GallusRefit
Add-on for Aquilartz's Old Chronian ship mod (needs it and Old Chronian Fixes first, from Discord): his Gallus refitted as a long haul cruising smack. A hold to live in, deck houses, chart desk, stern pit, laid teak, ten liveries.

The Gallus Refit: a Long Haul Cruising Smack (Gallus Hold Fix 1.6.1)
Red Yeti Shipwright
1.6.1 (11 Oct 2026): a guard for a first-day report of barrels and crates
vanishing when picked up. If it still happens to you, unticking easy cargo
placing in the game's Settings (General) should stop it; please send your
BepInEx LogOutput.log, which now names what caused it.
The Old Chronian mod's Gallus, a 13 m fishing smack with a bare hold, refitted to live aboard: a fifth larger every way, a framed and ballasted hold you can walk and crouch through, floors, a cabin under a deck house, a chart desk, a berth, a stern pit by the tiller, a deck laid in teak, rails, ratlines, a bowsprit net, ten liveries and three finishes. Everything is bought at the shipyard, one piece at a time, with the ship's own parts. Nothing in the Old Chronian mod itself is changed.
This is an add-on. You need the original mod first. The Gallus and the whole Old Chronian fleet are the work of Aquilartz, the original modder. His Old Chronian ship mod must be installed before this one: without it there is no Gallus to refit. Old Chronian Fixes is needed as well. This refit is made with his permission.
The illustrated brochure, Gallus_Refit_Brochure.html, is in this
package: open it in any browser.
Requirements
- Sailwind, BepInEx 5 (installed by Thunderstore Mod Manager / r2modman)
- The Old Chronian ship mod by Aquilartz (the Gallus herself). It is a Discord mod, not on Thunderstore, so a mod manager cannot fetch it: install it by hand FIRST. This add-on does nothing without it.
- Old Chronian Fixes (Discord, with Old Chronian). Her bilge pump is the Caelanor's pump from that mod, cut down to her size; install it by hand too. Only the pump needs it: without it everything else still works, and the shipyard list shows "Bilge Pump: needs Old Chronian Fixes" in its place.
That is all it needs. It works with or without the Old Chronian Refit and Dangerous Waters.
Optional:
- Configuration Manager (F1) to change settings in the game.
It runs beside NANDFixes and NANDTweaks. (NANDFixes 1.4.3's shipyard text wrap could hang on long part names; this plugin guards it.)
Install
Unzip into BepInEx\plugins\. You should get:
BepInEx\plugins\GallusHoldFix\GallusHoldFix.dll
BepInEx\plugins\GallusHoldFix\GallusTextures\ (45 pictures)
BepInEx\plugins\GallusHoldFix\OldChronianReadable\ (the Gallus, readable)
Any folder under plugins will do, as long as the two folders stay beside
the DLL. Start the game. The settings file
BepInEx\config\com.dixiecapt.sailwind.gallusholdfix.cfg is written on the
first run.
The Gallus, made readable
This plugin fits everything by measuring the Gallus's own hull, deck and
rigging, and the Old Chronian ship file as handed out keeps that out of
reach. So the package carries the Gallus again, identical but for that one
flag, in OldChronianReadable\. On the first start the plugin backs up the
stock gallus file in the Old Chronian folder as gallus.orig.bak and puts
the readable one in its place. It touches only the stock file it recognises,
says what it did in the log, and can be switched off (F1, Advanced settings,
"Swap in the readable Gallus"). She looks and sails exactly as before. If you
already have the Old Chronian Refit or Dangerous Waters, they have done the
same and nothing more happens. To undo it, delete gallus and rename
gallus.orig.bak back to gallus.
What changes as soon as she loads
- Her size. 1.20 longer, 1.236 beamier, 1.20 deeper: about 16 m on deck and 4.6 m in the beam. Her weight and buoyancy follow. (Settings, Size, "Enlarge the Gallus" turns it off.)
- Her hold. You can walk forward from the foot of the aft ladder. Frames under every deck beam, a keelson, stone ballast, a bilge. Loft ladders at both hatches that stow themselves under the lid.
- Crouching. Aboard her your body is a man's height, so you use the game's crouch key to go under the deck, and you stand again by yourself where there is room.
- Small things. 100 m of anchor rope; no rain splashes inside the hull; her mast hammocks lifted clear of the rail.
What you can buy, and where
Take her into any shipyard and look under Other. Prices are in that port's own coin.

Working her fittings
- Lids, leaves, hatches, ladders and covers: click them.
- Anything you can put things down on opens by its iron ring or brass knob instead, so the game still lets you set things on it: the cabin floor's storage hatch (rings), the chart desk, the dash shelf and the stern locker's door (knobs).
- Chart desk: click it to bring it down; click the knob for the port leaf; click the knob again for the two aft leaves (0.82 x 0.66 m). Once more folds it all away. It remembers how you left it.
- Gangway ladder in the cockpit's doorway: click it and it stands up as the door.
- Canvas on the raised hatch: click the roll to batten down over a shut grating; click the cover to take it off.
- Large deck locker: click a cover to lift both off; click the board at the pit's forward edge to lay them back.
- Ratlines: look at a rung and click to climb.
Settings (F1)
The Configuration Manager shows the settings most players touch:
- Name: her name, the font (any font installed on your computer), the paint, bold, letter height.
- Fittings: chart desk height; flush teak hatches on or off; stone ballast and how many rows; hammock lift and stretch; the pump's size and place; the bowsprit net's reach; anchor rope length; rain splashes in the hold.
- Crouch: crouching on or off, standing height, crouched height, eye height when crouched.
- Finish: deck sheen, inside sheen, waterline height.
- Size: enlarge the Gallus.
Tick Advanced settings in the Configuration Manager for the rest (the size factors, which parts the shipyard offers, frame spacing and so on). Most of those take effect when she next loads.
One caution: the switches that end "at the shipyard" decide which parts the yard offers. Set them before you buy anything. The game remembers what you bought by each part's place in the list, and switching Platforms or the liveries off later moves every part after them.
Adding it to a save, and taking it out
Safe to add to a save that already has a Gallus: she loads as built, at her new size, and the new parts are simply there to buy. If you take the plugin out again she goes back to how Old Chronian built her; things you had put on its floors and shelves will be where the floor used to be, so empty her first.
Reporting bugs
Send BepInEx\LogOutput.log from the session, with what you were doing. The
plugin writes a line for everything it builds, and the answer is nearly
always in there. Discord: the Sailwind modding channels.
Credits and licence
The Gallus and the Old Chronian ships are by Aquilartz, the original modder. This is an add-on to his Old Chronian mod, made with his permission; nothing of his is bundled or changed, and his mod is needed first.
The refit is by Dixiecapt (Red Yeti Shipwright), with Claude (Anthropic) drafting the code to his direction. The pump is Old Chronian Fixes' Caelanor pump; it is not bundled and stays its author's.
