Internal Resolution Downscaling
adds options to change the game's internal rendering resolution.
this mod could be used without it, but Risk of Options is essential if you want to change settings (such as scaling multiplier) on the fly.
i advise turning off Anti-Aliasing in Graphics settings in-game when adjusting rendering resolution, as it can heavely affect how the game looks on low resolutions.
Features
- downscaling to lower resolutions without affecting HUD, UI, damage numbers (optional) and chest prices (optional).
- integer scaling without the need for: exclusive fullscreen, monitor support, GPU support.
- three scaling filter options: nearest neighbor(point), bilinear, trilinear.
- exclusive fullscreen on the go and without any launch arguments
- supersampling
Use cases
- fps gains - you could easily drop your rendering resolution from 1.00x to 0.75x or 0.5x for potentially massive framerate increases. this will probably only help if you are GPU limited, but could still be used to reduce energy consumption and GPU load.
- aesthetic - if you like pixels and retro aesthetic. i personally made this mod because I think RoR2 artstyle shines best when given some "crunchiness" and texture. on native resolution it looks a lot like clay, in my opinion.
- anti-aliasing option..? - if you have a very beefy pc you can supersample your resolution instead of downscaling it, giving you a very expensive anti-aliasing option.
- exclusive fullscreen - sometimes (especially on Windows), borderless windowed mode can introduce some input lag and performance issues, and vanilla RoR2 runs on borderless windowed by default. this mod adds a toggle option to choose between exclusive fullscreen and borderless windowed.
Why not just lower the resolution in-game?
There are a few reasons:
- Game becomes blurry unless you divide your native resolution by a power of two AND play in exclusive fullscreen.
- Game becomes very prone to crashing on low resolutions in exclusive fullscreen.
- The UI elements become unreadable on low resolutions.
yes this mod is ai slop, dont expect me to update ts..
