Final Kill Replay
Final-kill replays for STRAFTAT, inspired by classic multiplayer killcams.
Features
- A replay at the end of a take, with slow motion before the finishing shot.
- Winning-team POV for ordinary kills; victim POV for explosive finishing kills and cliff deaths.
- Recorded local game audio that slows with the replay.
- A health meter showing the POV player's recorded health on a 100-point scale.
- Clean player names and the game's Century Gothic font when available.
- Five seconds of recording history, up to four viewpoints, at 40 FPS by default.
- The host's replay time counts toward the normal transition delay.
Installation with r2modman / Thunderstore Mod Manager
- Install this mod in a STRAFTAT profile. BepInExPack is installed as a dependency.
- Required loader setting: open that profile's
BepInEx/config/BepInEx.cfgand setHideManagerGameObject = trueunder[Chainloader]. If the file is missing, launch modded once, close the game, then edit it. Without this setting, STRAFTAT can remove the mod during startup. - Launch using Start modded.
- Install the same mod version on the host and everyone who wants to see replays. The host controls when the next take starts.
Do not install a second copy of the DLL in the same profile. This package does not overwrite your global BepInEx configuration.
Controls
| Control | Action |
|---|---|
| F7 | In a hosted lobby with only you present, load the first selected map for testing. |
| F9 | In a solo test map, preview your latest shot. Move around, shoot, wait a moment, then press within four seconds. |
| F8 | Skip your replay. Skipping on the host can advance the match for everyone. |
The game continues running during a solo preview. Stand somewhere safe.
Settings and upgrades
With the game closed, edit the profile's BepInEx/config/local.straftat.finalkillreplay.cfg.
| Setting | Default | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Width | 768 | 432p recording; 960 gives 540p. |
| FramesPerSecond | 40 | Recording frame rate, adjustable from 15 to 60. |
| RecordAudio | true | Record the local game audio mix. |
| SlowMotionSpeed | 0.2 | Playback speed near the finishing shot or death. |
| SlowMotionLeadSeconds | 0.45 | How early slow motion starts. |
| AudioDelayMilliseconds | 0 | Optional extra delay if sound plays early on your setup. |
Existing settings are preserved when updating. Set FramesPerSecond = 40 to change an older profile's frame rate. Restart after changing settings.
At 768 x 432 and 40 FPS, four full five-second recordings use about 1013 MiB of GPU frame storage; 960 x 540 uses about 1582 MiB. Rendering additional viewpoints also affects performance.
Current limitations
This is an experimental mod. Multiplayer POV selection, visibility, audio synchronization and repeated-take playback have received fixes but still need broader testing. Extremely short takes or unavailable recordings may produce no replay.
Each computer renders footage from locally received player state. Remote aim and animations can differ from the original player's screen. Sound is the local game mix, including music and in-game voice if present; it is not audio streamed from the POV player's computer. No desktop or microphone recording is started, and replay footage stays in memory.
An unmodified host does not wait for replays. Next-take or scene changes cancel playback. Check BepInEx/LogOutput.log for diagnostic messages if a replay is skipped.
Disable or uninstall the mod through your mod manager to remove it. The plugin contains no game assemblies or font files. The package icon was supplied by the author.
