Peak Friends Edition

Peak Friends Edition is a modpack for PEAK designed primarily for multiplayer sessions with friends. It keeps the spirit and difficulty of the original game while adding a large number of Quality of Life improvements, better information through the UI, new gameplay mechanics, and a few chaotic additions to make expeditions even more unpredictable.

The goal is not to completely change PEAK, but to make multiplayer sessions smoother, more readable, and more varied.

✨ Main Additions

🧗 Better Cooperative Gameplay

Several mods directly improve interactions between players:

• Catch Players allows you to catch a nearby player who is falling. It can literally save a run when a teammate makes a mistake.
• Reconnect Catchup allows players who reconnect to an ongoing session to catch up with the group by teleporting them to the lowest player. This is a Host Only feature.
• HostReviveMod adds several ways to revive teammates, including hold-to-revive, group revives, and even dance-based revives.
• FollowMe records paths taken by players and can display them as visual guides, making it easier to show teammates which route you took.
• PeakStatsEx greatly expands the information available about your team, including teammate stamina, inventories, current height, biome, day/night cycle, fog, lava, and more.

These additions are particularly useful in cooperative runs where keeping track of everyone can otherwise be difficult.

🖥️ Quality of Life & UI Improvements

The modpack adds a significant amount of information that is normally unavailable in PEAK:

• DayNightUI displays the current day/night cycle directly on the HUD, with an optional clock.
• WindIndicatorUI indicates when the player is being directly affected by wind during snowstorms.
• PhotonPingGUI and EnhancedPing improve the visibility and usability of player pings.
• PingItems makes nearby items and backpacks easier to identify from a ping, including their names, distances, and off-screen indicators.
• ItemStats displays statistics for the currently selected item.
• StableThirdPersonCamera adds a stabilized third-person camera that can be toggled at any time.
• BetterCannon makes cannons easier to reposition and use.
• PEAK Lobby Browser provides a convenient way to browse available multiplayer lobbies.

The overall goal is to make important information easier to access without constantly having to open menus or rely on external communication.

🎮 New Gameplay Options

The pack also introduces several new mechanics and challenges.

🪢 Rope Swinging

RopeSwingingMod gives ropes more physical gameplay possibilities by allowing players to build momentum and swing from them.

This adds another way to approach difficult sections and makes rope movement more dynamic.

🤸 Hardcore Parkour

HardcoreParkour adds aerial flips that can be performed while falling or jumping.

Successfully landing tricks can restore stamina, rewarding players who are willing to take risks.

😎 Devil May Climb

Devil May Climb introduces a Style Meter that rewards stylish and spectacular actions while climbing.

If you're going to risk your life, you might as well look good doing it.

⛓️ Chained

Chained connects players together with a physical chain.

The host can toggle the chain with F10, creating a completely different way to approach certain sections of the climb.

🔥 Warming Lava

Warming Lava introduces additional gameplay mechanics around lava and heat, making volcanic areas more dangerous and giving the environment another gameplay consideration.

🥚 Getting Yolked

Getting Yolked gives eggs additional gameplay effects involving stamina and strength, along with some more humorous effects.

🍖 Full Belly

Full Belly expands the hunger system.

Eating enough food can fill your belly and temporarily prevent hunger from decreasing. The system also introduces the possibility of becoming overly full.

👹 Mimic

Mimic introduces a new threat capable of copying the appearance of a player and using their voice to lure other players.

This can turn simple communication into a potential trap.

👿 Green Demon Challenge

Green Demon Challenge adds an additional challenge involving the appearance of a Green Demon, forcing players to continue their climb while dealing with an additional threat.

👥 More Than Four Players

PEAK Unlimited removes the game's standard player limit, allowing significantly larger groups to play together.

This is especially useful for community sessions, large groups of friends, or chaotic multiplayer events.

The mod is primarily Host-side, so the host is the important player to have it installed.

🎥 Extra Features & Fun Mods

The pack also contains a number of smaller additions:

• PeakCinema — adds a free camera / cinematic camera for screenshots, trailers, and videos.
• LinkInvite — makes inviting players easier.
• DiscordRPC — improves Discord Rich Presence integration.
• GhostHats — adds cosmetic content for ghost players.
• PEAK Emote Lib — provides the framework for additional emotes.
• Twerk Emote — adds a twerking emote.
• Middle Finger Emote — adds a middle-finger emote.
• PEAK Farts — adds additional humorous effects and mechanics.
• Vasodilation — introduces another gameplay mechanic with a deliberately chaotic flavor.
• Get Off Cacti — improves interactions involving cacti.
• Poop — adds, quite literally, poop to PEAK.
• PiggyBank — adds an additional resource-related mechanic.

These mods are not intended to fundamentally alter the game, but they add extra variety and plenty of opportunities for ridiculous multiplayer moments.

🎨 Visuals & Performance

The modpack includes PEAK Visuals, which significantly expands the game's graphical configuration options.

It provides additional control over things such as:

• Supersampling
• Rendering resolution
• Anti-aliasing
• TAA / MSAA
• Upscaling
• Shadow quality
• LOD quality
• Shadow map resolution
• Anisotropic filtering
• Soft shadows

This makes it possible to prioritize either visual quality or performance depending on your hardware.

Performance recommendations

If PEAK already runs well on your system, experimenting with render resolution and supersampling can noticeably improve image quality.

If you need more FPS, the first settings worth reducing are generally:

1. Render resolution / supersampling
2. Shadow quality
3. Other visual quality settings

PEAK Visuals does not inherently mean lower performance — it simply exposes more graphical settings. Your performance will depend on the settings you choose.

⚙️ Configuration

First Launch Required

Some mod configuration files will not exist immediately after installing the modpack.

Several mods generate their .cfg files only when the game is launched for the first time.

Therefore, if you cannot find a configuration mentioned by the modpack:

Launch PEAK at least once with the modpack installed, then close the game.

The required configuration files should then be generated inside the BepInEx/config folder.

This is normal and does not mean the modpack was installed incorrectly.

🛡️ BetterModVerifier

The modpack includes BetterModVerifier, which improves the verification of required mods in multiplayer.

Some of its configuration options are intentionally disabled by default in this modpack.

This is deliberate: the goal is to avoid making the game unnecessarily restrictive or preventing players from joining because of configuration differences that do not meaningfully affect gameplay.

For the best experience, it is recommended to keep the modpack's default BetterModVerifier configuration unless you specifically know why you want to change it.

📦 Recommended Installation Method

The recommended way to install and manage Peak Friends Edition is Gale.

Gale — Official GitHub Repository

Gale is a modern Thunderstore mod manager that can handle profiles, dependencies, configurations, and modpack imports.

Installation

1. Install Gale.
2. Select PEAK.
3. Import the Peak Friends Edition profile/modpack.
4. Let Gale install the required dependencies automatically.
5. Launch PEAK once.
6. Close the game so all required configuration files can be generated.
7. Launch the game again and play.

Using Gale is strongly recommended instead of manually installing every mod, especially because this pack contains several framework and dependency mods.

📋 About Dependencies

Frameworks and libraries required by other mods — such as BepInEx, PEAKLib, MonoDetour, ModConfig, UniTask, AutoHookGenPatcher, and similar components — are intentionally not covered in detail here.

They are required for the modpack to function but do not directly add gameplay content or player-facing features.

Gale should handle their installation automatically.

• Some multiplayer features require all players to have the corresponding mod installed.
• Some mods are Host Only, meaning only the host needs them.

• The pack focuses primarily on QoL, cooperative improvements, and additional gameplay options, while keeping the core PEAK experience intact.
