Install

Install with a mod manager (r2modman / Thunderstore Mod Manager / Vortex). Kukolony depends on BepInEx and Jötunn; the manager fetches them for you. Everyone playing together needs the mod.

1. Place the Kolony Hearth

Open the Hammer's build menu. The Kolony Hearth costs 10 Wood + 10 Stone. Place it where you want your base — this is the heart of your colony, and everything is measured from it.

You get one hearth per world (see The One Colony), so choose the spot with some care.

2. Open the Kolony screen

Press [ (rebindable) anywhere to open the Kolony screen. From here you manage villagers, structures, and jobs. The home page shows how many villagers you have, your reach (radius), and warns you if anyone is idle or hungry.

3. Hire a villager

Go to Villagers → Manage → New villager. Hiring costs coins (50 by default), taken from your own pockets. Your first villager appears at the hearth.

4. Register a chest

Place a normal wooden chest near the hearth. Then either:

  • look at it and press \ to open it directly, or
  • open the Kolony screen → Structures → Register something nearby, and register it.

A registered chest is one your villagers will use.

5. Give out a job

Open the Kolony screen → Jobs → Add a job, pick a kind (start with Forage and Haul), and it's created. Then open a villager (Villagers → Manage → Open) and set its Work to that job. The villager starts working on a loop.

That's a working colony: a forager fills the ground with berries and mushrooms, a hauler files them into your chest. From there, add chopping, mining, farming, cooking, and crafting as you grow. See Jobs.
