Universal Rebench

One Bench to Rule Them All.

Universal Rebench by JustinRampage puts your nearby crafting stations within reach of one convenient bench. Switch among nearby vanilla and modded crafting stations without running from table to table, while keeping the original station's crafting requirements and recipes.

Choose nearby crafting stations directly from the crafting header. Screenshot from a heavily modded Valheim setup.

Features

  • One bench, many stations. Select an actual nearby crafting station from the dropdown replacing the native station-name header. The closed button shows FORGE - LVL 1 (the selected station and its actual level); expanded options are alphabetically sorted, uppercase, and regular-weight with slightly larger text. The search radius is configurable (15 m by default).
  • Real crafting, not free crafting. The selected workstation still determines which recipes, upgrades, ingredients, and station levels are available. The Rebench does not unlock recipes or bypass progression.
  • Optional automatic repairs. When enabled, opening the Rebench repairs eligible worn equipment through Valheim's native repair routine and qualifying nearby stations. Auto-repair is off by default, with a configurable per-interaction safety limit. It does not intentionally move, sort, or unequip items.
  • Mouse and controller friendly. The dropdown replaces the normal crafting station name while keeping the station icon, level star, Craft/Upgrade/Reclaim tabs and surrounding UI unchanged. Use the mouse or controller to select a station. Navigation works on Craft, Upgrade, and Reclaim tabs.
  • Customizable looks. Black bench, Rampage Blue pelt, dark-silver chain and tools, and red mist behind the crystal. Supported tint settings are available through BepInEx; some experimental settings cannot recolor individual model parts separately.
  • A little Easter egg. A tiny universal TV remote rests on the pelt. Show or hide it, and adjust its size and position, in the configuration.
  • Proper interaction prompt. Displays Craft & Repair with the player's current Use key or controller binding.

Building Universal Rebench

Use your Hammer in the Crafting category with a regular Workbench nearby.

  • 6 Fine Wood
  • 6 Greydwarf Eyes (Rampage Blue!)
  • 6 Surtling Cores (Rampage Red!)

6 / 6 / 6: the Rampage recipe. 😈 These are materials for building the Rebench itself; the crafting recipes offered through nearby stations still require their usual ingredients and station levels.

Requirements

  • Valheim 1.0.20 (version tested)
  • BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2351 (version tested)
  • Jötunn 2.30.2 (version tested)

Client-side use was tested on a dedicated server without installing Rebench server-side. The already-placed Rebench continued functioning after a server update/restart. Multiplayer testing so far involved one modded client; a second player, an unmodded player, and installing Rebench on a headless dedicated server have not been verified.

Installation

Gale / r2modman / Thunderstore Mod Manager

Install RamUniversalRebench through your mod manager. Its declared BepInEx and Jötunn dependencies will be installed automatically. Launch Valheim modded.

If you previously installed a local Rebench test DLL, remove or disable it first. Do not load multiple copies with the same BepInEx plugin ID justinrampage.universalrebench.

Manual

  1. Install BepInExPack Valheim and Jötunn.
  2. Place RamUniversalRebench.dll in your active Valheim profile's BepInEx/plugins folder (or a subfolder).
  3. Launch modded Valheim.

Configuration

The BepInEx configuration file is BepInEx/config/justinrampage.universalrebench.cfg. Appearance and remote placement changes require a game restart.

Setting Default Purpose

New installations use the listed defaults. Existing installations preserve saved configuration values, including any previous remote offsets.

Notes and compatibility

  • Inventory UI support tested: vanilla Valheim crafting UI, shudnal ExtraSlots 1.2.21, and AzuExtendedPlayerInventory 2.6.4. Each was tested separately; ExtraSlots and AzuEPI should not be used together.
  • Craft Filter + Mod Labels is optional and remains an independent mod. The header dropdown and controller navigation were tested alongside RamCraftFilterModLabels 0.3.21 in a heavily modded profile.
  • Tested functionality: 14 nearby vanilla/modded station types discovered, alphabetical selection with correct levels, crafting, upgrading, reclaiming, automatic repair, and mouse/controller operation. Other mod combinations may behave differently.
  • The dropdown routes to real nearby crafting stations, including supported stations from other mods; available stations depend on what is built nearby.
  • The bench's blue pelt and silver metal use recoloring of a cloned Artisan Table at runtime. No modified copies of Valheim's original textures are included in this package.
  • The miniature remote is a static decorative mesh assembled at runtime. It has no gameplay interactions or physics.
  • GemLiquidHex is optional: it colors a separate TearChanal/TearChannel diffuse texture only when that named texture is found on the cloned bench. When unavailable, the existing crystal/liquid appearance is left alone. ChainHex and ToolsHex remain reserved/experimental and do not independently recolor those details.
  • Auto-repair has been tested in a modded inventory setup without moving or unequipping items, but back up your character before trying it with unfamiliar inventory or repair mods.
  • Dedicated-server persistence was confirmed for one server update and restart with one modded client; other multiplayer configurations still need testing.

One Bench to Rule Them All. The small universal remote is our little nod to the name.

Created by JustinRampage. Developed with AI assistance and tested in-game with modded Valheim.

v1.0.3: The dropdown is anchored to Valheim's existing crafting-station name rather than a character-name caption, with no inventory-mod-specific position offsets. It shows uppercase STATION NAME - LVL N at the selected station's true level (regular-weight text), with a matching alphabetical station list. The native station-name text is made transparent while Rebench is open and restored afterward; the original header layout remains intact. Older Selector Placement configuration values from prerelease builds are ignored if present. Some UI mods that completely replace the crafting station header may require additional support.

v1.0.2: Improved selector startup diagnostics and extended optional TearChanal/TearChannel texture lookup for the Rebench crystal/liquid appearance.
