BACK TO WORK!
A BepInEx (mod loader) plugin for Shadows of Doubt. Empty counters, unmanned stalls and black markets with nobody home: this mod puts the city's workers back where they belong.

What it does
- Street food stalls get a seller: the game places stalls around the city but never staffs them. Every stall now gets its own small business and an unemployed citizen behind the counter, so you can buy from it.
- Empty jobs get filled: posts the game left vacant (laundries, offices, plants, hospitals and so on) are given to unemployed citizens. A few people are always left unemployed, so the streets keep their idle and homeless.
- Black markets and weapons dealers stay at work: during their shift they no longer wander off for meals, snacks, cigarettes or a night out. They still answer the door, flee, fight and react to crime, so the password at the black market door works as before.
- Open around the clock: black markets, weapons dealers and Sync Clinics get extra staff for the night and for the regular staff's days off. Only the hours nobody covers get a new post, and everyone keeps a normal schedule with sleep and time at home.
- Fewer toilet breaks: workers on shift only leave for the toilet when they really need to. Night staff in particular otherwise leave desks and counters empty for long stretches.
- Hotel staff can rent rooms: everyone working at a hotel (manager, bar staff, cooks) can rent you a room, take payment and check you out, not only the porter at the desk.
Enforcers are never hired for other jobs.
Config
After one launch, edit BepInEx/config/sm3gm.sod.backtowork.cfg with the game closed.

Good to know
Hired workers and the extra posts are part of your save. Changing the settings later only affects what is added from then on; people already hired keep their jobs.
Install
Use Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman and install as normal. BepInEx is installed automatically.
To install by hand:
- Install BepInExPack IL2CPP version 6.0.755.
- Put
SoDBackToWork.dllinBepInEx/plugins/BackToWork/inside your existingBepInExfolder.
Works with new cities and existing saves.
