README

Lettfeti

Opening your inventory can stutter, and it gets worse the more recipes you know. Turning on No Cost makes it much worse.

Lettfeti removes the stutter. The crafting list is quicker to open and cheaper to leave open.

Léttfeti is Old Norse for "light-footer".

What It Does

Valheim rebuilds the whole crafting list from scratch every time it changes: when you open the inventory, switch tabs, craft something, or move a single item in your pack. Lettfeti reuses the list instead, and cuts out repeated work behind it.

What you should notice:

  • Opening the inventory doesn't pause, even on a long-played character.
  • Moving items and shift-clicking stacks into chests stays smooth.
  • Switching between Craft and Upgrade is instant.
  • No Cost no longer makes the inventory slow to open.

None of that changes what you see. Same recipes, same order, same items greyed out.

No Cost Lists

With No Cost on, Valheim lists every recipe in the game at once, for every workstation. On a modded setup that is over a thousand entries.

Lettfeti limits the list to the station you are standing at, so a forge shows forge recipes. Crafting is still free.

Standing away from a station is left alone, so No Cost still lets you craft anything anywhere.

Set NoCostShowsOnlyThisStation to false if you want the full list back.

Install

Client only. Other players don't need it, and installing it on a server does nothing.

Checking It

Type lettfeti in the console to see how long the crafting list is taking to build.

To compare against the game on its own:

  1. lettfeti off, open and close the inventory a few times, then lettfeti.
  2. lettfeti on, do the same again, then lettfeti.

Compatibility

Lettfeti changes no game data and touches nothing in your save or on the network. Uninstalling it leaves nothing behind.

If a Valheim update moves something Lettfeti relies on, the affected part switches itself off and writes a line in the log. The rest keeps working.

Settings

BepInEx/config/gbv.valheim.lettfeti.cfg, or the Configuration Manager in game.
