managers install it automatically.
  • Windows 10 or 11. XENO Radio uses Windows' built-in media info, so there's nothing extra to install.

Install

Mod manager (recommended): install with Thunderstore Mod Manager, r2modman or Gale. BepInEx comes with it automatically. Launch the game modded.

Manual: install BepInEx 6 IL2CPP for Nivalis Nights and run the game once. Then put NivalisPhone.dll in BepInEx/plugins/NivalisPhone/.

Files the mod creates

All in BepInEx/config/:

  • com.auctive.nivalisphone.cfg: your settings.
  • com.auctive.nivalisphone.messages.*.txt, .pins.*.txt, .bill.*.txt: call history, pins and bills, one set per character.

Tips and compatibility

  • Calls, pins and bills are saved per character and follow your saves, including loading older ones.
  • If another mod changes the HUD, turn off Theme the game's HUD.
  • If a conversation ever looks odd with the themed dialogue box, set it to Off.
