README

Omni-Directional Mobility Gear

A right-hand grappling launcher for PEAK, inspired by Attack on Titan's ODM gear.

Spawn with your gear already equipped. Fire at terrain, pull yourself toward it, and use PEAK's normal wall climbing when you reach the surface. No inventory slot or ammunition is needed.

This is an experimental, single-player-tested release. Multiplayer and full-run compatibility have not been verified.

Controls

Input Action
Right mouse button Fire at the aimed surface and pull toward it. Click again to redirect.
Hold left mouse button Grab and climb a nearby wall; move with WASD.
Release left mouse button Let go of the wall.
Space Disconnect the cable. Normal jumping remains available.
F6 Enable or disable gear mode. Disable it to use normal item and help/reach controls.

Gear mode starts enabled. Your starting held item is stowed automatically. Clicking either mouse button in gear mode also stows a held item; it is kept in your inventory.

Features

  • Automatically equips a permanent right-hand launcher when your local character spawns.
  • Unlimited uses with a 0.22-second firing interval.
  • Default range: 40 game units. Default target pull speed: 16 units per second.
  • Automatically releases on arrival, after six seconds, if the anchor disappears, or when climbing begins.
  • Releases when player input is blocked, focus is lost, or the character becomes incapacitated.
  • English controls and status display.

Normal climbing still consumes stamina. Fall damage still applies after releasing the hook.

Installation

Install with Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman, including the BepInExPack_PEAK dependency, then launch modded PEAK. Start with Play Solo for this release.

For manual installation, install BepInExPack_PEAK first, then copy this package's BepInEx/plugins/PeakOdmGear directory into your game's BepInEx/plugins directory.

Restart the game after installing or updating the mod.

Configuration

After first launch, settings are generated in:

BepInEx/config/dev.midor.peak.odmgear.cfg

  • Gear / Range: maximum grapple distance, 5-120 game units.
  • Gear / PullSpeed: target pull speed, 4-30 units per second.
  • Display / ShowHud: show or hide the English control hints.

Current limitations

  • Hooks terrain and surfaces. Hooking or rescuing teammates is not implemented.
  • Other players do not receive synchronized launcher/cable visuals.
  • Multiplayer, controllers, full mountain runs, and combinations with other input or climbing mods have not been tested.
  • This release uses a single hook. Dual hooks, gas tanks, blades, and anime character models are not included.

Validation

Tested in PEAK v2.6.a, Unity 6000.3.15f1, with BepInEx 5.4.23.3.

Automated tests ran inside the actual game: automatic equipment, 100 consecutive shots, nearest-surface selection, measured character pulling, disconnect, missing targets, mouse input routing, native wall climbing and release, and restoration of normal controls when disabled. The equipped model was also checked in an in-game capture.

Physical mouse playtesting and an entire mountain run remain unverified.
