Buy Houses From The Start
Summary
This mod allows you to buy the player houses in Berg, Levant, Monsoon, and Harmattan from the start, without having to finish the main quest or join the corresponding faction.
You can buy the player houses from the NPCs in front of them for 500 silver like you would normally, but now the NPCs appear right from the start.
Manual Installation
- Install BepInExPack
- Extract the mod archive into the BepInEx folder
Compatibility
The mod should be compatible with anything that does not change how player houses are bought. So far there are no known incompatible mods. If you find any issues, ping me (@ModderJohn) on the Outward Modding Discord.
The mod should be safe to install or uninstall mid-playthrough, but making a backup never hurts. If you uninstall the mod, you will keep all bought houses. However, without this mod, the game will not let you enter the Harmattan player house until you satisfy the vanilla requirements to own it. Once you complete the main quest or join the Sorobor Academy, the house will be accessible again.
Known Issues
In my testing I found that during the quest "Blood Under The Sun", there is a specific point after presenting all evidence to Cyrene where the quest can be left paused when refusing to help her. If you then talk to the Levant house seller, the Levant player house will be awarded for free, which usually should only happen when the quest is completed, right after helping her.
Since this is a hard to stumble upon in normal gameplay and the house is awarded for free shortly afterwards anyway, I wont fix this for now to keep the mod simple and to avoid interfering with quest progression.
Disclaimer
Im not very experienced with C# so I used the help of Codex to create the harmony patch, I reviewed and optimized generated code and tested the mod in-game to make sure it works as intended.
