README

Sticky Controller Slots

When a controller disconnects, Stick Fight removes that player. When it reconnects it joins as a new player, often in a different colour, and its wins are gone.

With this mod:

  • The disconnected player's slot is kept: the colour, and the stats behind the win counter.
  • When the same controller reconnects, it gets that slot back, with its wins, and its place in the win counter.
  • Anyone new who joins in the meantime takes the lowest free slot that isn't being kept. If every other slot is in use, they get the kept one.

Kept slots are forgotten when the game reloads the lobby (going back to the lobby or restarting).

One setting, Enabled (on), in BepInEx\config\stickfight.stickyslots.cfg, or MODS in the pause menu with Menu Overhaul. Off = the game's normal joining.

Compatibility

  • Keyboard player: never keeps a slot, but doesn't take a kept one either.
  • Enhanced Bots: bots never keep a slot, but don't take a kept one either.
  • PaintCan: a returning player gets back the colour they painted their slot.

Local play only

Online games are unchanged.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

1.0.2

  • A weapon a player is holding no longer takes on the player's colour when they move to another slot.

1.0.1

  • Fixed: two players could end up in the same slot (same colour, same win counter) after players left and joined in a certain order, for example adding and removing Enhanced Bots' bots and then a fourth player joining. The game's own slot pick can repeat a slot that's in use; now the lowest free one is used instead.
  • Fixed: a newcomer who had to skip a kept slot wasn't put in slot order, so the game's corner win counters could show their wins in another player's corner and colour.
  • Shorter setting description, easier to read on Menu Overhaul's MODS page.

1.0.0

  • First release.
