MagicStaffTweaker
Customize vanilla magic staff costs, damage, casting behavior and summons with staff-specific configuration controls.
This is the server-required edition. Install the same version on the server and all participating clients. Install only one edition of Magic Staff Tweaker at a time.
What's new in 2.3.5
Fixed ordinary wild animals inheriting Spirit Caller summon health. This bug could give a naturally spawned zero-star wolf 1,500 HP instead of its normal 80 HP. Summon tuning now checks each creature's exact identity and excludes unrelated wild creatures.
The wild-wolf health fix has been confirmed working in game by the user. Existing configuration settings are preserved.
Features
- Staff-specific controls compatible with Configuration Manager.
- Eitr and health costs, casting speed, cooldowns, damage and relevant projectile behavior.
- Staff of Protection barrier tuning.
- Dead Raiser, Staff of the Wild and Spirit Caller summon health and count controls.
- Staff of the Wild summon spread.
- Optional Spirit Caller one-star and two-star animal summons.
- Northern Vengeance ally-application radius and duration tuning.
- Server-synchronized configuration.
Installation and updates
Install or update through Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman. Dependencies are BepInExPack Valheim and Jötunn, as listed in the package manifest.
For manual installation, place both MagicStaffTweakerServer.dll and MagicStaffTweaker.Core.dll in one folder under BepInEx/plugins. Replace both DLLs together and remove duplicate active copies of older editions. Restart Valheim after updating.
For multiplayer, update the server and participating clients to 2.3.5.
Configuration
Launch once to generate BepInEx/config/com.magicstafftweaker.server.cfg. Settings are grouped by staff. Keep your existing configuration when updating; the plugin identity and configuration keys are unchanged.
Spirit Caller starred summons default to Disabled / 0% / 0%. The server's Ignore Summon Limit setting retains its configured summon maximum.
Existing affected creatures
The fix prevents tuning unrelated creature templates. Animals already saved with inflated health may retain their saved values; this update does not rewrite world saves. Check a newly spawned wild animal after restarting.
Compatibility and validation
Built against Valheim 1.0.17 with Jötunn 2.30.2. Future game updates may require a mod update.
Both editions build successfully. Automated validation passed 64 creature-isolation regression checks, 20 server checks and 59 client checks. The isolation regression tests use synthetic object graphs rather than live game simulation. The user confirmed the wild-wolf fix in game; comprehensive multiplayer and other-staff testing has not been independently performed.
