README

Shrinking Zone

A closing perimeter for ROUNDS, battle-royale style. A ring appears around the arena and shrinks over time — anyone caught outside it takes damage based on their max health, and gets pushed back toward the center.

Features

  • Ring shrinks smoothly from a large starting radius down to a small final one
  • Damage scales with each player's max health, so it stays fair regardless of health-boosting cards
  • A short invulnerability window at the start of each duel, so nobody takes a cheap hit before they've even had a chance to move
  • Looping sound effect while the ring is actively collapsing
  • A tick sound plays each time you take zone damage
  • Fully synced in multiplayer — everyone sees the same ring at the same time

Requirements

Configuration

Current settings (not yet exposed as an in-game config menu — edit and recompile if you want to change these):

Setting Default Description
Start radius 100 Size of the ring at the start of a duel
Final radius 8 Size the ring shrinks down to
Shrink delay 5s Time before the ring starts shrinking
Shrink duration 25s Time it takes to fully collapse
Damage rate 10%/sec Percentage of max health lost per second outside the ring
Invulnerability window 10s No damage at all for this long after a duel starts

Known limitations

  • Zone always centers on the same point regardless of map — very large or unusually-shaped maps may need the center adjusted for the ring to line up well with the play area
