Warfare Valheim 1.0 Compatibility Fix
This package is an unofficial compatibility fix for the currently outdated Warfare 1.8.9 release by Therzie. It is not Warfare, a fork, a continuation, or a claim of ownership.
Warfare remains Therzie's work. All credit for its design, code, models, textures, audio, writing, and other content belongs to Therzie and the contributors credited by the original Warfare package.
Please support the original mod maker.
This package contains only a small preloader patch written to translate calls from Valheim APIs that changed or were removed in Valheim 1.0.7. It requires and automatically installs Therzie-Warfare-1.8.9. It does not redistribute Warfare.dll or any Warfare assets.
On the first launch, the patcher verifies the original Warfare 1.8.9 DLL by SHA-256, saves an exact backup beside it as Warfare.dll.before-valheim-1.0-fix, writes the repaired DLL through a temporary file, and verifies the completed result. Unknown or changed Warfare builds are left untouched.
Version 1.0.1 resolves Warfare.dll from the active BepInEx plugin directory. This allows the preloader repair to work inside isolated Thunderstore Mod Manager and r2modman profiles rather than accidentally searching only Valheim's bare installation folder.
Supported versions
- Valheim 1.0.7, network version 39
- Warfare 1.8.9
- BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2350
The patch is deliberately version-locked. If the installed Warfare assembly is not the original 1.8.9 build, it refuses to modify it.
Repairs
- Replaces four obsolete
ZRoutedRpc.Everybodyfield reads with the current broadcast peer ID. - Migrates 33 status-effect calls to the current overload with the default variant.
- Migrates one character-message call to the current overload without game-log output.
- Migrates one console-command registration to the current constructor.
- Moves five piece-table reads to the renamed current field.
No balance values, recipes, drops, models, textures, animations, or authored Warfare content are changed.
Installation
Install this package through Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman. Its dependencies install the original Warfare package and BepInEx automatically. Every client and the dedicated server should use the same compatibility package.
The first launch modifies the locally installed copy of Warfare.dll after verifying that it is the exact supported 1.8.9 file. This is necessary because BepInEx 5 does not include plugin assemblies in its normal preloader rewrite path.
Removal and official updates
Remove this compatibility package before installing a future Warfare version that officially supports the current Valheim release. To undo the repair manually, close Valheim, remove the repaired Warfare.dll, and rename Warfare.dll.before-valheim-1.0-fix to Warfare.dll; reinstalling the original Warfare package also restores its public DLL.
If Therzie publishes an official compatible update or asks for removal, this package will be deprecated and active maintenance will end. Please direct praise and support for Warfare itself to Therzie through the original package page.
Warranty
Back up worlds and characters before changing content mods. This patch preserves Warfare's existing content identifiers, but no compatibility repair can guarantee the safety of every mod combination or future game update.
