r2modman / Thunderstore Mod Manager
%APPDATA%\r2modmanPlus-local\Valheim\profiles\<your profile>\BepInEx\LogOutput.log
Manual install
<Valheim install folder>\BepInEx\LogOutput.log
Please include:
- Which mod, and its version
- Your Valheim version
- Whether you are on a dedicated server, hosting locally, or in single player
- What you did and what happened instead
- The log, or at least every line mentioning the mod
A log with nothing in it is still useful. "It never logged anything" narrows the problem down a long way.
Common Problems
It stopped working after a Valheim update. Update the mod. A game patch can break a mod built against the previous version, and it usually fails quietly with nothing in the log to explain it. If you are already on the latest version and it is still broken, message me. That is worth knowing quickly, because it means everyone else is broken too.
Nothing from the mod appears at all. Check the log for a line saying it loaded. If that line is missing:
- Launch through your mod manager, not straight from Steam. Launching from Steam skips the profile entirely
- Confirm you are on the profile you think you are on
- Confirm BepInEx itself is installed in that profile
It is not listed in your mod manager. If the DLL was dropped in by hand rather than installed through Thunderstore, the manager does not track it. Two copies can then end up installed at once, and which one loads is unpredictable. Remove the loose DLL and install through the manager.
It works for you but not for other players. Check the mod's page for where it has to be installed. Some need to be on the dedicated server, some on every client, some on both. A mod installed on only one side usually does not error, it just quietly does nothing.
Settings do not seem to apply.
Config files live next to the log, under BepInEx\config. They are generated on first
launch, so start the game once before editing. On a dedicated server some settings are
owned by the server and pushed to clients, in which case editing your local copy changes
nothing.
Feature Requests
Tell me what you were trying to do, not just what to add. The best additions so far have come from someone describing the tedious thing they were doing, rather than proposing a feature outright.
