Odins Nudge
Alt-tabbed while something eats you? Odin flashes the taskbar and knocks when you're hurt, an enemy closes in, a raid starts, you die or chat says your name. Never while you're playing. Client-side. From the makers of Odin's Dusk Horn.

Odin's Nudge
You only looked away for a minute. The Greydwarfs didn't.
- A nudge when it matters. Alt-tabbed to a wiki, a video or the washing up? When Valheim needs you back, Odin flashes its taskbar button and gives a short knock.
- Only for real trouble. You're hurt, something hostile is closing in, a raid starts, you die, or someone in chat says your name. Nothing else, and never while you're actually playing.
- One line waiting when you return, telling you what you missed, in Odin's own words. "You were hit 3 times while you were away. Odin counted."
No keys, no items, nothing to build. Tab out as much as you like. Odin will tell you when it stops being a good idea.
When Odin nudges you
Only while the game isn't the window in front. Each nudge has its own switch:
- You take damage. Any hit of at least
MinDamage(1) after armour, from a Greydwarf, a fall, the sea or a bad decision. - An enemy closes in. Something hostile and awake within
EnemyRadius(20 metres): alerted, hunting or already swinging. Grazing deer don't count, tamed creatures never do. Enemies already on you when you tab out don't knock straight away, only if they're still there aCooldownlater. - A raid starts around you. "The army of Eikthyr" is worth a look.
- You die. Odin would rather you heard it from him.
- Chat says your name. Someone types your character's name, or one of
ExtraNames, as a whole word, whether they say it, shout it or whisper it. Your own messages don't count.
The taskbar button flashes until you click back in, and a short knock plays once.
While the trouble lasts, Odin keeps knocking every Cooldown (20 seconds): hits
still landing, an awake enemy still close, a raid still on around you. Each kind
keeps its own count, so a hit and then a death a second later are two knocks.
When you come back
Click back into Valheim and Odin gives you one line saying what happened while you were away, worst first. Nothing at all if nothing did.
Client-side only
Only you need it. It watches your own character, the chat you can already see and the game's own raid notices, and it nudges Windows, not the world: no new items, no network messages, no world data. Works in single-player, on dedicated servers and with friends who don't have it.
Configuration
Settings live in BepInEx/config/hevyh2o.valheim.odinsnudge.cfg. If you have a
Configuration Manager mod installed, you can also change them in game (usually F1);
this mod doesn't need one.

Things to know
- It can't play for you. The game keeps running while you're tabbed out, as it always has. Odin taps you on the shoulder; dodging is still your job.
- Windows gets the flash. Elsewhere you still get the sound.
- The sound is Valheim's. It plays through the game, so the game's master volume applies, and a mod that mutes Valheim in the background mutes the knock too. The flash still works.
- "Whisper" isn't private. In Valheim, a whisper is just quiet talk nearby, so Odin treats it like any other chat line: he only nudges if your name is in it. Map pings carry no words, so they never nudge.
- Not a muter. If you want Valheim quiet while it's in the background, DeathMonger's SmartSilencer does that well. Odin's Nudge is the opposite: it speaks up exactly when the game needs you.
- Found a bug or have an idea? Tell Odin in
Odin's Tavern. The
ravens read every note; your
BepInEx\LogOutput.loghelps them read faster.
Also from Odin's tavern
Odin's Latch: Odin shuts the doors you opened when it matters: an enemy close, nightfall or a raid at your base. Fewer visitors means fewer nudges.
Odin's Second Hand: bow out and an enemy close, Odin swaps in your best melee weapon for it, and hands the bow back once it's gone. Nudged back in mid-fight, you'll want the axe.
Odin's Free Refills: no stamina costs while the coast is clear, normal costs once a threat is near. The nudge says run; this says you can.
Odin's Wanted Posters: look at a creature and press E for its health, weaknesses and drops. Find out who was chewing on you while you were away.
Odin's Almanac: press K for a forecast of the next weather changes in your biome. Storm due? Tab out before it, not during.
Odin's Saga: sleep or log out and Odin reads you the saga of your day; press J for a lifetime of deeds. "Died while watching a video" is not a verse he wants to sing.
Odin's Hearth: press N at home for your comfort level and the cheapest piece to build next. The safest place to tab out is by your own fire.
Odin's Pantry: press P for your foods, what you could cook right now, and Odin's pick for your biome. Eat before you tab out. Odin can't feed you from here.
Odin's Raven Returns: after you die, a raven guards your grave; press H to see where it is and what killed you. For when the nudge came too late.
Odin's Drunk Cam: drink a mead and the world sways; the more meads, the more it sways. Three meads in, you'll need more than a nudge.
Odin's Weapon Memories: every weapon remembers what it has done and earns a name from it. None of them are named for the fights you missed.
Odin's Stone Whispers: Odin whispers when a Rock or Mysterious Rock is near; press 9 and he turns your gaze to it. A whisper for stones, a knock for trolls.
Odin's Dusk
Horn:
a low horn before nightfall, and press Home for the time to dark and the way to
your bed. Set Sound to horn and the nudge speaks its language.
Odin's Knot: log out and Odin asks what you were doing; log back in and he reads it back. Press ' to retie it. A nudge for minutes away, a knot for days.
