README

Skald's Board

A base storage overview, a group contract board and named legends for groups that play Valheim together. Made against the old problem of big groups: some players only build and gather, others only fight and level, and the group falls apart into two halves.

English and Russian. The language follows your game language (Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian get Russian, everything else English) and can be changed in the mod settings.

Русское описание — ниже.

Base storage

The storage table (hammer → Crafting) shows everything in the base chests:

  • an overview of every resource in all chests within range;
  • search, with the chests that hold the item highlighted;
  • requests: a builder writes "the bridge needs 400 stone and 80 iron" and the storage shows what is missing;
  • reserves: what is set aside for a request can only be taken by its author;
  • hovering over a chest shows what is inside.

The storage only shows — it never takes anything remotely. Sorting items into chests is done by SmartContainers.

Upgrading the table

Extensions are placed next to the table, like workbench upgrades:

Level Extension Gives
1 — 30 m radius, 2 requests
2 Counting scales (bronze) 40 m, 4 requests, reserves
3 Strongbox (iron) 55 m, 6 requests, requests go up on the contract board
4 Map shelf (silver) 70 m, 8 requests, a notice when a request is gathered, directions to chests

Contract board

The contract board (hammer → Misc):

  • group contracts — everyone's contribution counts and the reward is split by it;
  • personal contracts — 6 offers, up to 3 taken, one reroll a day;
  • chains of several steps and a weekly contract;
  • base requests from level 3 storage tables;
  • contracts follow the group's progress: the current and previous biome, only the next undefeated boss;
  • a group contract can be declined by a vote of half the players online;
  • rewards are coins and EpicLoot enchanting materials (with a daily cap), hard contracts can give a runestone;
  • notices for completion, failure and progress.

Kills, deliveries to storage, crafting and cooking, harvesting, building, taming, finding dungeons, sailing and fishing all count. Tamed creatures, take-and-return deposits and demolished pieces are guarded against.

Legends

Now and then a named legend appears near a player: a much stronger creature of their biome with a retinue, a glow and a name — Hrodgeir Rot-Tooth, Mother of Wolves, the Jotun Colossus and 15 more. Everyone is told, and an area is marked on the map. With PathOfValheiman installed, a legend gets its stars and modifiers too. The reward is shared by damage dealt; if nobody kills it within two game days, it leaves.

Invasions

Rarely — far less often than vanilla raids — a warband of the group's current biome — fulings, draugr, seekers, with a starred leader — marches on a base (a storage table). It is announced a few minutes ahead, sets off from far away and is shown on the map as it moves. Intercept it in the field or hold the walls. Everyone who fought shares the reward; if nobody comes, it leaves.

Merchant caravan

Every 14 in-game days a merchant with a cart comes to a base (a storage table) and stays for an hour of play. He buys surplus resources for coins and sells goods of your biomes — mostly what you have never found yet. Coins finally have somewhere to go.

Gods' altar

Bring offerings to ten gods at the altar: fighters bring trophies, builders bring resources. Fill a god's favour and the whole group online is blessed for half an hour of play — Thor's lightning on every blow, Freyja's harvest and healing, Odin's wisdom and far sight, Hel's sorcery for mages, Heimdall's armour for those in front, and more.

Installation

The mod is required on every client and the server — players with a different version cannot connect. Install it with r2modman / Thunderstore Mod Manager together with its dependencies.

ConfigurationManager is recommended: all settings open with F1. The host sets the values; only an administrator can change them.

Data files

All contract targets, rewards, chains and weekly contracts are in BepInEx/config/LemyChadPack/contracts_catalog.yaml, the legends, warbands, the caravan's goods and the gods in legends.yaml, invasions.yaml, caravan.yaml and gods.yaml next to it (on the host). Each field is described at the top of the file.

Console commands (F5):

  • lc_catalog — reload the catalog and check every name against the game;
  • lc_contracts [personal|group|weekly|chains] [count] — preview what the board would hand out;
  • lc_legend [list | spawn [id] | reload] — legends (spawning only for the host);
  • lc_invasion [start [tier] | stop | reload] — invasions (host only);
  • lc_caravan [come | leave | reload | check] — the merchant caravan (host only, except check);
  • lc_altar [bless <god> | reset | reload | check] — the gods' altar (host only, except check).

Compatibility

Built and tested in a pack with PathOfValheiman, EpicLoot, SmartContainers, MultiUserChest and ConfigurationManager. It does not touch PathOfValheiman's internals. Without EpicLoot the board still works, but no materials are paid out.

Skald's Board (русский)

Каталог контрактов, легенды, отряды, товары каравана и боги — в BepInEx/config/LemyChadPack/ у хоста; команды lc_catalog, lc_contracts, lc_legend, lc_invasion, lc_caravan, lc_altar.

CHANGELOG

Changelog

1.5.4

  • New models for every piece of the mod: the storage table and its three extensions, the contract board, the gods' altar and the four wards. Real fire burns in the wards' bowls (in each tier's colour), in the altar's braziers and on the board's torch, with its crackle; the lantern on the storage table glows. Pieces already built take the new look at once. If a model cannot load, the old one is used.
  • "Where?" at the storage table is easy to follow: a pillar of light stands over every chest that holds the item (the nearest one tallest), each with the item and how many it holds, and an arrow at the screen edge points to the nearest chest with its distance. Marks last 30 s and go from a chest once it is opened; press again to clear them.
  • New sounds: a gong and choir when a god blesses you, a short chime when a contract or chain step is done, a horn and cart bells when the caravan reaches the base, and a calm morning when the blood moon sets.

1.5.3

  • Legend health bar: a bar at the top of the screen with the name, epithet and health of a legend fighting near you (up to two at once).
  • Invasion progress bar: while a warband attacks your base, the bar shows how many of it have fallen.
  • Big banners in the middle of the screen when an invasion comes, reaches the walls, is repelled or not, when a legend appears near you or is slain, and when a blood moon is announced and rises.
  • Beams of light in the rarity's colour over items dropped by legends (invasion legends too), until picked up.
  • Sounds of its own for the banners: a war horn for invasions, a roar when a legend appears, wolves howling when a blood moon is announced, and a victory sting when an invasion is repelled or a legend slain. They follow the sound-effects volume; a player's own file in config/LemyChadPack/sounds replaces the shipped one.
  • A repelled invasion pays even when no player's hit was counted (the warband fell to traps, wards or other creatures): everyone who held the base shares the reward. It used to pay nobody.
  • The blood moon reddens the whole sky: the moon, the glow around it and the starry sky turn red too (only the fog and light used to).
  • The bars, banners and beams can each be turned off by every player (1. General); they step aside while the inventory, menu, map or one of the mod's windows is open.
  • Build menu tags: the storage table and its extensions are under Crafting and Storage, wards under Defense, the board and the altar under Misc (everything used to land in Decor).
  • Storage table extensions work like workbench extensions: they can only be placed near a storage table, one of each kind per table (the ghost turns red otherwise); a line shows which table an extension serves, and hovering the table shows its connected and missing extensions and the base radius. Extensions already built stay; a second one of a kind no longer counts twice.

1.5.2

Bug fixes from a full review of the mod, and a few rule changes.

  • Delivery contracts are handed in with the board's buttons only ("Hand in", and "To storage" for base requests). Putting items into a base chest no longer counts — it used to count for every matching contract at once.

  • The anti-abuse guards are switched off for now (tamed and summoned kills, minimum damage share, take-and-return, self-dropped pickups, demolitions). They can be turned back on in 5. Anti-abuse; a config still at the old defaults is switched over once.

  • Legend rewards are shared equally among everyone who hurt the legend or stood within 60 m when it fell.

  • A chain under way survives a catalog update: its current step stays for 3 in-game days, then it can be started again from that step.

  • Coins and items that arrive while your character is dead (rewards, caravan trades, altar refunds, hand-ins handed back) are kept and given once you are back, instead of being lost.

  • A hand-in the board cannot take right now (contracts off) is handed back.

  • A legend that appeared after the server stopped waiting for it now leaves at once; a legend's retinue leaves with it.

  • The gods file is asked from the host once your character exists (the request at world start was lost).

  • The caravan's state reaches players who were dead when it changed (no ghost merchant on the map).

  • The storage window's request tab follows what is really in the chests (recounted every 5 s).

  • Splitting a reserved stack is allowed for as many items as are free (the amount picked in the split dialog is checked too).

  • The ward's flee check runs only where the creature's AI runs and no longer re-reads its settings each time.

  • Items were lost with a full inventory. Rewards claimed at the board, caravan purchases and sales, and altar refunds dropped a single item on the ground instead of the whole stack. Whatever does not fit now drops in full.

  • "To storage" destroyed items. Handing in more than one stack put one stack into the chest and took everything from the player. Items now go in stack by stack and only what really went in is counted.

  • Group boss contracts paid one player. The first player counted completed the contract and got the whole reward; now everyone near the boss is counted first and the reward is shared.

  • Invasions could get stuck for good when the player asked to spawn the warband left the game; someone near is now asked instead. An invasion could also count as repelled in its first second, and a warband at the base could appear in an area the defender had not loaded — both fixed.

  • The blood moon often ended at midnight, and it could be slept away after the announcement. Both fixed.

  • Legends had their health multiplied twice by PathOfValheiman, so the health cap did not hold. A legend finished off by something other than a player no longer blocks new legends until it times out.

  • Abandoning and restarting a chain no longer pays its first steps again: it goes on from the step it was left at.

  • A finished weekly contract no longer comes back right away; the next one comes when the week is over.

  • Sailing counts for the one at the helm (it counted for every passenger). A dropped and picked-up fish is no longer a new catch, and pressing E on a fish with a full inventory no longer counts.

  • Freyja's double harvest can no longer be rolled more than once per plant, and works again on bushes that regrow.

  • Reserved stacks can no longer be taken by dropping another item onto them.

  • Request contracts whose storage table is gone now leave the board.

  • Removing a piece now also takes back its share of a building contract.

  • The blood moon rose in daylight and ended after dawn (it used the clock without the game's dusk/dawn scaling).

  • Animals could not be tamed inside a ward: scared creatures skipped their whole AI, eating included. Tameable creatures are now left alone, and scared ones still heal.

  • Wards reached into dungeons above them (spawners and monsters inside were affected); height is now checked.

  • Recipes and piece texts follow the server's settings and apply at once — clients used their own values.

  • Base requests could be farmed for coins: tiny requests paid at least one coin and one enchanting material per line. Request rewards are now proportional to their size.

  • The same target can no longer be taken twice (one kill counted for both). Request lines over the board limit wait and come in when a slot frees up, instead of being dropped.

  • Group amounts are capped: single bosses and minibosses ask at most 4 kills, sailing at most twice the distance, the rest at most ×2.5.

  • "Before dawn" contracts end at dawn, not at midnight.

  • A catalog update cleans the board once per world (it repeated on every world load in the same session). A weekly removed by it is replaced; a chain left past its new end counts as completed.

  • Catalog: stone building, forge and late workbench upgrades come at tier 2 (they need iron); the Frost King contract leaves once he is defeated.

  • Save files are protected: an unreadable board, caravan, altar or legend file is kept as .bad-<date> instead of being overwritten with an empty one; saves are written atomically.

  • After joining a friend's world and then hosting your own, the altar used the friend's gods file; the board, blood moon sky, invasion pins and owed items of the previous world no longer carry over; owed items go only to the character and world they belong to.

  • Explore contracts count again after switching characters; the blood moon reaches players who join during it (sky, no sleeping); the legend pin reaches late joiners even with contracts off.

  • A creature could stay alive at 0 HP if a death handler failed; fixed. A legend that appeared too late on another player's game is now found and removed.

  • A map shelf being placed no longer raises the table's level; chest contents are hidden in someone else's guarded area; windows no longer leave input blocked when the host quits.

  • Escape no longer opens the pause menu when closing a mod window; the caravan and altar windows now block game input like the others.

  • Blood moon star chance now applies after PathOfValheiman's own; invaders keep "no despawn at day" when another player takes them over.

1.5.1

  • The weekly contract now lasts 7 in-game days (about 3.5 hours of play) instead of 7 real days, like the caravan. A weekly contract already on the board goes on and counts its days from the update.
  • Fixed: under the blood moon the sky flickered back to its normal colour a few times a minute.
  • Fixed: the blood moon's war signal did not play.

1.5.0

  • Blood moon. A rare night (12% each evening, never more often than every 7 in-game days), announced in the afternoon. Until dawn the sky turns red, creatures deal 50% more damage and twice as often come with stars — but their loot is doubled, kills count double for contracts and trophies weigh triple for the gods. Nobody can sleep it away. Hide behind a ward or go hunting. Settings in 11. Blood moon, console command lc_bloodmoon [tonight | stop]. A war signal plays once as the moon rises (it follows the music volume). To use your own track instead, put a bloodmoon.ogg (or .wav / .mp3) into BepInEx/config/LemyChadPack/music/.
  • Wards. Four new pieces (hammer → Misc), each a biome further and larger: the lesser ward (75 m, workbench — bronze), the ward (100 m, forge — iron), the greater ward (125 m — silver, crystal) and the grand ward (150 m — black metal, linen). Within the radius creatures do not spawn — no biome spawns, no spawn points, no nests.
    • Vanilla raids still come, but their creatures appear just beyond the circle and have to walk in.
    • Weak creatures (no stars) that wander in turn and flee; raids, invasions, legends and bosses are not scared.
    • Creatures deal half damage to buildings inside (raids, invasions and players unchanged).
    • Players at the base get a message when an enemy is inside.
    • The radius shows as a ring on the ground while building nearby. Recipes and radii are in 10. Ward.

1.4.4

  • Four more languages: Ukrainian, French, German and Polish. The language follows the game's (or the Language setting). Translations are files in BepInEx/config/LemyChadPack/lang/, keyed by the English text, and can be edited; anything missing shows in English. Ukrainian players get Ukrainian now instead of Russian.
  • Less lag. The contract board no longer sends every location each player ever visited to everyone on every change; its updates are gathered for 1.5 s and the board file is written every 30 s instead of on each change. The caravan looks for its merchant across the world every 5 minutes instead of every 15 seconds, the altar sends the gods file only to players who join, workshop counts are cached for 5 minutes, and the storage table's hover text and "request gathered" check do far less work.
  • Invasion rewards go to those who fought. Players who hurt the warband get a full share; those who only stood nearby get a quarter.
  • Fixed: base requests lost their storage table after the world was restarted (closing a request left its contracts on the board). Tables now keep a lasting key of their own; requests opened before this update are not affected retroactively.
  • Fixed: a restart in the middle of an invasion let the next one start right away.
  • Fixed: you could walk through the merchant's cart.
  • Contract progress notices go only to the player concerned instead of everyone.
  • Hammer icons are not rendered on a dedicated server (no graphics there).
  • Own icons in the hammer menu. The storage table, its three upgrades, the contract board and the gods' altar show pictures of their own models instead of a workbench, a sign and a trophy.
  • The caravan is worth waiting for. Besides materials the merchant now brings meads, arrows and bolts, cooked meals, rare items (Megingjord, Ymir flesh, black cores) and — with EpicLoot — enchanting materials and runestones, 20 kinds per visit. On top of that he sells enchanted weapons and armour of the current biome (4 per visit): Magic in the first two biomes, then Rare, Epic and Legendary, one in four a step better; the properties are rolled when you buy. Prices follow what contracts of that biome pay (settings Enchanted gear per visit, Gear price multiplier).
  • The merchant's purse. He has a limited sum to pay the group for resources each visit — 300 × the biome's coins per point (Meadows 300, Swamp 540, Ashlands 1320), shown in the Sell tab. Selling surplus is still worth it, but it no longer turns a full storage into thousands of coins (setting Merchant's purse).
  • Base requests at the board: a To storage button puts the requested resources from your inventory straight into that base's chests and counts them.
  • War horn and target. A horn sounds when a warband sets off and when it stands at the walls; the base it is heading for is marked on the map.
  • Interception needs line of sight: a hill or mountain between you and the warband, or more than 25 m of height difference, no longer starts the fight. The radius is a setting now (Interception radius).
  • Creatures of an invasion cut short by a restart no longer roam forever: they leave when the server starts.
  • A legend sent away after a restart is now actually removed from the world.
  • Settings left at old defaults are moved to the new ones once (rarer, larger invasions; 20 caravan goods); values you changed yourself are kept.
  • Freyja's double harvest chance is 30% (was 50%).
  • The altar no longer recomputes the world's tier for every god on every update.

1.4.3

  • Hand in at the board. Delivery contracts (personal, chain, group, weekly) have a Hand in button: the target items in your inventory, up to what is still needed, are handed over on the spot — no need to carry them to a base chest. Items taken from base storage within the take-and-return window do not count and are handed back. Base requests still fill the base chests.
  • Stronger invasions. Every warband has about 30% more fighters, grows faster with players online (0.5 per player, was 0.3), and a legend of its tier always marches with it — with its own health, glow and loot. The legend's points are added to the invasion reward.
  • Legends are 10% stronger (new setting Legend power, health and damage).
  • Fixed: invasion rewards were also scaled by the legend reward multiplier.

1.4.2

  • Fairer blessings. A blessing now lasts the same 30 minutes of play whenever the bar fills (setting Blessing length, minutes), instead of "until morning", which could mean anything from 10 to 30 minutes. The time only runs while someone is on, and sleeping through the night no longer ends it. Filling the bar again while it lasts adds another 30 minutes, up to 60 in store.
  • Favour costs more: 200 to start with and 160 more per unlocked tier (was 100 + 80).

1.4.1

  • Fixed a second caravan merchant appearing after the world was restarted: the merchant is now found by its visit, and any extra copies are removed.
  • Fixed the gods' altar window staying empty for players with a full inventory.
  • The caravan pays fairer prices for resources (about 2.5 times more than before).

1.4.0

  • Gods' altar. A new piece (hammer → Misc) where the group brings offerings to ten gods. Each god has a favour bar; once it is full, everyone online is blessed until the next morning (at least 10 minutes) and the bar starts over. Fighters bring trophies — any god takes any trophy and values its favourites double — builders bring resources.
    • Odin — skill experience and map reveal radius; Thor — lightning damage on attacks, lightning resistance; Freyja — double harvest chance and health regeneration; Tyr — melee damage and cheaper blocking; Ullr — bow and crossbow damage, Sneak and speed; Njord — swimming and stamina regeneration; Skadi — frost resistance, cheaper running and jumping; Frigg — carry weight and stamina regeneration; Hel — magic damage, eitr regeneration, spirit resistance; Heimdall — armour and poison resistance.
    • Gods, offerings and blessings are in gods.yaml (the host's file is sent to every player), settings in 9. Gods' altar, console command lc_altar [bless <god> | reset | reload | check].

1.3.0

  • Merchant caravan. Every 14 in-game days (setting Caravan comes every, in-game days) a merchant with a cart comes to a base — a storage table — announced a few minutes ahead and marked on the map. He stays an hour of play (the clock stops while nobody is on, and a restart does not cut the visit short), then leaves.
    • Sells 16 different goods per visit from the unlocked biomes, mostly the current and the previous one, and mostly what the players online have never found yet (marked new): seeds, spices, baits, rare drops and materials, from Meadows to the Deep North.
    • Buys surplus resources of the unlocked biomes in packs for coins — wood, ore, bars, hides, crops and so on — up to a per-visit limit shared by the group.
    • Goods, prices, stock and limits are in caravan.yaml, settings in 8. Caravan, console command lc_caravan [come | leave | reload | check].

1.2.0

  • Invasions. Rarely — far less often than vanilla raids — a warband of the group's current biome — fulings, draugr, seekers and so on, with a starred leader — marches on a base (a storage table). It is announced a few minutes ahead, sets off from far away and is shown on the map as it moves. Meet it in the field or hold the base; its creatures appear when a player reaches it or when it reaches an inhabited base. Repelled — everyone who fought shares the reward at the board; nobody came — it leaves. Every invader has at least 5 PathOfValheiman stars (setting Minimum stars per invader), each further star coming with a 50% chance, uncapped except by PathOfValheiman's own maximum. The server rolls every 2 hours of play at 15% (about one invasion per 13 hours; vanilla raids come about every 4), and never within 12 real hours of the last one, even across restarts. Warbands are in invasions.yaml, settings in 7. Invasions, console command lc_invasion.

1.1.2

  • Legend loot. A slain legend drops enchanted EpicLoot gear of its biome on the ground: Rare in the early biomes up to Mythic in the Deep North, 1–3 items plus one more for every three players nearby (loot_rarity, loot_count in legends.yaml). The board rewards stay as they were.
  • Saner legend health. 1.1.1 stacked to hundreds of thousands of health. Fewer stars (3 in the Meadows up to 6 in the Deep North), ×1.5 health and ×1.15 damage on top, and a hard max_health cap per legend before the per-player bonus (2 500 in the Meadows up to 60 000 in the Deep North).
  • Modifiers that break a fight — splitting, unbreakable, heir, mirror, bound, blink, runecarver — are removed from legends.
  • Better legend rewards at the board. About 1.5× the coins and materials, and the enchanting materials and rune are a quality above the biome: Epic in the Meadows and Black Forest, Legendary in the Swamp and Mountains, Mythic in the Plains, Mistlands and Ashlands, Ancient in the Deep North (reward_rarity in legends.yaml). Legend rewards ignore the daily material cap.
  • The console command lc_legend spawn ignores which bosses the world has defeated.

1.1.1

  • Stronger legends. PathOfValheiman stars and modifiers are now applied for real (1.1.0 fell back to plain stars). Base health ×5 and damage ×1.6, two more stars in every biome, and health grows with the number of players online (setting Health per player online, 0.35 by default).
  • lc_legend spawn with a trailing space no longer looks for a legend with an empty name.

1.1.0

  • English. The whole mod is now in English and Russian: windows, notices, settings, contract and legend names. The language follows the game language and can be set in the mod settings.
  • Legends. Named legendary creatures appear now and then near players, with a retinue, a glow and a map area. They get PathOfValheiman's stars and modifiers when it is installed. Rewards are shared by damage dealt.
  • The contract catalog and legend files update themselves to the new version; the old file is kept as .bak.

1.0.0

First release.

  • Storage table: overview, search with highlighting, requests, reserves, chest contents on hover.
