Loki's Trading Post

⚠️ Not tested in multiplayer yet. It has been played and tested in single player. If you run it on a server and something breaks, please let us know (see "Feedback" below).

Build a market stall, wait for a mysterious trader to move in... and find out it's Loki. He'll take your gold for some very useful goods, and he'll sell you add-on stations that make life in Valheim a little easier. Just don't hit him.

What's in it

Loki's Stall: an open-front market stall you build from the Hammer (Misc tab, needs a Workbench). Only one per world. After you build it, sleep a few nights and Loki will show up. He's guaranteed to arrive by the 4th sleep.

Loki himself: he's a shapeshifter, so he looks different in every world. He greets you, makes snarky remarks when you buy something, and can't be hurt. Hit him a few times and he'll warn you. Keep going and you'll regret it.

Loki's shop:

• 12 items that change every 90 minutes.
• More gets unlocked as you defeat bosses.
• Enhanced gear, special foods, meads and potions.
• "Super" items have gold names.
• Shift-click buys 5 at once.
• He also buys your valuables (amber, pearls, rubies and so on) for gold.

Add-ons, unlocked with gold from Loki, then built with the Hammer:

• Trickster's Errands: a board with daily kill and gather errands that pay out in coins. Each player gets their own.
• Errand Drop: put gather items in, then press Shift+E to turn them in. It destroys everything inside, so only put in what the errand wants.
• Tinker's Bench: repairs all your gear in one go.
• Brokk's Borrowed Anvil: smelts ore into bars on the spot, no fuel needed.
• Surtur's Pit: turns your junk into Coal, 1 for 1. Coins and boss items are left alone.
• Vault: a personal coin bank for each player.
• Trickster's Hearth: adds comfort to your base, and more for each add-on built nearby.
• Seer's Cauldron: feed it a Fortune Token (sold by Loki) and it tells you one item from Loki's next shop. One token per day.

Coin stacks can go above 999, so you can actually carry your fortune.

How to start

1. Install with a mod manager (Thunderstore app or r2modman), or put the files into BepInEx/plugins yourself.
2. Place a Workbench, grab your Hammer, and build Loki's Stall from the Misc tab.
3. Sleep. Loki arrives within 4 nights.
4. Bring gold.

Requirements

• BepInExPack for Valheim
• Jotunn 2.30.2 or newer

Prices, unlock costs and other settings are in BepInEx/config/dbsteiger.TradingPost.cfg. On a server, these are controlled by the admin.

About how it was made: I designed and tested this mod, and the code was written with help from an AI assistant. It only uses Valheim's own models and sounds, with no outside art.
