MyFoothold
A smoothness and responsiveness-focused alternative to the original Foothold? mod, completely rewritten from scratch.
This is a derivative work inspired by the original mod's concept. Credit goes to the original author for the initial idea and implementation. This version maintains the same license and is distributed as a community alternative.

Key Differences from Original
This edition prioritizes consistent frametime smoothness and responsiveness, eliminating stutter spikes that occurred during visualization scans. This complete rewrite replaces 3D ball indicators with lightweight 2D texture-based markers, significantly reducing both memory usage and rendering overhead.
Performance Philosophy
This mod is designed to maintain smooth frame rates without causing frame drops on reasonable spec computers. Scanning and indicator display are optimized to have negligible performance impact, allowing you to use the mod continuously without compromising gameplay smoothness.
Usage
Press F (configurable) to toggle the visualization. The mod will scan a 15×10×15 cube around your camera and spawn markers:
- ⭕ (Hollow Circle) — Standable ground (slope 30–50°)
- ❌ (Cross) — Steep, non-standable ground (slope > 50°)
- No markers — Flat ground (< 30°)
Configuration
Edit BepInEx/config/my.pahsiv.MyFoothold.cfg (auto-generated on first run) to customize. Or use ModConfig to change setting in-game.
- Indicator Color — Different Indicator colors.
- Activation Key — Change from
Fto any key. - Indicator Density — Density of the indicator. Higher value makes them easier to see in bright daylight.
- Activation Mode — Toggle, trigger, fade away or continuous behavior.
